I eat 5 times a day... about every three hours or so to keep my metabolism working all day (My trainer and nutritionists both recommended this). My breakfast is normally a little larger and the rest of my meals and snacks are about the same size. I think it just depends on your body. I agree with skinnyogi though, try a couple different things and see what you like and how your body is reacting. |

| Weight Loss | So You Think You Can Dance... the weight off? | Jun 28 2008 08:23 (UTC) |

well well well this is my kind of post!!!!! I am a dancer. I have been dancing for the past ten years, I am 19 now. I am currently doing a scholarship program where I basically live, eat, breathe, and sleep dance. I am dancing for a minimum of 8 hours a day in all styles... jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, tap, the list goes on. It is great exercise but I think most of us dancers have the worst eating habits! I am having the hardest time staying away from the junk food I used to eat, but its slowly changing. Also I think after a certain amount of year, your body adjusts to it. It could also be the age thing too but I recently started working out with a personal training and going to the gym each day on top of the 8 hours of dance. I know, crazy huh? But its different exercise so my body is starting to change from it. Anyway I like the show to bust mostly just cause I know a lot of the people and choreographers! lol It's a lot of fun to watch your friends on t.v. and maybe next year I will audition if I'm not touring with Justin Timberlake or Janet Jackson or maybe doing Rockettes in NYC(hahaha those are some of my dream dance jobs!) |

Exercising first thing in the morning is a good idea. Even if you have to wake up 20 minutes earlier or so. Every morning before I eat breakfast or anything, I turn on some music and do about 150 jumping jacks to get my heart rate up (I was told this would also kick start my metabolism for the day... not sure if thats true though but it sounded like a great idea haha). Then I also do some sit ups and lots of different ab exercises. Some ideas for exercise: -workout video- I think they are fun! -take the stairs at work every time instead of the elevator -at your lunch break you could go up and down a set amount of times -take a 30 minute walk during your lunch break

Hi There! I am also 19 and started CC not that long ago so I am also working on adapting to my new healthy life style. I have incorporated many more fruits and veggies into my diet and I try to stick to clean foods (foods that are not processed like no chips or junk food like that). Portion size is also important. You can have a brownie, but limit yourself to only one. If you totally cut out foods like that you will go crazy (at least I would, I love brownies Also exercise is a very important part of a healthy life style! Good luck |

Sorry I dont have any advice but I feel like I am in the exact same boat! Ive been on here for a while now and started working out basically every day (and I'm not kidding I am sort of obsessed with working out) since April 24th. At first I lost a couple pounds but then I gained it back. I am assuming its muscle but I wanted the scale to drop! I know the scale isn't the only important thing but I wish it would drop some so I know I'm heading in the right direction. |

Heres my plan for today! Breakfast- 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/3 cup fat free cottage cheese, and a banana Snack- Clif bar, activia yogurt, an apple Lunch- Chicken and a small red potato Snack- 1 oz almonds, 1 oz cashews, and a laughing cow light swiss cheese Dinner- not sure yet but after those 4 meals i am already at 1,450 calories..... still about 300 left to eat Sometimes it seems like I am eating so much and how can I possible loose weight when I eat that much? Exercise- dance class for 7 1/2 hours Gym for about an hour- probably work on legs today and of course abs! |

I want to join too!!!! I'm 5'8'' and weigh about 142 pounds. I dance for about 6 hours five days a week and then work out each day on top of that ( the gym workouts just started about a three weeks ago and I'm doing weights now!). I want to loose pounds but I am pretty muscular and don't feel like the pounds are really going to come off so I am not as worried about the scale as I am the measurements dropping. TODAY: Breakfast- 1/2 cup egg whites, 2 morning star sausage links, and a piece of wheat bread Snack- luna bar, apple, and activia yogurt Lunch- spinach salad with grilled chicken, little bit of crumbled clue cheese, and grapes Snack- Turkey lunch meat, 2% reduced fat cheddar cheese, and carrots Dinner- Turkey sandwich with cheese and more baby carrots It kind of seems like a lot of food but only comes out to be like 1,300 calories. I burn about 2,200 calories a day with all the exercise and working out so I normally try to eat more after dinner to get my calories up to about 1,500 or 1,600 calories. Any ideas on how to loose the weight? I feel likes its never going to come off! |

I've never tried making it with soy or almond milk, but it normally calls for three cups of milk and I do one cup of nonfat milk and then 2 cups of water and it sets just fine. I think next time i might try just making it with the water. Anyone every tried that? |

Well I only started CC about a month ago but I have been eating fairly healthy for months now.... One food I used love was doritos. I haven't eaten them in so long but i used to be able to sit down and eat half the bag! that was when my metabolism was super fast. Now I wouldn't think of eating those processed chips. They are terrible! And McDonalds! yuck but so tasty at the same time. Just wouldn't do that to my body anymore. But occasionally like maybe once every two months, I have to get a burger from in-n-out haha |

HAHA I love slurpees!!!! The crystal light ones are pretty good but in Seattle they had diet coke ones that were even better! Not really sure how to log it though.. sorry... you could just log it like it is the drink (powder mix or whatever) because I think it is basically the same just with ice. |

Ya i don't really know.... I was eating every three hours and so it just seemed like enough and then at the end of the day i was logging what i had eaten and how much and thats about what it came out to be. The last two days i have been eating the same kinds foods but increasing the amount of each and coming closer to the 2,000 calories. Sometimes at the end of the night though I have to eat some almonds to get some extra calories in for the day. Thanks for the advice everyone. |

The weight you have gained is very little and most likely just muscle. Dont worry about that at all. When I first started on here, I was the same way, just wanting the scale to go down but really it is not as important. What I have been reading on here over and over again is that the scale doesn't matter. You will loose inches and look like you are loosing weight even though the scale may be going up. Just continue eating healthy and make sure you are eating enough calories otherwise your metabolism will slow and you wont be burning as many calories and loosing the weight. |

For breakfast I normally have oatmeal with a banana sliced on top and some type of protein like cottage cheese or egg whites. 180 for breakfast isn't much. It's better to eat a larger breakfast to give yourself fuel for the day. |
