Many studys have showen it is safe for an overweight women to be on a calorie restricted diet during pregnancy. I would suggest if your not keeping the baby it doen't matter either way. You don't burn many extra calories in the first trimester anyway. Sarah

but if you're keeping the baby, you're probably on prenatal vitamins.  it's not about calories; it's about nutrients that are vital to the fetus, which will be diverted from the woman.  it's not that uncommon for emaciated, malnourished women to give birth to a perfectly healthy baby because of this.  calcium, in particular, is a problem; pregnancy contributes to osteoporosis for this reason.

 Thats correct

If you guys are game, I propose we keep this forum going beyond April 25th!

I honestly look forward to my weekly weigh-in with all of you lovely ladies :) It keeps me motivated to hear about your successes and struggles. And I get genuinely excited to hear about your losses!

It's difficult to discuss weight loss with my friends and family... although they are aware and mostly supportive of my efforts, the calorie counting and weekly weigh-ins is something they find obsessive and over the top. This seems to be the only place I can vent about my week of emotional eating, or my excitement over a string of successful calorie deficit days! You all understand because you're going through it too.

So, before I get all group huggy... you guys interested?

Hey I am willing to keep it going as a 1 year challenge, starting April 25Th and ending the following April 25Th for all interested party's, who want to reach a goal or just stay on track with maintenance.

First off congrats, you are an amazing success! You are so close to y goal and I am guessing you are looking fantastic, Woot Woot Florrida here you come!

My success so far: I started with calorie count October 8Th of 2009, it has been 6 months. My starting weight, or at least the last time I had gotten on a scale, was 289 lbs. I started my lifestyle change with diet alone, restricting calories, eating more nutrient rich foods, being sure to eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and veggies, drinking lots of water, and cutting back on refined sugars and fats. Month 5 after a loss of 75 lbs. I added in exercise, 35-50 minuets of cardio, and 35-60 min. of strength training. My weight loss has slowed since I started working out but I believe that is because I am not burning mussle, honestly I'd rather loose 1 lbs fo fat than 5 lbs 3 of which is mussle. At last weigh in I was down 81 lbs. and 9 lbs. from reaching my first major goal of breaking 200 by June 27Th 2010. I find it helps to keep alot of small goals to reach, it is encouraging. I stay off the scale as much as I can, the daily fluctuations drive me crazy. And I don't sweat the small stuff anymore, I don't beat my self up for wanting a cookie or having a drink. I am setting my self up for a liveable life, long term success, and  happiness with myself and my body. I am now focusing more on fitness goals than weight loss goals, but I am still working on weight loss. I can't wait to see 199 on the scale I will feel like a real success, I do feel like a success! Sarah

Well, I am down 2.4 lbs this week but after being up .2 last week (ttotm) it's an average of 1.1 lbs. a week, I am a little disapointed but I am going to buckle down, cut back on the processed foods, cut the work outs and the cals a bit. This weeks weight loss goal is 2 lbs.

To date I've lost 81 lbs. I am 9 lbs. from my first major goal of 199 by June 27th. Sarah

I am adding a big THANK YOU to all of you for your support.

*THANK YOU* *THANK YOU* *THANK YOU* Sarah

chocolate

healthy BMI for sure, its about health not just looks!

Lost 5 pounds or lose 2 inches?
2 inches because i think I would have to loose more than 5 lbs.

Shop with someone smaller, same size, or bigger than you?
I prefer to shop alone, I hate feeling rushed.

Be "skinny" or be "toned"?
be toned, I don't know if I'll ever get there but I'd rather be toned for sure!

lose 3 pounds in a week hungry

Which of those are you currently working on:
getting more fit, these all kind of fit in the same category

Do you really think you'll get to your goal weight:
yes. I can't unlearn all that I have learned. I think I will make it there in the next couple years, I am worried far more about maintaining than reaching the goal.

First of all – I'm not a CC newbie, I don't run large deficits, and I don't restrict/binge.

Stats:
5'1", 175 lbs, female, age 33
Desk job, less than 30 min exercise a day

Averages for the past 14 days:
Calorie Intake:  1555
Calorie Output:  1792 (I choose Sedentary & log exercise.)
Average Deficit:  236

Average nutrition for the past 14 days:
Carb:  201
Prot:  77
Fat:  55
SFat:  14.1
Chol:  193
Sod:  2356
Fib:  31
Sug:  76
VitA:  11434
VitC:  84
Calc:  981
Iron:  15.8
K:  1930

My question:  I feel like I'm hungry/fatigued all the time here recently!  Where am I going wrong?  I've tried eating small meals 5 times a day and eating larger breakfasts, to no avail.  According to the site, my deficit is reasonable, and I'm getting all the nutrition I need.  I rarely eat refined carbs (4-5 servings per week).  I have been eating very little meat because of the expense.  Otherwise, I'm stumped.  My weight loss has also slowed.  I've been at this for about 5 weeks now, if that info helps.

Note:  When I say 'fatigued', what I mean is 'can barely make it to the stove when I get home from work.'

hematocrit or red blood cells and Iron, it took four supplements a day for over 3 months to get me back to the low end of normal and I am still on 2 a day to keep it level, I had a high iron diet and still had lots of problems. Sarah

Weight Loss Is it possible to only eat fruit? Apr 07 2010

My diet consists pretty much of nothing but fruit. I don't sit around eating it all day. I may have a cup of grapes a day and an apple. half a bananna. I mean I have cereal and oatmeal and things like that too, but not every day. Some days at the end of the day, I find that I have eaten nothing but fruit the entire day. Is there such thing as eating too much fruit? Also, I would not gain weight because of this would I ?  ( I run aprx. 4 days a week for one hr)

This will sound like a terible farce but it's true. My aunt had her intestines come out of her bum and the Dr. said it was from eating to much fruit. Her diet consisted of almost entirely fruit. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing, make sure you get a ballanced diet. Sarah

I agree with JP, see a dr. I was fatigued all the time and it was from low blood counts. Since I started taking supplements I feel a ton better. Sarah

Well, I am a little bummed with all the work out this week. I gained .2 lbs. It's frustrating considering all my workouts and keep my intake under 2000 so, I guess I overestimated my burn this week. Also it's ttotm so maybe I'll see a better loss next week. Sarah :.(

Hello, I have a quick question: when I analyze my nutrients, I am finding that at times my carbs are too high and my protein is to low. Any ideas on what foods are good to eat that are high in protein and low in carbs? I do eat egg whites everyday for breakfast. Also, what do you think of Tuna fish and peanut butter? Are they good or bad?

And: GREAT JOB! Everyone...

I'm getting concerned though, I actually weigh myself Monday mornings, and the last 2 days it looks like I am gaining again.. I guess I need to really look at what I am eating..

My weight does normally drop during the weekend, but I am crossing my fingers this time :)

Good luck everyone!!

slardo,  I am having the same issue.

I have a protein shake everyday for breakfast.  I use 100% whey protein, add one cup skim milk, 4 ice cubes, and a little bit of fruit.  The fruit adds in some carbs, so you can eliminate it if you want, but it makes it taste so much better.  :)

For dinner, I try to have 1 or 2 servings of lean protein (grilled, baked, or broiled chicken or fish, sometimes a turkey burger) and a BIG pile of steamed or baked vegetables (broccoli, green beans, asparagus, zucchini).

I'm having trouble with lunches because I spent most of my life having big sandwiches for lunch, so I'm in need of good lunch suggestions too.

I hope that helps a little!  Let us know how you solve the protein/carb dilemma!

Have you tried the Sara Lee low cal bread? I kike the whole wheat and honey 45 cals. a slice, yummy!

I'm at a loss on this one. But as far as tuna, it is yummy I love it PBBo but I don't eat BP to often since the kind I like is loaded with sugar. I eat chunk white tuna salad with low fat mayo once or twice a week. Sarah

You don't have much more to go, weight loss gets tougher the closer you get to your goal. I am guessing your body is holding on to thoes last few lbs. because you work it so hard it's afraid to let go. This is why you start dropping weight when you stop working out. On the other hand it could have been muscel loss, I am really not sure, I think I have confused myself. Sarah
