The Lounge relationship issues Oct 23 2009

I haven't read that book, but I have heard a bit about it.  I think it is really important to understand how your SO shows love, but maybe its not about learning how to show love the way the other displays it, but learning how to interpret how the other displays it.  You know what I mean?  You seem to want him to talk to you more, and he wants you to do things for him more.  Maybe you guys shouldn't try to change the way you display your love for each other, but learn how to interpret what you already do more accurately.

Really take some time to think about what acts he does that you think he might do for you to show love, and have him think about what you say to show your love.  Then, talk to each other about what you think you do to show him love and have him explain what he does to show his love(yes, this involves talking...he will just have to get over it).  This might shed some light on how you guys view things differently and your expectations.

Alternatively, if you really think he needs acts of love, perhaps you can do things outside of "cooking and cleaning".  There are plenty of other acts you can do long distance.  Such as, sending him flowers or candies(typically what a man does for a woman, but it works the other way too), ordering him something online and having it shipped to him with a sweet message(it could be something inexpensive), calling/texting/emailing just to say I love you, etc.  If he doesn't see love from those sort of acts, then he doesn't really speak the language of acts and is just lazy and wants you to do chores for him.

Even if he doesn't want to talk, communication is key to all relationships.  He needs to explain things to you and listen while you explain things to him.

Thanks for all the replies!

Just to clarify, my 4 consecutive interviews were all with the same company, just different people within it.  I am looking for jobs as a geophyscists with an oil or service company, so interviews are actually pretty easy to come by.  I did 1st interviews with about 14 different companies(OMG...I am soooo sick of answering situational questions!!) and am on to round two.  I had my first onsite interview yesterday and I have 2 more with other companies so far.  I would LOVE it if I got offers from at least 2 companies so I have options, but who knows.

Yesterday actually wasn't that bad.  I was just tired and stressed out, so I got whiny.  All the people I talked with were super nice and they made me really comfortable.  It was actually kinda enjoyable because we only talked about technical stuff.  I much prefer that sort of interview.  And getting to practice my defense talk was really nice.  They gave me some good advise on how to improve some things and geniuinly seemed interested.

Yesterday was only about 3 hours, but I have an onsite interview with one of the major companies and its going to be aaaaall day long.  And even though I live in the same city, they want to take me to dinner and put me up in a hotel the night before.  I didn't want to complain to them, but I would really rather stay at home with my husband!  Oh well.

I will be sure to update if/when I hear back!

Oh, and watergirl, are you looking to acquire data or just buy some that already exists?  What kind do you want or what is it(2D/3D, multicomponent)?  I love seismic data :)

Grow up and check the facts and make up your mind. This is a very small decision, don't fret.

yeeeeah, because vehicles aren't a crap load of money.  :/  besides, no one should ever fret over spending a lot of money.

hotfuss, I don't know what you are referring to. How can you have children without having sex? We all know you can't have sex til you are married.

Oh.  But, my mommy told me all we have to do is fall in love and call the stork?  I'm confused....

From the article:

"The Supreme Court ruled as far back as 1963 that the government cannot tell people who they can and cannot marry."

... seems like the gov't has been denying some people marriage a lot lately.

"I don't do interracial marriages because I don't want to put children in a situation they didn't bring on themselves," Bardwell said. "In my heart, I feel the children will later suffer."

.... So I assume that he refused to grant marriages to racist bigots, since their children would undoubtedly be brought up to be similarly despicable.

aaaaand we all know, that no children are born out of wedlock :/

Original Post by jaefuma: AND TRACEY IS SUCH A WITCH!

Lol!!!!  I totally agree.  I was so shocked when they didn't vote her off.  I loved watching the look on her face when the black team won.  Liz should have stuck to what she was saying and make sure Tracey went home.  I am beginning to think it is rigged.  There is no way she could have control of the whole game for the past few episodes.  She can't even workout!  I just really really don't like her...

I love how they all got really creeped out when she won that last temptation.  That was sooo funny!  She totally bewitched the spinning wheel.  Then, she cursed coach so that he was in a lot of pain and put a spell on him so that he would tell everyone he wanted to leave!  She is literally a witch.

Or, it's rigged to increase drama.

Or, she is as lucky as this guy.

I think all theories are equally plausible.

(It's rigged)

so many people are naive enough to think everyone will agree with them and how they get offended or pissed off when someone completely disagrees,

and

so many people post something looking for compliments or some sort of justification for poor judgment or behavior and then get pissed when people see right through it,

and

so many people don't get each others humor and take things too seriously,

because it causes entertaining drama.  :)

uhmmm okay. ima just say it already.

she may feel the same way about you kate. omg! i knew this girl in high school and her parents had soooooo much money and she works at McDONALDS!

seriously, she may be shocked and think you are the loser.

*shrugs*

because of this, you will never be in a position that you have to consider being a porn star to make ends meet. be thankful for that kate, not...judgemental. you have no clue.

I do work at McDonald's, but I am half way done with my 2-year program in school, and when I am finished with it, I will be making a very nice salary.

The difference is that she isn't even thinking about a future.  She is living in this little 5-10 year range that she will be able to do porn.  Sure, there is an older woman porn world, but it is a lot smaller than the barely legal stuff.

And I'm not so much judgemental as I am just worried for her.  I don't think she's a bad person.  In fact, if she wanted help to get back on her feet, I'd be the first to jump on it.

And the fact I CHOOSE to work at McDonald's when I could just say "Daddy, can I have a couple thousand dollars?" is commendable in my opinion.  I believe that I'm taking the high road working from the bottom up.  I do 3-4 hours of school work after I get out of class, work anywhere between 5-8 hours a few times a week, exercise, run errands, keep my place clean, babysit on the side, and I even have time to be a mentor to a recovering alcoholic who was the same age I was when I stopped drinking.

I think I balance my life pretty darn well, watergirl.  So don't question my intentions.  It's frustrating to see someone I cared about and was very close with not thinking about her future.  Your future starts when you're young.

Yeah, maybe you should work on not being so judgemental.  If you only know her through facebook you really don't know her life plans, goals, or what else she may be doing.  She could very well be thinking about her future and working just as hard as you are for what she wants.
