Foods Calories in RINSED baked beans? Jun 29 2008

I'm at a very comfortable weight right now and I was not in any way attempting to nit pick over 50 calories. Counting my calories has now caused me to become much more health conscious, and in my mind, consuming over 600 mg of sodium and 17 grams of sugar for every 1/2 cup of beans is not very healthy. I would prefer to do without that, which is why I planned on rinsing the beans of their salty, sugary sauce. This only made me curious as to how many calories this would eliminate. If i'm going to be ridiculed for asking such questions then I don't know what the purpose of this forum is.

1) You should not be counting calories

2) You shouldn't worry about sodium

3) Yes the ingredient profile and sugar content is not great, but that doesn't mean you can't eat them once in a while. Canned baked beans taste amazing. As long as you don't eat them non-stop, it won't impact your health.

4) There's a fine line between being health conscious and having OCD.

5) The purpose of this forum (imo) is to help people come up with food ideas that taste good and help them meet their realistic dieting goals. Rinsed baked beans do not taste good, and will not help you meet your goals.

6) I am not ridiculing you. I am giving my input. You can disregard it; I'm just some guy on the internet who lost 75 lbs, not god.

Enjoy the BBQ.

Someone posted a question about baked beans yesterday and ironically my mom is making two giant cans of Bush's baked beans tonight as a side for our BBQ. The sodium and sugar content for just 1/2 cup of these things (which is only 1/6 of a can) is ridiculous.  Does anyone know either what type of beans Bush's uses, or better yet, what the calorie content would be if I rinsed off the sauce from the beans? Thanks

Dude, you are not even remotely close to overweight. Eating canned baked beans once in a while will not kill you, I promise.

To answer your question, rinsing them off will maybe save you 50 calories. Not worth it.

Flaky = makes plans then cancels all the time, doesn't return calls, etc...

Attractive = hard to describe...It really depends on the person. I pretty much know when I see it.

I'm not really an expert by any means but it sounds like both of you made some mistakes.

3 dates in one weekend sounds excessive. You might have appeared "too easy" to him, which may have made him lose interest, if that makes sense. I wouldn't want to go on that many dates in one weekend with someone I just met because that sounds kind of unhealthy.

By your own admission, your self-esteem sucks. That's kind of a turn off if it's obvious.

For what it's worth, girls act just as bad as this guy did, if not worse. :-p

You cannot lose fat because you have none to lose.

You need to bulk up. You don't weigh enough, and you eat less than most girls.

ok cc says it does...

Compared to a lot of things, yes it does. But it's misleading because most of the iron in spinach can't be fully absorbed.

I've also never heard of raw meat containing salt.  Preserved meat, yes.  Ready-made burgers or 'seasoned' steaks, yes.... but not the raw material.  Where is it you live?

Raw Kosher meat is going to have salt in it, but I don't know if that's the type she bought.

I heard that your not supposed to eat peanuts or any type of nut before you practice or before you workout because it'll lower your energy or something because of all of the fat that is in it.

But i love peanuts so much and that is pretty much all i have in the house so, what do you think of this theory? Should i eat my peanuts or shouldn't i?

You shouldn't rely on peanuts to be the only food you eat before you work out.

If you're looking at the serving size on a package of frozen goods, the serving size should be in the frozen state.

What changes and by how much?

Do I lose vitamins?

How many calories am I adding?

I dip it in whole wheat flour and then deep fry and then dry on a paper towel.

Its really the only way I can tolerate fish (I know I'm being a whimp) -- is it really that bad?

1) Nothing

2) No

3) It really depends. If your frying oil is at the proper temp, only the surface should take on a lot of oil. Figure you're probably adding 300 calories tops.

4) It's fine. People here have an unhealthy obsession with not eating fried food.

There is no way that walking and biking burned 1700 calories.  No way.  You and everyone else on this website would collapse of exhaustion if they tried to burn 1700 calories.

He biked for 90 mins and walked for an hour. It's very possible.
