Thanks, Pam. That's why I love this board. I can be honest and upfront about what's going on. People, like you, give me the words I need to pick myself up and move forward. Thank you!

Welcome, Red. We're glad you're here!

Wow...this past week taught me lots about myself and how I handle stress. I did not leave from work one minute less than 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday! With a half hour drive home, most nights I was crawling through my door at 11 pm. Each morning I started out with good intentions with a healthy breakfast. Then I'd get to work, 2 days at 6 am, and the s**t would hit the fan. Monday, the first day of school, we enrolled 59 new students. Now, that may not seem like a lot to some of you but to put it into perspective, most of our schools enrolled 4-5 students with a full clerical staff (Administrative Secretary, Secretary, and Attendance Clerk). All are full time employees. At my site, I have an Administrative Secretary and a 3.75 hour Attendance Clerk. The secretary is a sub on top of that. On Tuesday, we received 42 more new students, @35 on Wednesday, and 20-25 both Thursday and Friday. They were coming out of the woodworks!

So, to make a long story short, we've been swamped! I found myself not eating during the day and evening. Then, on the way home I'd grab something fast to eat because I was famished. I also justified that I was "entitled" to eat junk because I hadn't eaten anything all day. As I took less and less care of myself, I found my ability to cope waning.

Today was the last straw. I've been holding myself together for my staff and just couldn't take it anymore. Fortunately we are getting some relief on Monday. I will have additional front office help through Labor Day (tends to be a high enrollment time). Tonight, out of curiosity, I stepped on the scale expecting to see an increase in my weight. Well, low and behold, I lost 3 pounds. I can't celebrate, however, because it wasn't done the healthy way.

So, all you have heard from me is I, I, I. Welcome to all of our new members. Yes, this is quite a friendly group and everyone is extremely SUPPORTIVE. I feel fortunate to have found this support.

Humorpam...glad you're back. You've always been a source of motivation.

Finally, hello twin - lorabear! Yes, I'm alive! Ã? Congrats on meeting your goal. That's awesome.

Will go for now. My salvation is that tomorrow is a NEW day. This, too, shall pass.

Oh my goodness - what a week I had! Tomorrow is the start of a new school year. This is always a busy time of year. This year, however, was more challenging than most as my secretary of 17 years retired last Wednesday and I have 6 new teachers on board. On top of that, we've registered 203 new students since July 30th. That's an average of 20.3 students per day! I've been working 14-15 hour days and am exhausted! My salvation is knowing that this busy time is short lived. Unfortunately, my food has not been the best the past two days. While I did not overdo it, I certainly did not eat the healthy meals I've been accustomed to this past month. My weigh-in was Saturday and I'm still at a standstill - did not gain nor did I lose. This has gone on for two weeks!

Lorabear, yes I'm still here and still alive Ã? -just haven't been online in a few days. Sounds as though things are going well for you. Way to go!

Hi everyone! I've been reading posts but have had little time to respond to any. We will be starting school next Monday so things have been busy, busy, busy. I've been working far too many hours in preparation for the big day. This is where I get into "sticky" situations. I'll not want to stop working to eat and begin "snacking" on unhealthy things. Fortunately, I haven't fallen back into my old patterns. I know, however, it's only a matter of time unless I make a commitment to take care of myself first.

I will be finishing up my fourth week with CC on Saturday. My weightloss has been slow and it even stalled for a short time. Today, however, I put on a pair of pants and low and behold they were actually loose on me. So, as others have stated on this thread, although you may not see a change in weight - sometimes you will see a change in inches. I am encouraged!

Lorabear, I'm here, my twin! How are things with you? When do you return to work? Enjoy what remains of your time off.

Will go for now. Take care everyone.

Welcome back, Lorabear! Missed you. Congrats on the weightloss, even on vacation. Sounds as though you had a great time.

Congrats to reb and rtd, too! Losing 10% of you body weight and getting below 300 lbs are something to be proud of. Way to go! Ã?

Trapp, you'll do fine at the BBQ. I was at one three weeks ago and all was well. You'll know if you're overdoing it or not.

I had much better success this week. Continued true to my plan and low and behold I'm down 3 lbs! Much relief after that 5 lb gain last week.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Talk to you soon.

Hi. I'd like to be a part of this support group. I was so disappointed when I saw the other was closed. I read their posts and wish I could be a part of it.

My name is Carol. I am 5'2" and currently weigh 269. I am down from 284 which I weighed on June 14th - my highest EVER. My goal weight is 123 lbs which I hope to achieve by June 2009.

I've battled with weight all of my life. In the mid 70's, I lost 90 lbs and got down to 125 lbs. I married and had two beautiful daughters in the early 80's. I was able to maintain my weight around 140 until the early 90's and that was all she wrote!

I have found that I'm an emotional eater - happy, sad, mad, frustrated, bored. You name it - I turn to food to make me feel better. Knowing this is half my battle.

My tipping point in this attempt to lose weight - and may I say my last - was back in June when I was told I would need to have a total hip replacement (right). About a year ago, I started walking with a limp and experienced severe pain in my groin and down my leg. I started with aquatic physical therapy that seemed to help. In September, I was tripped by a student (am a principal at an elementary school) and injured my right hip in addition to tearing my rotator cuff! I haven't been the same since. The orthopedic surgeon says I must lose 50 more pounds before he will do the surgery.

I know I must approach this journey in losing weight as a lifestyle change. CC has helped me to monitor my daily food intake in a healthy manner. In addition, it provides the ongoing support and motivation I need to "stick with it."

I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and hearing your stories.

Where is everyone? It seems as though we've lost some momentum. Tomorrow is my weigh-in day. I hope I will recoup the weight I put on last week. It was a bit discouraging but it didn't deter me from sticking with my plan.

Hope all is well with everyone. Talk to you soon! Ã?

It depends upon your age. If you are in your 20's or 30's it is most likely that your skin has not lost its elasticity and you'll be fine. If, however, you're older than that you may have problems. Exercise is important.

Tamara...thank you for the encouragement and ideas. I do drink between 120-180 oz of water a day, sometimes more. You are so right when you say we're not on a diet. I am looking at this as a lifestyle change. Will roll with this one putting one foot in front of the other to move forward.

Oh my goodness buddies. I gained 5 lbs this week! I stuck with my plan, too, I swear. Last week, I lost 3 lbs. and was so encouraged that I was on the right track. This isn't something that going to make me go out and blow it but I do have to say I'm disappointed. Will keep up the good fight and take this one day at a time.

Hi Lorabear...I find when I have a hard time with food that it helps to "commit" it to someone for the day. For instance, you could post it here on this thread or PM me or someone else for that day. I would let them know what I would be having for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you include snacks in your plan then you would also include that. This gives me the accountability to stick with it. You'd repeat the same process each day.

As for exercise I, too, have a hard time because of my hip problem. I found that exercising in the water helps me. Recently, I joined our local country club to have access to a pool. YMCAs are another great resource for water activities. This past year, I completed 60 days of aquatic physical therapy. It helped me so much. So, I use the same exercises I did in PT now in the pool. The routine lasts an hour so it gives me a good workout. You might want to check in to this.

Hang in there! It does get better.

Hi everyone. Haven't posted in a few days. How's my twin, Lorabear? Anyway, I went to the orthopedic surgeon yesterday. He says I will need a total right hip replacement within 6 months (originally it was a year). He wants me to do a rapid weight loss of 50 lbs before the surgery. I'm going to contact my PCP to get a referral to a nutritionist so I can do this safely and wisely. Now, I really need your support!
