i do stick to being vegetarian wherever i go. unfortunately that doesn't always mean i eat healthy. for example, i just went to the bar-b-que festival here in memphis. aside from the grilled corn all of my other options were fried! (you can see how i survived at my blog http://www.cooking4carnivores.com) but when we have gone abroad i can usually find things, like when we are in mexico or italy it is pretty easy. i truthfully have the hardest times in the south here in america - where i am from! but i always make do and just figure i will exercise to burn off any extra calories from more fattening vegetarian options that are available. |

Amy's brand has some good options. I have one every now and then, but generally I like to make fresh food and just reheat it myself. |

there are lots of good books out there. i have a carnivore who has the palate of a five year old so i am often checking out the cookbooks myself. there is Becoming Vegan: The Complete Guide to Adopting a Healthy Plant-Based Diet and The Teen's Vegetarian Cookbook and Raising Vegan Children in a Non-Vegan World: A Complete Guide for Parents but please note i am only a vegetarian, not a vegan. that poses a whole other level of compromises. i think it is mostly about going out and experimenting with new things. also, just like i make spaghetti with real meatballs for my hubby and fake ones for me, you can try subtracting the animal products from what you are making and replacing it with vegan alternatives just for her. also, remember simple things - like cooking in separate pans, or using different utensils, or not using chicken broth. i hope this (and my blog) helps... |

i like bocca okay, but i am a bigger fan of Amy's - especially the quarter pound version. they are huge and make me feel like i am getting a real burger. i recommend coking it in a pan with a little oil. top it with provolone, bbq sauce, red onion, and tomato. i am a vegetarian and have been doing this for awhile. my hubby is a carnivre though and i don't want to be jealous when we have burger night. you can check out my blog (www.cooking4carnivores.com) if you are interested in ways to cook more vegetarian products. enjoy your burger! |

soph i ate meat until i was 19, however, i never really cared for it. so it wasn't hard for me to give it up. there are lots of great sites out there with recipes. the trick can be working with your non-veg mate. i married a carnivore and have created a blog that shows what we eat everyday. (www.cooking4carnivores.com) it could be a good site for you during your transition too. you can see how i switch out meat based products for vegetarian friendly ones for my meals. i wish you luck - you can do this! |

i have just set up a blog www.cooking4carnivores.com where i explain how me and my carnivore husband coexist. it could be a good site for people who are new to vegetarianism too as it shows how i make dishes that have meat for my husband, but don't for me. i also have links to cookbooks i use and love there. check it out! |

congrats! i am a vegetarian who married a carnivore - he really eats very few veggies. we were married in mexico and had a buffet with options for both of us. we also had a selection of apps that each of us could eat. remember once you get married a whole new battle starts - eating together everyday. i started a blog (www.cooking4carnivores.com) where i show other people in my predicament how to plan menus for breakfast, dinner, and everything inbetween. it can be really challenging. i wish you much luck and happiness! |
