Weight Loss How often to weigh myself? Nov 15 2011

I tell folks if you can take the pressure of the ups and downs of the daily weigh-in then go for it.  Just keep in mind that it will fluxuate daily.  If you cant then I would go with once a week.  The bottom-line is the goal should be a weekly loss so weigh-in to support that goal.  I weighed myself daily.  Hope that helps.

Fitness Running with or without IPOD? Oct 27 2011

When I run in races I do them without an IPOD.  I usually dont wear one because they generally work their way out either by the ear buds or by the head phone wires....so I generally dont wear them...I figure I dont need any additional distractions when I am running.  Also a lot of the bigger races I run have bands so I really dont need the tunes.

First congrats on your weight loss.  I lost over 70 lbs and have kept it off for 4 years now.  What I did was as I reduced weight I took my "fat" clothes and put them in bags and took them to the attic.  My goal was if I kept the weight off for a year then I would donate them to goodwill and the Disabled Vets.  When the year passed I took them from the attic and donated them.  I was so shocked when I looked at my 44" waist pants (then) and compared them to my 29" waist how much of a difference there was...it was my ah hah moment.

As an update to the saga I have been divorced as the result of all this...in the end there was no compromise from her side.  She took the money and ran.

dave - awesome! let me ask how long it took to get from "before" to "after"?

Thanks.   It took less than a year.  Although my goal was only 1lb per week I ranged from 1 - 5 lbs a week.

I totally agree with everyone above...crap happens and it does seem to come in waves but look at the bright side when you are your lowest and down on the ground you have no place else to go but UP...so pick yourself up...dust yourself off...and tackle each thing as best you can....take one day - a day at a time.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer here, but there are too many consequences to casual sex.  Condoms only do so much against STDs.  Condoms can reduce HIV transmission by 85% during vaginal intercourse. Condoms reduce the risk of gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis by only 50%. There is no evidence for condom effectiveness against the transmission of HPV and Trich. HPV and Trich. affect approximately 5 million people annually. Condoms are only risk reduction – not elimination.

May feel nice, but your playing Russian roulette with your body.

Theres suppose to be someone else involved in this too????? LOL   Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

While I concur that sex with someone you love is about a hundred times better than 'maintenance' sex, I dislike the assumption that there is something immoral about casual sex.

Honor has nothing to do with bodily function.

"Maintenance sex" - "casual sex" hey its all good (especially when you havent gotten any lately)...any sex is better than NO sex

Just my opinion!  Please dont shoot the horn toad.

And its good for the environment...and it burns calories too..LOL

Answer these questions and maybe just maybe you will see the light bulb come on...What do you love to do?  Without college if you could do one thing in life what would it be? even if you didnt get paid.

It took me a long time but as soon as I could answer those questions it was a flash of the obvious then...if you love what you do...it doesnt matter about the pay...it matters if you enjoy it.

I so wish it was this simple.  Unfortunately what you love to do may not be what you CAN do.

If I could do anything, I would be a bush pilot in Alaska, and live in a tiny one room cabin in a bush town such as Anaktuvok Pass, or Wisemen.

But to get a pilots liscense takes money and lots of it, and what about my son?

No one said it would be easy...I think we all do things because of necessity(sacrifice)...life throws us curve balls...you can either get int he game and work to the day you can do what you love or you can sit on the bench and "what if" stuff...I know I did the exact same thing...you have to keep your dream alive.

BTW I used to live in Syracuse...thats why I live in Virginia now lol

I got married because I thought she was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with....ummm I got the wake up call and after 30 years of being married we parted ways.  As for children she always wanted children I was so-so at first but I love my kids and I think its been a bright spot in my life.  Not a cheap bright spot but a bright spot (and today I would gladly pay that cost again).

I'll be here.  I have no date or significant person in my life so like the loser I am ...I will be here.  I would do something more exciting but I cant think of a reason to watch water boil.

BTW if anyone wants to come over I have plenty of alcohol.
