About

Bio

See Diane Petrella at Psychology Today.

I began writing inspirational articles for the Calorie Count Blog in May, 2009 and I'm thrilled to be part of this wonderful, health-conscious community!  My intention is to share stimulating information filled with easy, fun practice exercises designed to help you access your inner wisdom and intuition.  When you trust your inner voice you naturally are guided to living a healthy, abundant, fulfilling life.

As a life coach and psychotherapist I have helped people transform their lives for over twenty-five years.  Using a mind/body and meta-physical approach, I integrate psychology with spirituality.  I teach my clients how to use visualization, meditation, affirmations and the power of positive thought for empowered healing, emotional growth and lasting change.

Earlier in my career I co-founded the first child sexual abuse treatment program in the State of Rhode Island and have worked with hundreds of women and men who were sexually, physically and emotionally abused in childhood.  Overcoming issues related to their early life trauma often was connected with addressing their relationship with their bodies and food.

My career path also has included advanced training in sport psychology consultation for athletic performance.  Using the mental skills training techniques practiced by professional athletes I developed an exercise adherence program for the every day exerciser to help develop and sustain motivation.  Using the power of your mind it's easy to remain focused on your exercise and health-related goals.

Here is a favorite quote that conveys the essence of my approach in working with people who want to release weight from their bodies and live healthier, more fulfilling lives.

"You cannot solve a problem

from the same consciousness that created it.

You must learn to see the world anew."

                                                                            Albert Einstein

To easily and permanently release weight you must develop a new relationship with your body. The old ways of thinking and relating to your body don't work!

Here's another favorite:

You could search the world over
and never find
anyone
more deserving of your love
than yourself.

Buddha

Bright Blessings~
Diane
