Even without an eating disorder, there are plenty of meal plans to increase your intake in the weight gain forum. Sometimes individuals are just underdeveloped (no offense) and are naturally pretty scrawny.

Log how many calories you eat on average in a day- you may be surprised by how little you eat. If you are eating around 2,500 (which is recommended for semi-active young females) you need to increase to about 3,000 at least. Foods like nuts, seeds, nut butters, lean meats and proteins will be your friend.

16 years of dance, 12 years of ballet, 9 years of modern. En Pointe is a good goal to try and reach, but it is really, REALLY tough on all of your joints. Just focus on your eleves, the stronger you can pull up the better. Are you dancing independently or in a course?

He was briefly in Back to the Future, and at least the first two of those didn't turn out too badly?

He was? He wasn't REALLY... wasn't he in Biff's gang of cronies?

Good thing you mentioned Titanic (which I don't think is a particularly good movie, but it did win awards...), otherwise I was gonna ask you what qualified as a 'good' movie... Ron Perlman? Eh, he does a pretty good job of making bad choices on his own.  (Don't judge me, but) He was great as Hellboy, but he is a much better TV actor, really. SOA is a good series. Or was, not so much anymore

The last part of the season was pretty phoned in.

I would say to watch 'City of Lost Children', which is a good film, but not ALL of his films were too terrible. Better track record than the Zane-man...

Maintaining sick and calories? Jan 16 2012

In theory it should, since you would be in bed all day and whatnot.

HOWEVER, most of your calories become devoted to ensuring your body is making enough white blood cells to fight any infection or sickness your body has. If you have a fever, your body is burning more energy in an effort to 'cook out' the illness.

Keep eating your maintenance level and stay in bed. Hope you feel better.

I broke my jaw playing roller derby back when I was, like, 18 and managed to keep my weight pretty stable on things like Smoothies and thick cream-based soups.

Also, despite being listed as a 'diet aid', Slimfasts are a good way to get in nutrients and- if you don't mind it tasting like corrugated metal, isn't too bad. There are also brands like 'Ensure' and I think Carnation makes instant breakfasts that give you the calories and nutrients you need. But then again, that is if you essentially have your jaw wired shut.

Maybe blend some things?

I would like to add, that as a former Baldie- you have more going for you as a Bald man than I would probably have during my 'Sinead O'Connor' period of life. Men who are bald tend to be viewed as competent, confident people (or at least shaved headed men). While if you are female, you tend to be viewed as either a Neo-nazi or a psycho.

You were a former baldie? So did you...grow your hair back? Sorry, just a little confused.

But I would have to disagree with you on some of that. Natalie Portman was bald...and I still found her insanely attractive.

Yeah, I used to have at least 2-4 pounds of dreadlocks that I got tired of. Only way to get rid of dreadlocks is to cut them off. Stayed a suede for a couple of years and started growing back my hair maybe a year ago (which helped me to land a pretty swank job as well).

And Natalie Portman is kind of an outlier for that- it helps she is naturally drop dead smack dab gorgeous. She could probably wear oversized clown pants and a fishing boot on her head and still look ace. Don't get me wrong, a chick who shaves her head can still be gorgeous, but when looking for a respectable job it's kind of difficult to nab something good. And the comments asking if I was 'OK' (AKA if I had cancer or something) were buggy. Some people just can't seem to accept that some women want to be bald.

But I'm rambling. Rock your no-hair like there is no tomorrow. Just be sure to use a gentle sunscreen on your scalp for a while and invest in some hats you really dig for sunny days outside. Scalpburns hurt pretty dang bad- but if you've been rocking it for 2 years I'm sure your scalp has adjusted.

Well thank you very much. Honestly good advice from you indeed.

Out of curiosity, what job did you land?

I have gotten used to the baldness, but am now working on getting in good shape.

Hell...It works for Statham.

my God it does work for him.

While I was bald I worked in a government agency with troubled youth, but back then I also wore a Hijab to work on occassion, so many co-workers thought I was 'sick' (Was a devout Muslim back in the day, bit more relaxed now). I think the only reason they let me keep my hair so short was because of that... otherwise I think I would have been fired long before I was actually let go (long story on that one).

NOW that I have a good amount of hair on my head, I work as a councilor for deaf students at a local high school and as an interpreter aid when not in my big comfy office. I know for a fact they tend to have a more conservative outlook at that school (I was lucky enough to keep my action figurines in my office but can't go all out with the pierced ears and whatwhat) so I am sure they would have overlooked my resume in the interview if I went in suede. Since I don't have tenure, I still have to keep pretty conservative at work. A little soul crushing, but not too bad considering the line of work.

Still miss it though- kept me way cooler than I am now, sheesh.

Young Calorie Counters What Is It Like to Not Obsess About Food? Jan 15 2012

Original Post by kirac20:

I've never obsessed about food, if i'm hungry i'll eat and if i'm not hungry i don't eat. The majority of people i am guessing are probably like this. Sometimes on rare occasions i'll eat out of boredom and sometimes i don't eat because i just can't be bothered.

I joined cc to lose my love handles which had expanded slightly over Christmas, thought i'll get it under control before i have difficulty fitting into small spaces

I understand that having restrictions on food growing up would instill the wrong attitude towards food in you, i don't get how people with eating disorders constantly ignore hunger pangs? Would take a stronger person than me.

First ever post on a forum, cherry has been officially popped, whoop.

How's it feel to no longer be a forum virgin? Woo hoo! Also, the ignoring of hunger pangs have less to do with 'strength' and more with mental illness- just thought I would add.

As for Doll_eyes- I like to think my view on food and weight have done a complete 180 in my life. From being completely obsessed with calories, food and weight to being actually happy with my body and how I treat it. I am a rare case, but I just woke up one morning and seemed to realize what I was doing. I still have my times of not being happy, but really I save a shazzload of time just not caring if I am fatter than the person next to me (I am at a healthy weight, so even if I am, I am still healthy) or by living life by some arbitrary rules set up by my own twisted mind.

Stay strong, kiddlet, you know how to get a hold of me.

I like them. If you have the skull-shape for bald hair, then rock it. All about confidence though.

You looking for Digital or Film cameras?

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS25 that I use for some photoprojects that is under 200 USD, but it is digital and the buttons are fraggin miniscule.

For less intense projects I use the Nikon Coolpix. It comes in fun colors and takes some decent pics (like the one of the dogs).

Young Calorie Counters how much should a 14 year old weigh??? Jan 15 2012

Ah, fourteen. I do NOT miss that age at all.

Don't sweat it, kidd-o-rooney, don't focus on weight right now in your life. Try to focus on making sure you get at least five servings of fruit and veggies a day, whole grains, lean proteins- basically feeding your body to keep that big, beautiful brain of yours going strong and processing all that information you'll be learning for, well, the rest of your life.

Also, kudos for being 5'8"... I feel like a midget with this new group of kids coming in. Darn me for coming from a family of little elf people...

I love the reason your mom gave for dropping off the stuff :-D Lol!

Yeah, my mom knows how to cut to the chase.

Then again, I'm fully convinced she's Regina George in a 53-year-old female body builder's body.

LOL at sleeping...

I typically watch Disney movies when I am not feeling good. Then again, I typically tend to lose all hearing ability when I am sick, so it is more like background movement than noise for me.

Favorites are:
1. Lady and the Tramp
2. Pinocchio
3. Beauty and the Beast
4. Aladdin
5. 101 Dalmatians (My favorite Disney movie ever. Because watching a horrible old anorexic woman try to kill puppies makes my day for some reason).

Also I watch Labyrinth- something about David Bowie's massive hanging... gang of muppets makes me feel better.

They did stuff a lot of socks in there, didn't they...

I dunno... I'm going to just accept the lie then, muahaha

Dangerous move there, chicklet.

I always have that problem, then end up doing nothing, only mounting to the stress.

I would suggest making a list of things by importance and getting those done first. Then again, that may take some time too.

Cruddles.
