You are at a healthy, thin weight now... If you want to eat less 'junk' food, start incorporating healthier food like fruits, veggies, whole grain and protein into your diet- they will naturally fill you up faster. |

I hate to admit but I do not think I ever had a 'pre-ED' time. I've always been odd about food ever since I think I was 5 or 6. |

Coconut milk and sugar. You put it in the canister and shake it up- sugar thickens it up and the No2 makes it all fluffy. I'm glad my thumb's not going to fall off. I need to stop watching medical dramas so much. |

I suffer from a pretty serious eating disorder. no matter how little I weight I will always appear fat in the mirror to myself, I will always feel that way- doesn't mean it's true. You are both of a very low weight- you are toying with something far more serious than you realize when you slip into the mindset that 'less is more' with weight. Your bodies are blessed things and gifts from a force Far Greater than something as simple and low as weight. Blessed be to both of you. |

I was 16 when I moved out, but I stay in contact with my family frequently and they do not live too far away. Sometimes it is like I never moved out though with how often they come by or ask that I see them :/ |

| Weight Loss | Is there such thing as too much fiber? | Apr 21 2012 02:06 (UTC) |

|
A sudden increase in fibre intake can lead to intestinal discomfort, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation and complications from such. If you have always gotten a high level of fibre in your diet (I regularly ingest 100 gram easily in a day with no negative side effects with my GI). If you experience ANY pain, gas, bloating or bathroom issues, cut back on your fibre and increase it at a slower rate. |

http://pediatrics.about.com/cs/usefultools/l/ bl_bmi_calc.htm Here is a link to a children's (20 and younger) BMI calculator. Plug your stats into that and it should give you a range of where is the healthy percentile. |

A healthy deficit for weight loss is 300 - 500, 700 being very high. You may need to increase your intake of higher-energy and nutrient dense foods like nuts, seeds, whole grains and lean proteins if you find your deficit is consistently too high. |

I just got the message. I do not know what to feel. Very sad, I feel like I had failed her as a friend even though I lived so far away from her she did not need to die at such a young age in such a way. I will miss her. I feel so very sad. |

Not too long ago I visited a dietician because I had promised my mother I would try harder to recover. However, I spoke to the dietician/nutritionist who SAID she specialized in eating disorders. It really just turned to a competition of how little we ate, or what foods we avoided in our eating disorders. She told of how little her other patients eat as well, and since I do not starve myself down under 300 calories like some of her other patients, I have little to worry about. Needless to say, I have not gone back and have been gaining ON MY OWN (though slowly) without any 'dietician' telling me what I'm doing wrong. |

Whichever tastes best to you. So long as you are getting the calcium and nutrients you need- it shouldn't matter where it comes from. |

Do you have strange, OCD rituals around food? (cutting it into tiny pieces, for example)? Do you eat enough calories for your activity level? (Teenage male of your height should eat at least 2,800 calories- even more if you are not completely sedentary)? Do you engage in inappropriate compensation behavior after eating a 'large' meal? (Laxatives, over exercise, etc)? Does your life revolve around weight and/or food? Does your mind work off of random, arbitrary numbers (IE- only eat no more than a couple hundred calories? do not like your weight to be over a certain level?) Your weight is VERY low, to a dangerous degree. As in you should probably should be in a hospital. Get your depression treated and your BMI to a more suitable level. |

| Young Calorie Counters | How many calories to eat per day? | Feb 05 2012 22:28 (UTC) |

Probably 3,000 calories or more since you are active. 1,000 calories is not suitable for anyone, and 1,500 is the base minimum for a sedentary teen girl to eat. |

I am still battling with self-injury, and I congratulate you in getting better. I would suggest cocoa butter, or some other ultra-moisturizing lotions. Also, it may not be too healthy, but tanning just slightly may help as well. I think Jergens sells a self-tanner without the risk of skin cancer. |

Up your calories even higher. 3,000 is the MINIMUM for a young teen girl who is as active as you are. Your week is packed with vigorous physical activity meaning you need to be fueling your body even more. Something like 4,000 or even more on activity days. Yes, it is possible it could be genetic- which only means you would need to eat more than a person trying to even recover from an eating disorder. Up your calories more. If you are not gaining on 4,000, move up to 4,500 or even 5,000. |

| Health & Support | colon cleanse | Feb 04 2012 18:38 (UTC) |

THIS. Elvis lead a very rough life towards the end- between eating upwards of something like 4,000 calories a day, taking so many laxatives that, without them, he could not go on his own, and the drugs that had also stopped him up he was not in a good place. His diet had no fibre in it, no veggies, no fruit (save for bananas) and the amount of polysaturated fat from fried and fatty foods in his diet really was not helping him any. Colon cleanses are only really done in a medical standpoint when a colonoscopy needs to be done (I.E- they need to clean you out to put a camera up there) and even then the medical practitioner will let you know what and how it needs to be done. Eat right and exercise, unless you have some severe bowel issues, your colon should be fine. |

UNLESS you are under the supervision of a doctor, nutritionist as well as other health professionals making sure you are not doing irreversable damage- yes, it is very bad. Your body will eat it's organs, it's muscles, you will lose weight but very little of it would be fat. Find out what your BMR is and never eat below that unless, of course, you are under the supervision of a doctor. IF YOU ARE under the supervision of a doctor, why would you be asking us? |
