The Lounge Thinking About Getting An iPad 2... Oct 12 2011

I have a sony ereader that I love. If you're only getting the ipad for reading, an ereader will be a lot cheaper.

 I initially got my iPad primarily for reading (Kindle app) but now I use it for SO much more than that - I absolutely love it.  :)  But like Rosieii said, if you're ONLY going to use it as a reader, then it would definitely be cheaper to look at the e-readers.

i used to have the hair in butcrack but i found a solution,instead of standing up in the shower with your back turned to the water while shampooing whatever just flip your hair over and shampoo ect..

problem solved.

I do this - works beautifully for me!  I have hair down to my butt, and I just flip my hair over and brush it out before I get in the shower, and then use one of those plastic grabbers to keep it up and out of my way.  I wash and condition my hair first thing (facing the shower, so it doesn't go down my back), and then I use the grabby thingie to keep my conditioned hair out of the way (on top of my head) while I wash the rest of me.  Then I just unclip my hair to rinse the conditioner out.  That makes it easy to wrap my hair in a towel, and brushing it out before I shower actually cuts waaay down on tangles.

I am freaking out a little that it seems that so many are not using a moisturizer with an SPF in it

I second this!  I live in Oregon and I STILL use a moisturizer with at LEAST 15 SPF. (30 if I can get it!)  I've got very fair skin, but I'd use it even if I didn't.  You want the daily SPF to keep your skin looking younger longer if for no other reason - like preventing skin cancer...

If you are still considering co-signing on a car loan, watch a couple episodes of "Judge Judy."  That'll cure you of the idea.

 This!  (I can't believe how much I learned from that show...)  :}

K might have all the best intentions, but if she gets in a bind and can't make the payments, ALL the risk falls on you.  And if she's not in the best of situations right now, her credit score is probably already shot, so what does she have to lose?  Not a thing.

If you do feel the obligation to help her with a car, I'll echo the suggestion of buying the car yourself without her name on it at all, and just have her make the payments to you.

Best of luck, and good for you for opening your home and heart to someone who really needs it.  :)

Love the books; love the series.  The series follows the books pretty darn closely, as far as I've seen so far -- George R. R. Martin was one of the executive producers on the show.

I'm looking forward to reading Dance with Dragons on my e-reader as soon as I've finished re-reading Feast for Crows to refresh my memory...

"Winter is coming."  Yes, it is.

 Would he be willing to compromise and do a half-and-half pizza?  One side just cheese for him, and the other side with veggies for you?

In addition to what everyone else has said so far, be sure you're getting enough water.  You need all the fiber to clump things up, but you also need to have enough fluid in your system to move those things along.

Thank you for this topic -- I have the same problem!  And thanks to everyone with suggestions -- definitely some there I will try!  Of course, getting enough sleep would probably a good idea for me as well...  :P

The last time I went through this, I promised myself that I wouldn't get back to this point again.  And yet here I am.  :P  I think what will help this time is that my husband is finally getting serious about losing weight getting healthy again himself.  (Since "getting healthy" is really the main point, isn't it...?)  :}

Another possibility is that you're gaining muscle while you're losing the fat.  Have you been tracking your measurements? How abut how your clothes - are they feeling any looser?  A pound of muscle takes up a LOT less space in your body than a pound of fat does, after all!

Kasheika, my stats are almost exactly the same as yours!  I'm having a heck of a time getting started this time around, though.

Several years ago I took this same weight-loss journey, starting about 10 lbs higher, and got down to where I saw 160 on the scale!  I gained about 20 lbs back and was pretty comfortable there for a while, even through my husband being laid off and getting Cancer a few years back.  I kept wrestling with my weight, never quite getting the upper hand again,  and then last summer his cancer came back, and with all the stress that came with it, I guess I just gave up. (I did wind up on a mood stabilizer, which might have made "giving up" easier to do, but as much as I'd like to, I know can't blame my gain on that...)

My honey is doing a lot better now, and I really feel like I need to start getting the weight back off.  In this aspect of my life, I'm just not happy with myself.  I've taken that "first step" several times, but the second or third keeps going astray.  It's hard to remember the mindset I had when I was actually successfully travelling the weight loss road and get back to it.

It sounds like you've got some great goals, not to mention good reasons to prompt you to get healthier.  I'm going to take inspiration knowing that you're on the same road, and will take another step.  And then another.  And one more.

Good luck, Kasheika - it won't be easy, but we can do it!

Boredgirl, my husband was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in his Sacrum (the part of the spine that's right above the tailbone) in November of 2005, and then had it reoccur last year in June on his skull!

Luckily it didn't touch his brain, and we were able to finish up with his surgery and all his treatments in 2009, and now he's focusing on recovery.

Congratulations on your remission - we hope to be able to say the same for my husband some time in the future!

I've been missing my exercise this week because of several reasons, and my eating has been okay but not great.  So while I wish it was lower, I can't say I'm surprised by it.  I'm just happy that I'm at least back to my starting weight.  I'm going to leave the last week(s) in the past and just focus on moving forward from here.

I'm up 1 lb.  :(  Not as bad as it could've been, considering Turkey Day (and the weekend after...) and being at the hospital this week with my husband (Nothing catastrophic - he's just getting his Chemo, but it totally messes up my eating patterns...) so I'm not too mad at myself.  Next week will be better!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone, and be sure to enjoy, while still trying to stay strong.  Wink
