Ha ha ha! I have 2.

When I was about 14 I was in the airport trying to hurry up and go to the bathroom before my flight. It was my first time wearing nylons and all day I kept thinking about how wierd it was to not feel a breeze under my skirt. So after I went, I was washing my hands and my friend came out of the stall and yelled "WHERE IS YOUR SKIRT?!!!" I looked down and realized that my skirt was hiked up and under my shirt! In a hurry, I had pulled the nylons up and not pulled the skirt down. As I was realizing what had happened the door opened and a huge group of people in the terminal glanced in and saw. They started whistling and laughing. I had to pull my skirt down with soap all over my hands, so for the rest of the day, people I knew made jokes about the "white stuff" on my "dress" (The Lewinsky/Clinton thing had just happened). It was sooo humiliating.

This second story happened to me this summer. I should be banned from wearing skirts:

I was up in the mountains with 3 guy-friends shooting (just target shooting, I would never shoot anything alive). I had just returned from using the facilities (In other words, a bush) and was really glad that I had not been stung on the rear by a bunch of bees that were around. So I am standing and shooting with the 3 guys behind me, and I hear someone run up behind me. I'm thinking 'he has got to be an idiot to try to run up and surprise me with a gun in my hand' but then I feel someone pulling at my skirt (my boyfriend). At first I think he is trying to pull it down and embarrass me, but then I look down and realize he is pulling it back into place so his friends can't see any more of my ass! I had been in a hurry to get away from the bees and had not taken the time to look at me rear to make sure I wasn't flashing anyone. My skirt was hiked up in the back! OMG I tried to laugh it off so they wouldn't feel weird, but inside I was mortified.

Who doesn't take the time to check these things? Me. So yeah...I have revoked my own skirt-wearing privileges.

Fitness sore leg question? Oct 17 2008

I agree that this could be a Deep Vein Thrombosis (blood clot). Calf pain, warmth and swelling of the leg can be signs of this. Is there evidence of bad circulation to that foot like a change in color or sensation? That is a sign that would warrant IMMEDIATE action. It could also be just a muscle tear or another minor activity related injury. I don't know enough about you to say for sure, but I would definitely get this checked out quickly. In the case of DVT, the clot can travel to the lung and cause death. Not to scare ya! It might not be the case, but it is worth getting checked.

Weight Loss I don't understand!!! Sep 22 2008

The same thing happened to me a few years back, and it took a while to get my metabolism back on track. Always eat breakfast. Continue to eat small portions often. Add in some low calorie snacks like veggies to keep your system going. If you do exercise and have a little extra time in your day break your workout into two sessions (with the same total workout time)-- one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Your metabolism stays up for awhile even after you are done, so breaking it up can increase your success. Also add in some weight training if you do not already have it in your routine. Muscle increases your calorie usage even when you are just sitting there. I wouldn't decrease your caloric intake. In fact, I think that with some changes, you could actually increase your caloric intake and still lose weight. Definetly check out the threads about conservation/starvation mode-- they are really helpful as one other person mentioned. When I made some changes, I found that I had a LOT more energy, lost more weight, and felt much better overall.

I also want to mention that a 50 pound loss in 2 months is stressful on the body. And too much protein can speed up or exacerbate kidney damage.

Hahaha You are sick of me now right? Maybe this will be my last post Smile

Oh, and it is NOT appropriate to wait a week or two with these symptoms! If it is something serious, the damage can be blindness, multi-organ damage or failure, electrolyte imbalances (which can lead to heart failure instantly) and many many other things. Your entire body depends on the kidneys. Your blood is toxic without them. You owe it to yourself to make sure they are working.

I am a nurse.

Take it from me-this is not something you should take lightly. If you have a urinary tract infection, you should also be feeling pain with urination and should be going more frequently. Unless you are noticing these things, this is most likely not the cause. I know you feel fine, but most people don't have major symptoms of kidney disease until 75% of kidney function is gone, and this whole time, your body can be damaged. Once your kidneys start to go, it is just a road to organ failure throughout your body. And acute renal  failure can show up immediately. It doesn't have to be over a long period of time. What you are describing can be signs of kidney failure. Another sign of kidney disease is flank (back) pain. Are you having back pain that you attribute to working out? It might be a bad sign. Creatine usually causes kidney disease in those with existing problems, but again you could have problems with your kidneys for years and not know. The Creatine could have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

Are you taking any other medications? Many medications and supplements can turn the urine fluorescent yellow, orange/red, or even green. Brown is not as commonly seen as a side effect of medications. B vitamins tend to turn urine orange or dark yellow, but not usually brown. Brown can be a sign of blood in the urine or bile in the urine, which are often caused by kidney or liver disease.

Another possibility is that you are dehydrated. That is a common side effect of Creatine. When you take Creatine, you need to drink much more water than usual-- and not just when you are thirsty. If you are thirsty, you are already starting to become dehydrated. Don't take dehydration lightly either; without enough water, your kidneys WILL fail.

Here is my advice:

Start by drinking a LOT more water. If this is the cause, you should see a very quick change in the color. If there is no change, you should see a doctor as soon as possible. The urinalysis that they will perform is not very expensive. Make an appointment with your doctor. If you tell them your symptoms, they will try to get you in asap. If you have more or worsening symptoms between now and then, go to the ER.

I know you have no insurance right now, which puts you in a tough spot. Keep in mind, however that there are many hospitals that are required to give care regardless of ability to pay. It could be nothing or it could be something very serious. You just have to ask yourself if you want to take the chance.

Get rid of your big clothes! I have found that this is a major motivation tool. I gave mine away and then 2 sizes later, when I was starting to gain a little bit of weight back, I had fewer and fewer things to wear until I got my butt back in gear.

Also, I would suggets buying jeans that have a small amount of spandex or another stretchy thread listed on the tag. (I'm talking about stretch in all of the fabric- not the waist band) I Love mine. Then you can buy them a bit smaller than usual and they don't look baggy until a lot later than regular jeans.
