I think losing weight is like quitting smoking. Intuitively you know you`re better off but you have to be in the correct state of mind in order to make the transition. Maybe right now you have associated getting healthy with a stressful task you mustn`t fail at. But it`s actually a favour you`re doing yourself. Take some time to rethink things. |

This doesn`t involve an ice cream maker, but it`s good nonetheless. Buy overripe bananas, puree in blender, freeze. Before eating you can stick it in the blender again to soften it a little. Very tasty and very good for you. For flavour feel free to add unsweetened cocoa, it complements the banana taste perfectly. |

Haha, I like the explanation that regular exercise toughens you up. :) fade_the_great - I find it odd that you are having more trouble in the bedroom, for me it`s the opposite since I now have better stamina. I just thought of something else: I know they say that bigger people tend to sweat more, but I swear I am sweating like a pig now that I`m fitter. Should I chalk it up to drinking more water every day? |

Fruit from wine? Now that`s a good one! And beer for grains, I s`pose? :) I`m a vegetarian so I don`t eat meat (including fish and seafood, since a lot of people seem to think they`re not meat). I normally avoid junk food: trans fats and white carbs (refined flour and sugar), and keep the alcohol to a minimal minimum. I don`t feel guilty or beat myself up over satisfying a craving. The only rule I am very strict about is to never ever eat empty calories out of hunger. |

I have to agree with beanyameen: splurge, but do it wisely. Don`t count calories but mind the nutrition. For example fries are okay, since both potatoes and oil are good for you; pancakes, not so much, because of the white flour and refined sugar. It`s my way of going all out and it`s a lovely compromise. I get the satisfaction of spoiling myself minus guilt, because how can you feel bad about feeding your body with what it needs? ;) |

Almost all canned or frozen bags of veggies. Jars of pickles. Almost all fruit. (it`s gotten to the point where I have to freeze it in portions to at least slow me down) 1 pound bags of peanuts. Peanut butter jars - they`re either gone in a day or sit by for weeks unnoticed. Whole grain bread, most of the time. And even when I am cooking, I have to invite people over for dinner or bring most of the muffins to work, or I will also finish everything.
And now I am starting to wonder what foods I won`t eat all of once they`re open, haha. God bless parents and the 'no wasting food' education they give. |

What I think is that your boy is trying to get you to loosen up about this whole losing weight thing. If it is so consuming that you are getting all these negative thoughts and feelings, I have to agree with him. And you know, stress might be what is halting your progress and making your body refuse to go further. I say take at least two weeks, preferably up to a month, of maintenance. Might sound like too much, but a few weeks is nothing in the long run, really. And the delay in getting to your goal weight is well worth it if your mood changes for the better. |

Sure, you can drink just 2 cups a water of day, but do you do it? Sure, you can have a wardrobe of 2 shirts and one pair of pants, but do you do it? Sure, you can pass all your subjects in school with a C-, but do you do it? Sure, you can eat 1000 calories a day, but.. why?

Maybe part of the problem is the fact that you feel that by praising you only when you do good she is pointing out that you used to do worse before? In which case you need to train yourself to focus on the positive aspects. Just throwing it out there because this has been a problem for me (not with weight loss in particular, with most issues) and I recognize some of the symptoms. |

If they are super ripe, make muffins! My recipe mixes one large super ripe banana with one egg, a heaping tablespoon of honey, a teaspoon of baking power, optionally a little vanilla extract/a tablespoon of cocoa, add flour (I use all whole wheat) until the texture is right and bake at medium heat. Makes about 6 smallish, healthy servings deliciousness. Feel free to scale it around and play with it. |

Pretty sound advice you`ve gotten so far, nothing much to add in that respect. I just wanted to ask how you`re holding up. :) |

If you can get your hands on them, salted, roasted, shelled sunflower or pumpkin seeds are awesome. Cracking the shell open takes time and is fun. They are very similar to nuts, only smaller, thus better to eat on a low calorie budget. |

After one quick look at the ingredients, I wouldn`t touch one with a ten foot pole. As a dessert once a month to calm some insane cravings, maybe. As a regular substitute for (or part of) a meal, well.. I`d rather take some honey drizzled peanut butter and cocoa oatmeal any day. |

Best advice ever. Try and see what works for you. Note that meat cravings are totally normal in the first few months if you are used to eating it, so don`t pay any attention to that. Focus on your energy level instead. If it is higher, you do better on a vegetarian diet. If not, switch back. I am a firm believer in the theory that everybody is different and you have to find what works for you. |

I would snack on some pickles (or a salad if sodium scares you). Or how about making a big pot of veggie soup in the weekend and eating a cup every day before dinner? In my experience apples are not that filling and sweetness might be a trigger to overeat. Plus you can never eat too many veggies. :) |

The closer a food is to its natural state, the more our bodies are used to digest it properly, ergo the healthier it is. |
