It wasn't directed at you.  I appreciate your looking out for me to make sure I'm being smart about it.  I was reading other articles and things and it got me all wound up.  The temps aren't bad here--I live in the mountains--but I'm in the middle of nowhere.  There are no good places to go run, no parks, no decent gym, and the only other people that run are in WAY better shape than I am, and I feel stupid chugging along behind them.  That's not to say I couldn't make it work if I tried a little harder :)  Like I said, I'm just trying to make due until June, when I can get back to a place where I feel comfortable running.

I do run outside occasionally, too.  But it's just easier after work to run in the apartment, either around the apartment or just jogging in place.  I live in Arizona right now, at 7000 ft elevation.  in June, I'm moving back to Michigan, in a better jogging environment.  So I'm just trying to make due until then.

There's a serious shortage of decent pavement where I live, and it's not a good place for a woman to be out running alone.  I like to go to the school track, but it's now track season so the students are on it until five or six in the evening.

I've started this program many times--I say started because I usually crap out about week 2.  I've developed an odd sort of system that involves running in my apartment.  I have an entire empty room, so I run from one side of the apartment to the far side of the empty room, around the kitchen, and back.  Hopefully using this system I can make SOME progress.  I thought I was going to die before I tried it, but the first day wasn't that bad.  I want to do the Color Run 5k in Ann Arbor this summer, so that's my goal.

Weight Loss Does anyone have any weird goals? Mar 30 2012

When I started my weight loss journey, my bra size was 42 C.  About forty lbs lighter, I'm now a 38DD (don't ask me how that works) but you'd never know it to look at me!  So I guess my weird goal is to actually LOOK like someone who wears a DD size bra.  TMI?

Weight Loss Cheat day Feb 28 2012

There's nothing wrong with taking a day off every once in a while.  My weekends usually end up being my cheat days.  You just have to be careful to balance out the extra calories with more exercise/water.  The less you deprive yourself, the easier it will be to stick with your diet.

I did the 30 straight minutes of exercise.  The short bursts were just periodically throughout the evening.  Out of an hour, I was probably jogging for about 35 minutes of it, but with breaks between--using the restroom, talking to friends/family on the computer, etc.

Young Calorie Counters can you lose weight in your hands? Feb 20 2012

You can absolutely lose weight in your hands!  I definitely did.  I've lost about 35lbs.  I have a ring that went from fitting my ring finger, to fitting my middle finger, and now I have to keep it in my jewelry box because it's so loose, I'm afraid it'll fall off.

I just plugged your height, age and weight into the calculator and this is what I got:

You should consume about 1,802 calories a day to reach your goal weight of 135 lbs . This is at a reasonable weight loss average of 1.5 lbs per week, which should be reached by June 02, 2013.

I used the "light activity" setting.  I don't think you are eating enough!

I think you were right; I just wasn't eating enough.  Since I've upped my calories every day, I have consistently lost weight.  I went from 240-ish to 238.2 in just the last few days!

For some reason, I can't stand carbonated water, unless it's flavored, which I feel is sometimes just as bad as pop.

I do have a Soda Stream.  Does anyone know if that makes pop "healthier" than regular canned and bottled pop from a store?

Hmmm...I suppose it's possible.  Maybe that's why on my "pig out" days, I somehow manage to LOSE weight.  As far as activity goes, I'm somewhere between sedentary and lightly active.  I'm still going back up and down those same two pounds, by the way.  I hate it.  I get so discouraged, I want to eat everything in sight.  Which would not help my situation.

I'm 23, 5'6, current weight fluxuates between 239-241 lbs.  I've set my calorie intake limit at 1500, and almost always manage to stick to it.  I never go more than 1700.

Health & Support eating disorder????? Jan 30 2012

I would say you definitely have a disorder, and you should seek help immediately.

But in the immediate, try to remember that a calorie isn't something to make you fat.  It is something to give you fuel to help your body work.  300 calories isn't NEARLY enough.  You're putting your body through serious abuse.  The absolute minimum most adults should consume is 1200, and since you're younger, probably clsoer to 1600 for you.  You're burning probably upwards of 1000 calories in exercise every day, and only taking in 300.  You're not even eating enough toc ompensate for your extra exercise, nevermind basic body functions like breathing, digesting, walking, thinking clearly, etc.

115 lbs at 5'5 is below a healthy weight.  I'm only an inch taller than you, and my healthy range is around 135.

Weight Loss sedentary or light life style? Jan 30 2012

I have the same question!  I'm a teacher, so I'm on my feet a lot of the time most days, then when I get home, I usually sit and watch tv, but I'm constantly getting up to put something away, change my clothes, feed the cat, etc.  My "resting" is usaully fairly active.  I'm a squirmy person.  Lately I'm trying to exercise at least 3 times a week.  So am I sedentary or lightly active?

No, it's total deficit.  Calorie intake and with the exercise.  Thanks for clearing that up for me!

I did the first day of C25k, which is a half hour.  According to CC, I have a net calorie burn of 1400 calories today.  Is that normal, or too high?

I'm a bit of a shopaholic, so I've set the goal for myself that I can't buy new clothes until all--or at least most--of the ones I own are too big.  But I let myself get some new exercise clothes, because we all need those :)

I'm sure this isn't what you're looking for, but when I'd lost 26 lbs, a friend informed me that that was two fairly heavy bowling balls.  A great visualization!

Weight Loss Things to look forward to? Jan 20 2012

I've been overweight for my whole life, so I am honestly not sure what I am looking forward to seeing, because chances are I have never seen it. =)

I am looking forward to two things in particular:

Buying clothes I would never normally buy such as tall leather boots to wear with a skirt.

And doing things that have a weight restrictions such as ziplining, tree top canopy climbing, hand gliding etc...

I guess in a way I'm also just looking forward to seeing what I actually do look like at the end.

I've been overweight my whole life too!  I haven't been below a size 18 since I was in middle school.  I was flirting with a 24 for a while, but I refused to make that move up a size, so it was either lose weight or give up on wearing pants.  So, I've gone from a tight 22 to a comfortable 18, and I'm hoping to be a 14 by the time summer rolls around.  I'm so excited to see what the world holds for me when I don't have to shop in the Big Lady section of every store!!
