That being said, if you want to do it yourself I'd recommend either of the books by Pavel Tsatsouline "The Russian Kettlebell Challenge" or "Enter the Kettlebell"

I eat 2-3 meals a day, with some fruits and nuts in between. If I remember correctly I believe Eddie eats about 5 times as much food as I do, so in that case you have to eat more meals.

hahaha...I was taking in roughly 5-6000 calories, but on my off days I don't....

But what you guys are saying is still the same isn't it?...Like I eat breakfast lunch and dinner, but I eat  (like you said) fruits and veggies and grains for snacks in between...

but they are saying basically adding protien to your 6 meals a day will lower your insulin...sooooooo take in more protein per meal and what I said is still correct.  unless I'm reading it wrong...

so far it has been working for me, and the doctor has ben telling me that my blood looks great.  Thanks for the article though...it sheds light on some things I didn't know...if it's true.  I don't tend to believe most things on the net....lol

I'm 51 and am currently repeating New Rules of Lifting for women for the 3rd time.  I've done this program and just finished Female Body Breakthrough and also a few weeks of Stronglifts.

I don't do steady state cardio I haven't stepped on a cardio equipment since July.  I do the metabolic circuits on my non lifitng days as well from FBB

I lift 3 days a week and circuits on off days usually take weekends off

I was losing inches pretty steadily until I sort of fell off eating clean.  Working on getting back to eating right so I can start losing some weight again.

that comment is KEY Smile...good for you

What is this I don't even...

She should stick to offering medical advice and contract out her training tips to someone who actually, you know, can train people.

The overarching theme wasn't terrible per se, but she took a hard left turn into "not even wrong" territory once she started conflating Pilates/yoga with proper strength training. And the cardio recommendations are just overkill unless you've got specific performance goals - and even then a good training plan will schedule recovery days and easy base-building sessions in addition to high-intensity work; her recommendation for hard cardio 5 days a week makes no sense whatsoever unless she wants to kill people's motivation through overtraining.

But apart from - well, all of the training advice - sure; do some cardio, do some strength training; prioritize strength over endurance and don't expect to see any results whatsoever unless you take control of your diet.

I totally agree she is insane...lol

I say eat 5-7 meals a day...basically every 2-3 hours depending on your eating habits...the foods should be healthy obviously you should know what to eat...I only do cardio twice a week...and my stamina and endurance is just where I want it.  Eating like this people usually say doesn't work (some people) but nobody really explains what it does...so let me try to help a bit...  Melkor feel free to chime in...I love your comments

eating every 2-3 hours regulates your insulin levels in your body...instead of eating just breakfast lunch and dinner and having your insulin Spike every time causing you to get sleepy everyday at 2:30 (sounds like you? ehhh) insulin is a fat storing hormone so not regulating it causes your body to store fat and then you wonder why your gaining weight; however, the key is to control your calorie intake while balancing your insulin. Proper nutrition is simple once you are in a routine...but i t may at times be hard to get there...

good luck...

to be honest in my opinion working out more than 3 times a week and not seeing results pretty much means you have an inefficient program.  REST is JUST as important as the actual workout (as is nutrition).

For fighting I was working-out everyday, and I did notice lots of things about my body especially the fact that it was over-worked sometimes.

Now I lift twice a week, and do Martial arts 3 times a week, and I notice that my body has changed much faster, and the workouts feel much better.  I've also noticed that my endurance and stamina is far superior to EVERYONE I have fought so far.  Because I have a set plan and a set nutrition schedule that I follow... everything seems so much easier.  I change my routine every 3 weeks, so it would be difficult to write them here, but I can tell you that I do lots of super sets and circuit training and I pay attention to my Form, my rest time , and I track my workout progress to reach certain goals.  If you do not track your progress and try to improve what you did the week before...then you will be static in your efforts IMO.

My nutrition is simple...eat healthy foods every three hours...Breakfast, snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, snack... allowing myself to miss only 3-4 meals a week.

Together with my workout plan...I've developed a solid muscular frame, stability, strength, and total body alignment which most people fail to take into account.  before I did a weight program my MMa coach had me improve my stabilizer muscles doing certain exercises, and my power has increased so much that none of my fights last more than 2 minutes anymore.

so basically I think it's important to understand the QUALITY of your workouts rather than focusing on how many times you workout per week.

Have a great day....
