I am not a doctor, this was just my personal experience. Most places have a radiologist who reads the ultrasound, and that person isn't the same person as the one who performs the ultrasound. My doctor called and put a rush on my ultraound because I had some serious pains going on. I knew by that night around 9. Maybe if your doctor does it in office, you'll know sooner. If you go to a place that just does radiology, you'll probably know before you leave. But if you are stuck going to the radiology department of a hospital, it would probably be nice if your doctor called to ask for rushed orders. I was diagnosed in May, got in with a specialist in July, did all kinds of tests and a study in October and November, and am now regulating things with Metformin. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to send me a message. |

I didn't read all the posts, but I will say this: I'm getting married (YAY!) because I want a lifelong committment with my best friend. We support each other, and our lives have intertwined in such a way that seperating us would deeply injure us. I want to have a family with him, I want to care for him when he's sick, and have him comfort me when I need comforted. I want to have children, really bad. I have baby fever. There is something about a tiny widdle baby that just makes me meltywelty into a blubbering messywessy. Today I saw a puppy (not even a baby, just a puppy) and my heart soared, and I said, "Oh what a sweetiepie" before I could even contain myself. And, because I want to have children, I want to bring them into a family where there is a lifelong committment of two people who are dedicated to each other, to a family unit, and to rearing a child. More than anything, in the last year or so, I've come to realize how important family is to me. I used to be wildly independent. And insanely ambitious. And now, what I want, more than anything, is family. I finally figured out that family makes me happy in a way that can't even be compared to the other happinesses I find in financial gain and career success. |

Original Post by cdn_grl: I'm glad to hear that. I'm only on Met. I'm super duper lucky, and I don't have a lot of the symptoms: hair loss, acne, hair growth. But I know women who do, and it breaks my heart. I use Dessert Essentials face wash, and it has Tea Tree Oil in it, which is a natural anti-bacterial. It has worked amazingly for my skin. I'm broken out right now but I'm sure that's because the Met has my hormones all outta whack. My skin is usually pretty clear. |

Original Post by bebegirlt3: I eat small meals, follow a whole food diet, and always take it after eating. It just causes GI problems. Gross! I'm finally adjusted and now I have to up my dosage to 2000 tomorrow. I don't know how I'll manage it! |

I would love to have a PCOS buddy group here. I have had PCOS since I was 13, but was just diagnosed this spring at 25. I took part in a clinical study at the University of Chicago (it got me lots of free testing, and I got paid for it) last month, and am on Metformin XR 1500mg this week (next week, 2000mg). I've been sick as a dog, but my endocrinologist keeps saying that if I stick through the crappy adjustment period, it will be so worth it. I think I've lost weight. My too tight pants aren't too tight anymore. This will be a nice change of pace. I had been eating very limited amounts of food and being active, and kept gaining weight. Hopefully the Met will let me shed some poundage. |

Hello there. I stopped reading after the first few posts. I'm on a "carb blocker" kind of. I'm on Metformin. I have PCOS. I have Insulin Resistance. I have been eating healthy and watching every morsel I eat while exercising regularly with no results. My body is messed up. My doctor prescribed it. It's a prescription drug. For a real medical problem. People commonly use it for diabetes. It isn't FDA approved for my use, but is commonly prescribed for my condition because it lowers the effects of insulin resistance. If I didn't have to take it, I'd be thrilled. But to help fix my problems (obesity, inability to lose weight, annovulation, large painful ovarian cysts), I have to. It makes me crap. It makes me sick. I don't feel hungry. But if I don't eat, I feel shaky and sad. So I eat. And it get sick again. It's the first few weeks, it should get better after a few months, once my body adjusts. But for now, it sucks. ----------- I'm of the school of thought that we should eat healthfully and not take supplements. Why replace natural, good foods with a pill? Why not just eat right? If you have a normal body, I'd say, suck it up and lose weight the natural (and only) healthy way. If your body is messed up, see a doctor. |

Corn subsidies and why they are making Americans fat. Why processed food costs more than the whole foods it takes to make them.

Look, I've made protein pancakes and they weren't anything like yours. First of all, where's the cottage cheese or ricotta? Second of all, some carbs are okay - try blending in some oats. Third of all, remember to drink a ton of water to help your body digest the protein. Also, I've made protein crepes before so I had something to replace a wrap and they were pretty good - it was similar to what you have here, only with a little dairy to thin it out.
