Just an update, sorry I haven't been around much, how is everyone doing?

I am now down to 175lbs from 190.5lb in this task (started at 210.5)

My thighs are now at 24 inches, so that is an inch for a stone off I am hoping that it will be a little easier as i get closer to goal

Progress Smile although my measurements haven't changed much there is a definate gap appearing. Standing up there is about a half inch gap at the top of my thighs and with my knees together there is a gap for about 6 inches above my knees. Smile

How do you stand exactly? feet together or a couple inches apart?? cuz if I stand with my feet together there's no gap at all Cry

Feet together I get the gap for 6 inches above my knees, although this has only appeared recently. Standing normally theres a gap all the way up, again this wasn't there before I lost weight.

Hey I was just wondering whether getting "the gap" is genetic?

I look at my legs and if I ignore the fact I seriously need to lose more weight I feel that this goal is achievable.

I know my mum at 5ft 4 and 133lbs has the gap. (not that I am jealous)

I don't mean to be Debi-downer but just to let you know for some people the gap is an impossibility, as when I was 99 lbs recently my thighs still touched. Maybe if I was more toned rather than skinny it would be different ... not sure, but I don't think it's the healthiest of ways to measure weight-loss success for everyone.

Hey thanks nycgirl, I think all of us know that this may indeed be an impossibility, for me I guess I will have to wait and see. I still have a long way to go with my weight loss. Our main aim is to be healthy and hopefully have lovely toned legs :) (along with the rest of our body). As for being 99lbs and still not having the gap, my weight loss will stop many pounds above this so I guess I will have to wait and see.

Cool.

I started off at the very righthand end of the yellow area and am now just teetering on the border between yellow and green.  I think that's probably about right for how I look/feel.  My target waist will put me somewhere in the middle-to-right part of the green area.

Great progress!!! I too am just at the top end of the green area and I can definately see that I can make some improvements. I remember when I was younger trying so hard to get below 27 cm but not being able to, if only I had seen this chart then

I'm 6'1.5" and my waist is 28", that puts me in the brown but I'm definitely not too thin and my gut is where I need to lose my extra pooch.

I guess this chart it like the bmi and things like height can affect its accuracy. BTW you look fantastic well done in loosing so much weight

Thanks, my aim is to try and be a healthy weight (168lbs ) by new years... start the year as I mean to go on.

I don't know whether I will make it as I haven't been below 174lb since I was about 14 but its sure worth trying for.

My measurements are exactly the same apart from I am down another 2lbs to 186.5 lbs. I think this is going to be a very long time group as i don't think these thighs will shift in a hurry.

This week, I am getting into the habit of always taking the stairs rather than the lift, so far I have kept to this but I had a trip to the hospital yesterday and 44 flights of stairs later my legs are killing me. I shall post measurements later.

The first thing I am going to say is that you have lost over 10% of your body weight, that is fantastic and comes with many health benefits.

Secondly, I know exactly how you feel. I have gone from 210.5 to 188.5 (i am 5'8/9) I have also gone down 1 clothes size, but yet still every time I looked in the morror I didn't think I had changed. I still see my huge arms, belly and thighs. It was only after looking at recent pictures compared to the start of my weight loss and you know what, I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but I can definately see an improvement. So I can only imagine what benefits I will see in another 22lbs

So go take pictures and measurements take them every few weeks and watch your body transform, your health improve and your confidence soar.

What do you people consider a 'gap'? I have a definite gap between my thighs, but it doesn't go all the way up to my inner thigh. In fact when I was 115lbs at 5'7", my thighs still hung out together up there because my hips are small for my size/height. I think I'd have to be a rotting corpse for there to be no gap. Just curious

that works as a gap to me. At the moment my thighs touch from inner thigh to my knees

I think I would be happy with that. I am the same as girlfighting27 there is not a gap to be seen. I am not one to push my body to unneccesary extremes.

Sorry.. but this doesn't seem to fit in the parameters of a healthy weight loss plan.  Striving for something as superficial and meaningless as a gap between your thighs is pretty scary.  Usually I don't respond to these things, but really... I hope healthier goals are ahead for all of you, and wish you the best on your health and happiness.

First thing is this is not a weight loss group as such, the only reason I am posting my weight is because I need to lose weight, 190lbs for me is not healthy nor particularly attractive.

(I will not be encouraging people that are already at the low end of their healthy weight to be losing weight but I will support them in their attempt to create a more toned body inc. more toned thighs)

Secondly for me this is not purely superficial, its not a great feeling in the summer to feel your legs rubbing together.

Thirdly I feel I should clarify that although I realise that this may be unattainable for many, from what I can see (I have a large frame with fairly wide hips) at the moment I feel this goal is achievable, if it is not then I will re-evaluate at a later date.

To everyone else GOOD LUCK and lets get working those thighs of ours.

Early April is great. My weight loss goal is for the end of March (also my birthday).

Let the quest begin!

P.S. Etah, that's awesome! If I had the money I think I'd get an elliptical and then figure out a way to get online whilst doing that.

 voice activation???
