Motivation I can't resist the temptation around this time of the year, what should I do? Dec 18 2007

Hi,

I'm having the same issues - there's chocolate everywhere at work and home! I polished off an *entire* Stilton cheese by myself too.

So to stop me getting too carried away I've bowed to the inevitable and allowed myself three days (Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Years Day) on which I can eat anything I like - guilt free.

The deal is, though, that until then I have to resist the sweet stuff totally.

It's working too - instead of saying 'oooh...go on', I'm saying 'oooh...no thanks.' It's not always easy (there's a giant box of Cadbury's sitting right next to my desk as I type) but I'm thinking of those three guilt free days...

When I couldn't get into any of my trousers and none of my tops covered my hips! That got me going.

Now the christmas party (on friday - eeek!) is keeping my going. I looked like a whale last year. This year I'm wearing a size twelve  dress (UK size) when I used to be size18!

Aw, don't worry about it. If they are as nice as you say, they probably didn't want to make a big deal about it and have you think that they thought you needed to loose all that weight.

I bet afterwards they were all like "Didn't jzlady look GREAT?!" to each other. :)

Mmmm...peanut butter kit kat. So lovely but so not worth it.

Here's some motivation for you:

I used to eat a peanut butter kit kat every day. And THAT is why I'm here needing to loose the weight.

I've always thought of 'curvey' as being a woman with an hourglass figure - regardless of the size of the woman.

My most uncommon one is that I want to be able to wear knee high boots! (When I try them I can't get the zips up)

Hi everyone,

No posted in a while, but don't worry - I didn't go back to my old ways at all. My weight has just stayed the same because I've not been fighting the fat as much.

But I'm back in the game now!

Had the best feeling ever on Saturday - went shopping for a Christmas dress. I didn't get one (there wasn't a christmas dress anywhere! Can you believe it?) but I got a top and it was a size twelve! I couldn't believe it. I tried it on twice to be sure!

I haven't been a size twelve ever! I went straight from teen-wear into size sixteens.

My mission (no offense guys) is to get out of this group asap. I'm only 152 now!

Hi - thought I'd join in since slow weight loss seems to be working out for me.

I started in January at 173 and now I'm 153, which probably works out at less than a pound a fortnight, but hey, at least it's working!

The best thing to do is get on the scales and see the damage. You can't work on damage control if you don't know how bad it is, and nothing the scales show can be worse than what you imagine.

You don't have to go to WW to weigh yourself - just nip onto a store machine and then you know what you're dealing with. If you've put on a lot, you will shock yourself into eating well, and if you've only put on a bit you'll be motivated to do better in future and go back to WW.

And you never know - you might not have put on. I thought I'd put on a couple of pounds this week and I was down one. The body can be a mysterious thing.

Highest weight: 173, back in January. I can't believe I got that high while still mentally believing myself to be lower than that.

Lowest weight: 153, my current weight and it's dropping all the time. I want to be under 140 eventually.

I did it!

I've hit my first goal of 153 lbs - which puts me under 11 stone for the first time in...a long time. I can't believe I've gone from 173 lbs to 153!

I just want to lose another 13 lbs to be at my first 'big' goal of 140.

I'm down a pound to 154, so only 9 lbs to go!

I think we should all promise to have our photo taken in a fancy dress outfit if we hit our goal...

Got weighed this morning and I'm 154! Only one pound off my first big 'goal'! (see my journal for more on this)

Today I'm gonna exercise extra hard to try and get rid of that damn pound!

Talk on the phone as much as possible - you cant talk to customers around a mouthful of food.

Take no food in with you (except lunch) and only bring essential money so you can't buy food.

Set daily snacktimes at 10/11 am and 3/4pm where you are allowed a peice of fruit.

Otherwise I keep a tally sheet on my desk. Everytime I resist food, I give myself a point. After a while getting more points feels better than eating.

And shame on you people encouraging internet use! I mean, everyone does it to a certain extent but it's not something that should be part of your job.

I'll join too, as it's in line with my mission to loose 14 by Christmas.

I'm currently 155, so I'm hoping for 145 by Halloween.

Just think of all the cute costumes we could buy! No more hiding under 'ghost' sheets!
Motivation Inspiration? Sep 16 2007

There's a lot of things that motivate and inspire me.

I want to be able to wear a gorgeous dress that fits well and looks good at the Christmas Party instead of looking like a barge swathed in turquoise.

I want to be an example for my mum and dad - both of whom are obese - that if I can break the habit even living in a house filled with sugar and fatty food, so can they.

I want to prove to my grandfather - who thinks that me and my parents can't stick at anything- that I can achieve things.

I want some male attention goddamit! I've always just been a fat little girl - I want to be a slender woman now.

Hiya,

Sorry you're all having bad times of it. However TTotM will end soon enough and you'll be back on your games!

I'vve done really well the last two days - I've done two 40 minute hard aerobic dance workouts and I'm down a pound today (see my journal for the drama that that was this morning!)

I'm now 155 - halfway to the 140 club and only two pounds off my first goal weight.
