I was always skinny, through childhood, adolescense and early adulthood. I started gaining weight when I met my husband 7 years ago. No big deal. I lost 20 lbs. cutting out soda and fast food and doing Tae Bo before we got married 6 years ago. After that, I quit doing the Tae Bo and started to gain some of it back. I gained about 20lbs. being off of work for 9 months, and when I finally found a job, I joined the gym, but then found out I was pregnant. While I was pregnant, I ate anything and everything (chocolate donuts were my weakness). Everyone told me to eat, eat, eat because I was eating for 2. I gained nearly 50lbs. with that pregnancy, and I assumed it would melt off after the baby was born. BOY WAS I WRONG!! So here I was, 70lbs. heavier than I was on my wedding day. I quit working to be a stay at home mom, and so I wasn't near as active as I was when I was working, so it never came off. When my first daughter turned 1, I decided that I needed to do something about it. I was around 220. I started shrinking my portions, and getting on my treadmill that I bought. I lost about 25lbs. and then I got pregnant with our second child. I didn't gain quite as much weight that time around, but after she was born, I still didn't get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 195. I was at 212, and hated the way I looked. I used to be 117lbs when I was in High School!!! SO, that is when I started doing some research and came across this site. I never knew that all I had to do was count my calories! I started counting calories July 1, 2006, and have been doing it since. Since then I have lost 67lbs. and it is just a way of life for me now. I have hit a few plateaus, but thanks to all of you I have found ways past that! My goal weight is 135 and I can't wait to get there. Not just for myself, but to prove to everyone around me, that I CAN do it! I hope that I can be an inspiration to others. :-) ![]() |
