I like the lean muscle meal from GNC. I also like the weight watchers smoothies.

Weight Loss UGHH, over-ate a bit.. Is this a problem? Help? Jun 24 2009

Have you ever tried taking plant enzymes or beano? I used to have that problem pretty badly myself and I went to my health food store to get some info on the beano and they showed me the plant enzymes. It covers almost everything instead of just beans and greens. The brand name is NOW (white bottle, orange wrapper with purple accents). This really helped me to not have my weight fluctuate as much.

Also how much is your salt intake? How much is your water intake? You can go to about.com and look up their hydration test to find out how much water you should be drinking on top of what you get out of your food. I was surprised to find out that I should be having atleast 10 cups a day.

Your digestive tract might not be healthy right now, a way that this would come across would be if you get sick a lot. Our immune system is in our digestive tract, and I used to be really unhealthy. I would get 6-7 sinus infections a year and that isnt even including the colds I would come down with, no energy, etc. I started taking Astragalus 4 years ago and I have only had 2 sinus infections since then! You can also try taking Accidopholus supplements for this as well, although too much of it can make you go... often. Keep in mind a healthy digestive tract will help keep the bloating down.

Hope this helps!

Weight Loss HOW is this even possible?!?! Jun 23 2009

It took me about three weeks, Im sure you will be back 'on track' within a month. Everyones body is different so dont get discouraged if yours doesnt react like mine. One of the things I did was I realised if I pushed the threshold everyday it got worse. If I kept it to pushing the threshold to twice a week I did a lot better. I also made sure to get enough protien otherwise my muscles felt really weak. Just remember the gain that you see is not fat! It is your body building the muscle that you should have and once it gets to where it needs to be it will eat up some of the extra fat. The closer you are to your goal weight the longer it takes. :)

Whenever you start excercising, especially when you jump into a lot of it at once, you will end up retaining some water. If you are feeling sore that can be a good indicator. I know when I have a higher than usual excercise day (playing paintball every two weeks) I gain the next day. It is good that you are watching your measurements instead of the scale, you will see a difference there. Hang in there, the same thing happened to me and I ended up evening back out and losing weight, it just took some time. :)

Weight Loss cc v. weight watcher. Those who have done or are on ww come in pls. May 22 2009

I absolutely loved WW! I am useing this site for personal reasons right now, but I would totally use ww again if it was possible.

CC and WW have a lot of the same guidlines. They both preach about eating right and eating in a way that you dont deprive yourself. They both have a lot of information and help from others. I will say that a plus for ww is they have the weekly meetings and weigh ins so that you can be held accountable if you have a problem with keeping with it. They also have acknowledgements when you have an accomplishment. For someone starting out and having emotional problems staying with it this can be a tremendous help. I will say that the comradery that you get from the meetings is something that is really cool. I still see people from my 'group' and it makes me happy everytime!

With any kind of 'diet' you can beat the 'system' and try and cheat or you can stick to it, it depends on the individual. I have seen that whether it is atkins, Jenny Craig, WW, CC, South Beach, whatever it is at the time, that people are prone to not stay with and motivate themselves to live better and healthier. It is just too easy to give up. I think it comes down to the person not the plan.

*stepping down from my soapbox* lol

I would definetly reccomend weight watchers. I have used them twice and they work great! I love the fact that you have the accountability from going to the meetings. I also love the fact that weight watchers puts out a lot of foods and products that can help you with your weight loss. I would have been in weight watchers but right now I cannot justify spending the money.

( I absolutely love their whipped cream cheese spread, it tastes like the real thing!! YUM!)

UGH! Im still all confused! One of the problems is I cant put it into the recipe analyser because moose meat does not come up on it. Also moose meat is sooo low in fat there really wasnt any left by the time I put it in the marinade.

How do I calculate the difference between raw and cooked?

UGH! I dont want to stop eating moose because it is good for me and cheaper too, but it is really annoying trying to put it into the food log on here!! lol

EDIT: I just got done looking it up in the food log and low and behold it was there! It wasnt before. This is what it says for cooked...

3 ounces eqauls 114 calories       Should I got by that???   Thanks. Embarassed

It is your body, they arent in there with you and cannot tell you when your body is telling you that you need a rest or that you need to switch it up a bit. It is good to switch things up, keep your body on its toes and avoid a plateau!

My vote is they should be supporting you not hindering you. The bottom line is women are born with an intution, listen to yours.

Try switching things up a little bit. Try a completly new activity once a week, or try doing the things you are doing at a different time of day. Make you body stutter so to speak.

Also are you finding that you are eating a lot of the same foods? Look in your cookbook or online and pick out three new recipies to try, and make them all this week. Somethings got to give eventually.

I know this is a little gross but, have you been going to the bathroom regularly? Sometimes you can get an accumulation of waste built up in your body. I have found when this happens to me that if I try to get more fiber than normal it helps move things along. You would be surprised how much poop can weigh.

Weight Loss drinking water? May 16 2009

Yes it is 8 ounces! There is a test on about.com that will give you the amount of water you should drink per day. It is different for everyone. I think its called a hydration test or something like that.

I used to be a soda addict and I only drink a soda once a week now, sometimes I have wine on the weekends. It has helped me in a lot of ways, I dont even crave other things to drink now. It helped my skin, digestion, fatigue levels, joints aching. I also take a LOT less ibuprophen now, im sure there are a lot of other things it helps that I just havnt noticed. :)

Thanks for the advice guys!

I have another questions for you... What do you do to avoid sore butt bones? I put a seat on my bike with extra suspension and it also has gel packs on it. I dont get as sore as I used to but I do still have some soreness. Thanks! Smile

something that is really low impact is swimming, maybe it wouldnt make your foot hurt. I know when I go swimming my legs get really tired.

Do you remember the leg lifts from the 80's ? The ones where you lay on your side and lift your leg up? Kind of like scissors. That would be a way to increase thigh muscles without hurting your foot. You could also lay flat on your back slowly bring your leg up and bend the knee as far as you can, then slowly bring it back down.

There are also wieght lifting machines at the gym that dont require you to use your feet. I am sure if you ask about having help with a workout plan they would help you, especially when you are a beginner member.

Have you looked any of the excersices up on this site or on the internet? There are a lot of really informational websites out there.

Good luck!

Ftay Yeah the heart rate monitor would be the best but it is too expensive for me right now. I totally didnt take it as snooping! lol I am working with a physical therapist right now and I am wearing an SI brace at all times ( ugh! even to bed!). She also has me using some inserts in my shoes. It was amazing how much pain just those two things took away! She is also having me do certain excercises to strengthen my core muscles and the muscles around my spine. I make double sure that I only pump with my legs, lol, she and I were just talking about that today. Thanks for the concern though! Smile

Janebdemented I have been really pushing myself to eat more protien for just that reason. I looked it up on the foodpyramid.gov site and for someone of my stature it should be 50 grams a day. I have been using the GNC lean muscle meal and been making myself smoothies and stuff. The problem with switching it up is I am only aloud to do certain excersices right now. I changed my status to light activity yesterday and I will see whether it helps or not. I figure I'll wait a week or two. Thanks for the help though!

Foods burgers without breadcrumbs May 12 2009

The bread crumbs are used to keep the meat from falling apart when you cook it, in other words its the glue. You can also use one egg per lb to lb and a half of meat. You can also use grated cheese to hold the meat together, I love to add the cheese to my super burgers, YUM! Smile

Weight Loss How to count if you don't eat all of the food on your plate ... ? May 12 2009

If you weigh your food beforehand you should be able to put what is left back on the scale and just subtract it from your original number to figure out how many calories you ate.Smile

Thanks for the advice guys!

Mommakitty The day I started I measured myself and again about a month ago and today. I have lost a total of 9.5 inches all over my body. The problem is my clothes are not fitting differently either so im pretty sure I am not losing weight or inches right now, very frustrating.

Ftay Im not riding a stationary bike, I am out on the bike path(in the rain and wind today and yesterday) in my neighborhood and it is not all completly flat riding. When I ride I use a lower gear on my bike ( the one with more resistance) so that I am peddaling harder also, and like I said I dont stop pedaling and coast. I am sweating and have a hard time having a conversation, so I just assumed it was moderate. What do you think?

Weight Loss Lazy Day May 08 2009

It sounds like you are looking at it as a daily count. I thought you were supposed to average it out in a week or a month. Say you were to add up your daily burn and your daily intake for a week, see what you end up with for a deficit and then break it back down, and see what your average daily counts and burn would be. Maybe it will help to look at it that way instead. Im no expert but I wouldnt stress over it too much, it was only one day and you have a really active lifestyle on a normal basis. I know what you mean with your job giving you a big burn rate, I am a carpenter and you would be amazed what it can get to in a day. But when I turn around and average it out I dont get so worked up over it.
