Probably most of your calorie intake comes from carbs. You should balance it with some healthy fats and oils and you'd see a change in the analysis chart. :) |

You can have those food and more. It's just about moderating your portions. Substitute products aren't always the best way to go about it. But I suspect this is just a parody.. |

Honestly, if you can't cook basic things, you gotta learn. There is no easy/fast ways of losing weight.. at least if you want to keep it off long-term. |

A small bottle of milk, banana/apple, yogurt should make a quick on-the-go breakfast, especially when you're in a rush! If you can wake up 10 mins earlier just to have a bowl of cereal + fruit + milk, it will be good too. Or hard boil some eggs beforehand, so you can pop in 2 eggs and a yogurt and a glass of juice. Easy stuff :) |

| Foods | Food scale and underestimating of food portions | Jul 25 2012 14:12 (UTC) |

Me too! It actually took some time to finally decide on getting a food scale. I was afraid of becoming too obsessed over it but now I realize that I feel much more relaxed about food, knowing exactly how much I eat when I am at home gives me a sense of assurance. Previously, I would've worried about overestimating my food! |

It makes eating out quite tricky. Not all restaurants provide nutritional info and it's kinda making me feel anxious how far off some things can be. I am imagining all the butter that restaurants use to give their food "flavor" :o |

| Foods | Do sugary foods increase your appetite/give you cravings? | Jul 24 2012 16:34 (UTC) |

For me it's a yes too. I don't eat sugary food - my sugar intake seldom goes beyond my daily limit of 40grams. Even some fruits taste too sweet for me. I find that my appetite is much more stable this way and I don't experience the sugar "roller coaster" highs and lows anymore since I cut down on my sugar. |

I read somewhere before (I am too lazy to quote sources) that muscles are built during rest days. When you work out, you are actually tearing those muscle fibers and so when you rest, that's when they repair themselves and get stronger and so rest days are very important if you are weight-training so you won't over-exhaust those muscles - you might end up making them smaller if you don't feed it enough extra calories to grow ("building some muscles"). |

The menu looks delicious. :D Why not eat healthy during the day (a salad) and order what you like for dinner? Stop yourself from having snacks/candy while you are having fun at Six Flags - all that walking and activities should burn some calories. :) Just eat better the next day and work out harder. The sodium would make your weight jump up maybe 1-2 pounds but that is completely normal. Each time I eat a fast food meal, I feel a little bloated the next day. Damn water retention. :( It's your bday! Just enjoy it, girl! |

I think you are doing all the right things! I don't think you are drinking that much of coffee personally because I can definitely out drink you, caffeine-wise! Since you didn't add in sugar in your coffee and milk is not awful for you, I think you are doing well. My Indian friends tend to have an amazingly healthy diet - lots of vegetables, yogurt-based foods and complex carbs. The only worry is the ghee and heavy cream in some of the dishes (which I happen to indulge in from time to time.) You gotta limit your intake of those sugar substitutes as I read from many sources that they will increase your craving for sweet taste in the long run - and makes you want to eat sweet-tasting food more. it's ok to have them of course, but maybe from 6-10 tablets a day, cut it down to 3-5? Good luck! |

| Foods | Help for a picky eater! | Jul 24 2012 16:16 (UTC) |

I don't see you mentioning pasta (wholemeal + high fiber and protein option). Have you tried different types of grains such as quinoa/wild rice? They should go well with vegetables stir-fries. Eggs are awesome so you can have variations of eggs for breakfast (soft boiled eggs, poached eggs, egg mayo sandwich, omelet, frittata.. the list goes on) Continue eating a variety of fruits and vegetables. I love most meats, fruits and veggies, but I don't like seafood, mushrooms, most legumes, and most nuts other than peanuts. I am also not a fan of oatmeal so breakfasts are tough when they're on the go (I generally will have eggs one morning on the weekends). I aim to try some fibre cereal (because I’m low on that too) but the picky eater in me is like “ew”. Start small. You might not be the biggest fan of seafood but I am sure you can try something mild like a tilapia, cod, whitefish, walleye, scallops, shrimp, lobster, crab... take a chance. My bf is the pickiest eater and he is developing a taste for lobster. Of course I don't think most people can eat lobsters every day but be open to the idea of trying new things.. don't always order the same things off the menu or else how would you discover new taste of food that you might like? :) There are lots of cereals that are tasty and high in all those "good stuff" without tasting like sawdust.. at least imo Kashi Go Lean Crunch is a great example... I do enjoy my Post Banana Nut Crunch cereals as well. 7g of fiber and it's high in most vitamins and minerals as well. Obviously most cereals are processed food, but they keep me full for a long time when coupled with a glass of whole milk. Anyways - I hope you like avocados? There's so many ways to enjoy it. A good brand of tortilla chips (or veggie crisps, whatever you like) + guacamole + salsa = a yummy snack that I am sure the pickiest eater would like. Healthy doesn't have to taste bad! Variety of food will do you good - don't limit your (food) horizon! |

| Foods | What to eat while fasting? :/ | Jul 23 2012 13:26 (UTC) |

Calorie-dense food will be good for you. My family are fasting as well (I should, but I am not as religious as they are... but that's another story.) Dates are good for you... like armandounc mentioned, nuts as well. Milk is tasty as well as nutritious, peanut butter with toast, calorie-dense fruits like bananas, dried fruits should keep you in check. And there's nothing wrong with fried food in moderation.. I love fried food. <3 |

I love Chipotle!! I always go for the burrito bowl option, and here are the items in my bowl. - Pinto beans I split the bowl into 2 meals (lunch + snack) - that will keep you full for a very long time. At least for me. All that fiber and protein and complex carbs... yummy. |

Oh my. Bananas are very deceptive. I have yet to eat one lately but I am excited to try. My small apples were grossly overestimated before. I weighed them now and they came up to only 40 calories when I am done with it (can't eat the core now, can I?) I used to log them at 90 calories or so! Hmm. |

I eat cabbage almost every day now.. it's quite a typical asian dish as well. It is very tasty when stir-fried with carrots, shrimp and eggs. It's cheap, nutritious and very filling. What more can a college student ask for? :P Don't think cabbage is a bad food at all.. how can it be? It's only bad if a person only eats that and nothing else. |
