Is this a joke? If not, then yeah 4000 calories is too much. In order to lose weight much eat less food. Try using the tools on the website to find out how much you should eat. But even if you eat 2000 calories you will at least stop gaining.

While you might be right, you should refrain from just assuming something like this without very crucial information - Like age, height, weight, and activity level. There is always the chance that this person could need to cut down from 4,000, but 2,000 might be too low.

Up your protein

I wonder if you'll ever get tired of helping others try to hurt themselves, or if this is going to go on forever because you think it's alright for you to hurt your own body, therefore not caring for others as well.

I don't really think you give very sound advice - in regards to anything you've posted so far.

Hey!:) So to start off, your calories estimations are a little off. Your breakfast is about 400 calories. One egg is 150 and the orange about 100. In my opinion you eat too much meat. And dont forget that fruits have calories too! What really helped me loosing weight (also kinda quick if you do it right) is not eating carbs after 4 o'clock. Load on carbs for breakfast, so no eggs but a lot if fruits, nonfat yogurt, granola,.... Try to avoid white breads and stuff and eat whole wheat products instead. You stay not-hungry longer and your body doesn't store energy as fat. Eat pretty much what you want for lunch as long as it's not too much. Eat dinner at six. Your dinner should be vegetables, a salad, with chicken, you can eat cheese too. If you don't eat carbs in the evening, your body burns stored fat at night because there are no carbs to burn in your stomach. Don't eat snacks, I know that's hard, and drink lots of water. Hope I could help you, I'm not a professional myself but I have experience :) good luck! And don't forget to do sports!

Um, one large egg is 70-74 calories, so I don't know where you're getting 150. Plus, eggs are incredible for you as long as you don't have a pre-existing condition that it would exacerbate(high cholesterol).

I think everyone else already touched on the other ridiculous statements in this post.

I disagree with the placebo effect idea. I am on pills, and I think they work.

Do you see any irony in this statement here?

forget it. this is the mentality that keeps those companies in business.

^Exactly what I was going to say.

You are leaving no room for argument here. I am not saying I *think* they work, I am seeing results and differences. You may argue that pills are bad for you etc. but I am saying this line of argument is not necessarily correct. If these pills are just empty shells that supposedly do nothing, then they would not be causing any bad side effect then. But the fact that they sometimes screw up the body shows that they do something to alter something in your body, for better or for worse.

I guess I could say the same thing about meth......I took Metabolife in high school and lost weight. It wasn't because of the Metabacrack doing something "magical" to my body; it was because it made me so jittery and cracked out, I didn't want to eat. My mother took it, too, and she lost weight as well because she was so mad and angry all the time, she didn't want to sit and eat with us. So she'd go sit walk the dog for hours.

See how that works? Fewer calories, more moving = weight loss. GASP!! We could have done that WITHOUT wasting money. Which is what I did to lose 40 pounds and keep it off since 2011, incidentally......

This post has been moderated and is no longer available.

Yeah, turns out your body doesn't give a **** how long you intend to do it for, or why you're doing it. A lot of people have high body fat percentages that they need to work on getting down, but they don't go about it in a ridiculous manner that will just circle them back around to where they started eventually.

It's also funny that you think you can force your body to break this plateau by eating next to nothing and taking a diet pill and that you think that "weight" you're supposedly going to lose will be body fat...because it definitely won't be body fat.

Pretty much anything that comes out of your mouth now is irrelevant and against the entire mission of CC.

Diabetis is your problem. Its also my problem. Losing weight, cutting out sugars and salts and I no longer crave the H20. I sleep through the night also.

No it's not... and don't effing diagnose people over the internet. That's what real doctors are for.

Just because I have a vagina doesn't make me a gynocologist.

lmfao, I don't think I could have said this any better.

If you think I should adjust my food for the race, what kind of things would you suggest?

No. Don't alter your routine on race morning. Do what you normally do before running. Or, if you want to try something else, do it regularly before you run for the few remaining weeks leading up to the race.

I usually have tons of coffee and a banana with PB on it. Sometimes I just have coffee since it's such a short distance, but more often than not I'll eat.

Oh, sorry, I miscommunicated - I'm asking now because I would change around what I currently eat so that it's not so weird day of the race.

I think I'll probably just do my oatmeal or nutrition shake and coffee like I do now. I'd love to have a banana with PB, but I'm allergic to bananas! :(

Sorry I misunderstood!

Allergic to bananas? Crazy!

I agree with Weirdfish...if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Although, experimenting with fueling isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I know, it's a huge bummer. Even worse, I know I love them because I was able to eat them up until a few months ago when I developed the allergy.

I might play around with a couple different things to see if something works better, but it's good to know that the options I've already been using should work fine.

You need to join a running group and find a pace partner to train with. Or a really good fitness gps device that allows you to run against your previous times so you can improve.

I really appreciate the advice, but I don't like running with other people really. I've tried it and it just doesn't work for me. However, I am using Map My Run, so I am able to keep track of my previous times and set goals.

Edit: To clarify, I just mean for my usual daily run. I know I'll technically be running *with* other people in races, but I think for training purposes I don't need to join a group or have a partner.

Oh, one more question:

I have a really good grasp on what kind of foods keep me going through the day, but do you guys have suggestions for food that would be good for a 5k race that's early in the morning? Since it's just a short race at 9am I was thinking I would just do my usual oatmeal or a nutritional shake and a cup or two of coffee, but I can easily feel weighed down if I'm not careful.

I know it doesn't have to be much at all, and I actually didn't think it would be something I would need to change up from my usual morning, but I just thought I would go ahead and get some input on this as well.

If you think I should adjust my food for the race, what kind of things would you suggest?

Thanks everyone for all the wonderful advice and feedback. Overall, I'm really just incredibly excited about my first race and want to do well, but I'm going to try to make it more fun than competitive. I feel like I have a pretty good chance of making my goal, but I can't say I'd be too terribly disappointed by coming in under 27 minutes in general.

Thanks again, and I'll be keeping all of this in mind for the next couple weeks leading up to my first race!

Thanks for your answer. I think I'll try green tea pills. According to you, where can I buy green tea pills? Do you know brands?

Thanks.

You'd rather waste your money than just eat right and work out? I promise, you'll be disappointed that you bought them.

I think the OP is saying that because the weight came back on after stopping taking pills, that is proof that the pills worked.

Personally I think that's a screwy definition of "worked".

Hahahaha, oh, I see. Definitely is a screwy definition.

They don't, and I'm sure you've been told this. How many times do you have to be told something before you absorb it?

Visit a hospital and walk into the stoke ward and cancer ward. You'll treat your body like a temple after that

Maybe you should visit an eating disorders ward.

People here are way too patient with you. This comment is unacceptable, and completely excessive. Your current eating behavior will make you sick long before eating ice cream once for dinner will make elsathebloody sick.
