I'm a 6'2" 33 year old father and husband. I am losing weight and my goal weight currently is 220 pounds. I know that sounds like a lot, but, I really do have a large frame and I also have a lot of lean mass.
I started on my fitness journey when I reached a hefty sum of 300 pounds. I vowed to myself and my family that I would get in shape and stay in shape. My wife and I joined LA Fitness on March of 2011. I started with cleaning up my diet and doing cardio.
However, I noticed that I was losing weight, but my stomach and pudgy areas were not improving. I discovered I was losing muscle mass and not fat mass. I added weight lifting to my gym time. I started with a program called Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. On June of 2011, I started this program with the following weights: Squats: 185; Bench Press: 135; Deadlift: 225; Rows: 135.
As of January of 2012 my lifting numbers are: Squats: 345; Bench Press: 235; Deadlift: 405; Rows: 210
This program was very successful and now I am embarking on a new program called Mad Cows.
My current weight as of 2012-01-24 is: 242. I've lost 58 pounds so far and I have 22 pounds to go. I am only losing about 0.75 to 1.25 pounds a week now.
Weight lifting, eating right and sleeping right has led me here so far. I am going to reach my goal weight this year and it's going to be awesome!
