So my stats...5'5" I think about 130 my goal is to get to 120, but that is always hard for me even when I was working out like crazy.  I don't own a scale and no measuring tape.  I used to judge by % body fat, but have not had that measured in forever.  I guess I will go with the how the clothes fit scale.  Email me if you are interesteing in chatting :)

Also, I am eating like crazy today...already up to 920 cals - way more than I would like to be without having dinner yet.

I did do cardio this morning for 40 minutes, could that make me more hungry later in the day?

Well seems like we have a good group going here.

I would suggest that people try and find one person to be their buddy...just to make sure that we have someone to report into.  Someone you feel you might have a connection with and have similar goals.

Also we should celebrate those really good moments in our day when we are challenged and we over come those desires to eat that cookie, or bad of chips.  Or when we go to the gym even though it was totally the last thing on the list of things that you needed or wanted to do.

Now I need a buddy :)

However I wanted to share my good moment today...I went to chipotle and did not order a thing, instead got an iced tea and come upstairs and ate my lean cuisine (not the most healthy but lower cals all the same).  i am super proud of myself.

Life is so much bigger than these small moments but at the same time its the small moments that make up the person we are and our character!!

Muriah - love what you are doing and for the right reasons.  I think you have definitely taken the correct steps.  Its not about a diet or a fad (like you said) but a lifestyle change.  Also, being a mom its important that you teach your kids the best habits now.  Its great to make it a game with them.  I am not a mom but I heard a mom once say that when she goes to the store with the kids she lets them pick things out such as a cereal but the game is to have them find the cereal with the lowest sugar.  My mom always instilled in me to read labels and it really is the key to understanding healthy food.

Even though I have been a healthy eater my entire life we definitely all fall into traps.  Mine is over eating and sometimes sneaking food (never really wrote that down or told anyone) or snacking.  I have found out that the reason I do those things is because I am bored or need something else to take my mind of of the current thing I am doing.  I am learning to recognize those times and really make and effort do something.

So welcome.

Everyone - I had a great moment today....I went to chipotle with my boyfriend and he got something but I almost ordered and then decided not to because I had brought my lunch and was committed to eating that.  I am super proud of myself for doing that.

I am dying.  Here at work and they order dinner in for us.

Chicken alfredo, yummy looking salad (with lots of dressing on it) and garlic bread.  I keep walking by and just get water but its so hard to resist.  I guess I keep thinking if I make it out of here without eating any of it I will feel super great about myself and resisting will be a great reward!!!

wow...I have already had three glasses of water just going to look at the food.

wish I could go home and just work out!!!

Keep me strong!!!

I hear you about the weekends...it definitely harder and I don't log my food.

Needless cals are my enemy as well.  I am a sucker for free samples at whole foods and I know I get a lot more cals than I need that way.

I think that if we know we have to report in each day than that will help to keep up accountable.

I will say that I got hungry just now and the salad that I brought to eat for lunch (did not eat because I went out to lunch) I just had.  But I don't think its too bad for me

2 cups raw spinach

10 raw almonds

a few blueberries

1 tbs of low fat blue cheese crumbles

itty bitty amount of low fat raspberry dressing.

I figure it light enough to not make me too full for working out later but will hold me over, hopefully.

is it bad that I ate this?

My issue is portion control (I order and eat the right things, just too much).  Also making sure I get to the gym at least 4-5 times a week is hard.  I am good with 3 but its those other days that are tough.

I have to work out in the AM, and I hate getting up!!!

Luckily today I will have time after work and so I am committed to going.  Another issue for me is if I don't work out in the AM and I say I will go after work (6:30 or 7) then I am hungry and don't want to work out.

I have been trying but work has been crazy and I am finally rolling off this project and taking three weeks just for myself.  I am thrilled and its all I can think about.  I really want to get cut and tones again and loose about 5-7 lbs.

I just want to be able to stay on track.

Have you tried yoga or pilates.  Both of these focuss on the inner core and can be beneficial to helping with this issue.

Hot yoga (also called bikram yoga) is when the room is heated to 90-105 degrees.  the heat is good for a few reasons - helps get poses and stretches the muscles better and the sweating is a cleansing.  Its definitely not easy and uses muscles that you would ont normally use in a pump class.

Definitely not a silly question.

Foods this is kind of an odd question, but...hot sauce? May 05 2008

I would agree with the other posters that generally the worst thing about it is the sodium.  Additionally, be careful of wing sauce because that actually sometimes has a lot of fat in it because its made with oil and butter sometimes.  just check the labels and watch the sodium.

Not sure if this helps but I weighed myself right before taking a 90 minute hot yoga class and then directly after and I was 1 lb less, however it probably is all water weight from sweating so much.

It was a great class and its good for strength I think.

Fitness walking vs running - please help May 01 2008

Great.  I love the walking so it seems like its just as beneficial.  I had heard about the 100 cals/mile and I normally do use that as gauge.

thanks for the insight.  I am going to walk for an hour tonight on a 15% incline.  Supposedly that burns like 500-600 cals, which is great!!!

I normally eat more veggies at dinner :)  fruit is a lot easier and quicker to bring to work.  I have very little time to chop things up and such.  so i ate lots of fruit.  Today I did eat more veggies at lunch though :)

I also feel the same way that you do about the 1200 cals.  For me its not the best way to maintain or loose.  But that is me.  For me to loose I need to be around 1000 - 1100.  That has been my experience.
