I don't think you'll get a lot of responses for boiled chicken, not many North Americans eat it that way. Grilled, broiled, sauteed, roasted, braised, yes....boiled? Not so much. It addition to making the meat tough, it also leeches out a lot of nutrients. The only time I boil chicken is when I am making soup, and even then, boiling is undesirable, I try to stick to a simmer. Are you sure you mean boil?? |

Sounds like you didn't cook it enough. Cooked quinoa is fluffy, light, and tender, similar texture to cooked couscous. Try again! |

It does increase by about x4. One cup of cooked bulgur (about 182g) is 150 calories, which works out to about the same as your calcs for 400g = 332. Sounds right to me! |

Funny how moms can just KILL your self esteem with one comment. My mom's favourite line when we used to shop together was "that's just not very flattering", which was code for "that does nothing to hide your disgusting fat". She meant well, and had no idea what damage she was doing. Thank goodness we hardly ever shop together anymore. My boyfriend, on the other hand, is very supportive of the hips/booty/shape-revealing outfits. So I choose to listen to him instead lol |

jp, I hear you with the phyllo fulfilling it's delicious baklava destiny. My bf and I recently invented a heavenly twist on the traditional baklava - maple walnut baklava! I replaced some of the the simple syrup/honey with maple syrup, and used walnuts instead of pistachios. O.M.G. So good. Also, I managed to use just 2 Tbsp of butter in a whole batch by alternating layers with olive oil spray and using a very light touch with the pastry brush....there's no getting around the sugar though, so not exactly diet food, but everyone needs a little baklava in their life. The oilve oil sprayer is also handy for other kinds of phyllo stuff as well...one favourite of mine is cutting the sheets into little squares and lining a mini-muffin tin with a few sheets in each hole, fill with quiche mixture (I use eggs, egg whites, cottage cheese, milk, garbonzo bean flour, spinach, ham, sauteed onions, and gruyere cheese) and bake until golden, yum! |

pg I disagree, I think it's highly likely that we have all met psychopaths, Bob Hare estimates that about 1% of the population are psychopaths, and that number is much higher in certain professions (like Criminal, lol). |

If you like a creamy dressing, here's what I make: Green Onion-Herb Dip 1/2 cup plain low-fat yogurt (Astro Biobest rocks) 1 Tbsp reduced-fat mayo (optional, but makes a richer-tasting result) 1 green onion, chopped 1 Tbsp fresh mixed herbs or 1/2 Tbsp dried -whatever you have - thyme, oregano, marjoram, dill, chives 1/2 tsp each onion and garlic powders Just mix it all up with a whisk. Thin with a little milk for a salad dressing, or use as a dip for veggies, on a baked potato, in a pita, dip for oven fries, it's delicious on anything. If you prefer a vinaigrette, an olive oil-balsamic vinegar - Dijon mustard combo is awesome. A touch of mustard helps it emulsify, and balsamic vinegar is not as sharp as other vinegars so I find using half and half oil to vinegar is perfect. |
