Hello everyone,

After much thought, I am leaving this group. Thank you to all who are so dedicated at the organization and support of this group. I need to make some space in my life for some other initiatives and in turn there will be space in this group for one more.

Thank you all for your support and all my best to each and everyone of you - you are all such wonderful souls!

Thanks for the new topic - the key thing that led me to make more changes was the development of osteoarthritis. This may sound funny but that keeps me exercising 6 out of 7 days/week. If not I feel the pain. This was the best thing that happened to me.

great topic. Especially these days I have more experience off than on. Usually my motivation comes from how I feel. Eating w/no control will cause me to feel sick. I want to be healthy. Also, support from this group and other on CC have helped me significantly.

Did well on my goals of 2days logging last week.

hey everyone

Debbie - my heart goes out to you - I also have some dysfunction in my family and always feel stressed out b4 & after the visit and eat way too much. I like kyashiis' advice - it is certainly the harder path to take. I honestly visualize a protective sheild around me so the BS can't get in.

pumpkin - here are some suggestions - I don't have time right now to include the recipes but you can either google or ask me: muffins, soup - also curried pumpkins or any type of squash is delicious. My friend just made a pumpkin cheese ball for a Halloween party - not the most calorie wise but interesting.

wow kyashiis - $2.00/apple - I think I'd just sit and eat one very slowly. Do you already have a good muffin recipe? I like putting apples in salads, cereal. I also like to cut up an apple and put it in a bowl with some mixed nuts and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Dawnstin - for you I suggest roasted pepper dip - almost 0 calories and really healthy. You burn the peppers on your stove or over an open flame until the skin is black. Then put all the peppers in a plastic bag until the skin starts to peel off. Take them out scrub off all the skin - cut out the innards and place all the peppers in your food processor. Add some fresh garlic, a little cumin and oil if you want. Then dip pita bread and enjoy.

My ingredient is carrots - aside from muffins, bread and raw - love to have some inspiration because I still have a garden full!

As for my goals - doing very well logging just 2 days a week.

Great topic - thank you

I think most things in my life would be the same but I would feel different. It would be nice to shop and have most things fit. Most important, I think I would feel much better and that is the most important! I would also feel a better role model for my daugthers.

hey nekko_cat - I was so glad to read your post as I had the very same idea for a goal but felt it was wimpy. I'm having such a hard time - logging 2 days a week for 12 weeks will be a huge win for me. Thank you for the inspiration.

My goal - 2 days per week for 12 weeks - I will log in!

Greetings everyone:

This is a good topic - o.k. list of topics:

  • what has helped you get back on track
  • how do you stay motivated
  • how to you drink 8 x 8oz per day
  • best exercises for weight loss

I have enjoyed every weekly topic so using any of the old ones work for me. Thank you.

Hi thanks for the new thread.

One thing that speaks "fall" to our family is going out and picking apples and making and freezing apple sauce for the winter. It's so simple - I only add cinnamon and nothing else. When my kids were small, I'd freeze them in ice cube trays, then as they got older I'd freeze them in muffin tins - now I just freeze them in small freezer bags. They lay flat in the freezer and taste so fresh whenever you eat them. Good fiber, low calories and deliciosa!

The one thing...

I need to sleep - I have been suffering w/serious insomnia for the last few months - some is due to perimenopause and some is due to stress regarding work. When I don't sleep I don't exercise and I eat more carbs. I am going to do everything I can to restore healthy sleeping.

Thanks for this topic it is a good one.

I hope everyone does well this week!

Thanks Sarah Ann for the new thread and your kind words regarding Sept. 11. I can only imagine what this day means to those most closely affected.

In this round, what I have learned is that I don't need much motivation for exercise - that is never a problem. I need to focus on my logging - I find it feels like such a chore but that "chore" is what has helped me lose weight so that may be my only goal for the next round.

Have a nice week everyone!

Thanks for the new topic, it's a good one.

I've done better with this goal this time around than others. What motivates me for exercise is my arthritic back. The pain literally kicks me in the butt and I have to exercise. As for my weight - I haven't been able to keep that on track for a long time. I am perpetually going up & down. Somehow, I continue to hang on to this site by a thread - the reminder emails really help - thank you.

I have enjoyed reading all of your posts - you are all doing so well:)

this week was good for logging but not so much for exercise. We're getting the tail end of the storm today in Eastern Ontario - expecting much more rain - hope we don't flood.

Hope all our New York friends are safe!

Hello everyone - I'm officially off hiatus now and back to work tomorrow.

Claire - what an interesting, thought provoking topic. I think you are quite right - I do imagine how something is going to taste but thinking about how it will feel after is really important.

I do, in fact, have a mantra that has guided me for most of my adult life: "whatever comes my way I can handle it" This way, I don't fool myself into believing that difficult things won't happen to me but I tell myself that I will be able to deal with them. I use this one a lot.

Take care everyone and have a good week.

Hello everyone,

Wow all the talk and work on goals is so motivating:

Maintenance - continue to exercise 5 out of 7 days

Log - in 5 out of 7

I really support what Sarah says about setting realistic goals - I didn't this time around and did feel very bad about myself and almost left. It was thanks to the encouragement of this group and one other special cc'r that got me back on track. So this time, I'm leaving some room for challenges.

Thank you everyone and good luck:)

hey everyone,

Goals: on track this week for the first time - yee ha!

Topic: Stress

How do I deal with it? Not always well. I find if I am very stressed - I don't care about anything, hence, I eat anything as well. The best prevention for me is to try as best I can to prevent or reduce the stress at the front end.  My best friend for stress is exercise - everything always feels better after!

Exercise:

I try to exercise 60 minutes everyday. I don't really care what I do as long as I'm moving. I have a gym membership and what helped me stay motivated was I made 16 laminated small cards and each has a workout that focuses on different muscle groups and types of exercise. Then I don't have to think what I'm going to do plus I have variety.

I love biking, gardening, dancing, Zumba, walking and just about anything that doesn't hurt me. Recently, I started workouts with my teenage daughter who likes the programs on my husband's IPHONE.
