I have been trying so hard to squeese in that last 4 or 5 hundrend calories at the end of the day and I just take deep breaths, lots of tums, sometimes a little at a time helps, and stand up, if you sit down or lay down your stomach can't fit as much.

you can obviously shred and make slaw, I love asain slaw, you can make braised cabbage and apples...   2 tablespoons canola oil
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, and cubed
1 pint unfiltered apple juice
1/4-teaspoon caraway seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 head of red cabbage, shredded

Heat the canola oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the apple to the pan and cook until lightly browned. Increase the heat to high and add the apple juice, caraway seeds, salt, pepper and cabbage to the pan. Cover the pan and shake to toss the cabbage to coat.

Reduce the heat to low and cook for 20 minutes.

I like it in sautees sometimes, and obviously cabbage soup...

Thats really interesting, and those articles are really inspireing. I wish every mother could understand that dissorders are not a cry for attention, they're not the fault of the person "infected", they're just something that takes over.

I wonder if the higher long term caloric requirements applies to me? I never had anorexia, but with my extreme IBS and acid reflux desise I dropped to a really low BMI and body fat. I seem to be regaining fairly easily, I don't have a hypermetabolism or anything like that, hmm...

Yes... unfortunatly i've had REALLY bad experiences with docors. My friend with celiacs desise was telling me about her disese when my stomach issues were at their worst, so I reserched it and I had EVERY symptom. reluctantly, I cut out wheat and milk (bread, ohh bread!) and actually started feeling better. When we went to a GI he said I had an ED because I was cutting out food groups, and sent me for a biopsy. >:-( that was fine... and now I think the insoluble fiber from wheat products is what was makeing me react so bad. I just wish ONE doctor would see past their eating dissorder "red flags" and treat me as an individual!!

don't worry about it... Thank you so muchh!! I think I'll start to try pairing my foods. Its so hard for me to get up to my "quota" w.o boosts and ensures! haha, I'll have to try, but I was hopeing to slowly cut those out as I don't need as many calories.  Maybe I'll have to alter my eating plan again.

Heres my big problem: Every doctor thought I had an eating dissorder because of my weight loss... no one believed Ihad stomach problems. I convinsed one of the doctors that I did not have an ED by gaining weight, and being egar to gain weight, but now I'm scared to death to tell the nutritionist fats are bothering me because shes going to jump to conclusions and think I am trying to lose weight or something

I cant eat before a workout, before laying down or before bed. Takeing a stroll after eating helps me, and not being stressed out really helps my heartburn!

Hey I wanted to share some yummy meal ideas with everyone that have really helped me. Im lactose intolerant, so its hard but ive come up with some easy ways to pack in cals!

A "parfait" for breakfast feels light and dainty, but I pack in 800+ cals! Start with a mashed bannana and mix it with plain soy yogurt, add toasted sliced almonds, seseme seeds, walnuts (whatever your favorite is, I also like pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds) sliced fresh fruit, a cup of cereal (high cal like bannana nut crunch, or even higher granola, I personally like kasi go lean crunch for the protein though) I toss in some toasted oats, flax seeds and wheat germ too... then dried fruits, date go nicely with summer blwnds, cranberries with autumn, currants for anytime, the if you want to treat yourself some geradellihi chocolate chips (no milk)... the longer your in the kitchen the higher in cals it becomes!!!

Cous cous has been annother easy meal for me. toast almonds, walnuts, seseme seeds, what not, boil 2/3 cup chicken stock with spices and chopped herbs, I add sauteed veggies and stir fries stuff, then add 1/3 cup cous cous and let sit 5 minutes, I sometimeas add some soymilk after its done, and some smart balance really can up the cals!

Oatmeal is annother on of those put-in-everything-but the-sink meals!

I really like sandwiches with health nut bread (240 for 2 slices) 3 oz deli meat, dressing, soy cheese, avocado, tomatoe, etc :-)

Cereal blends are fun and easy, sometimes I use granola as cereal, adding a whole bannana, some wheat germ, some nuts really makes something not that filling 600-700 calories!

Umm "icecream" sundaes are good too, I have a healthy soy icecream thats kind've low in calories but with strawberries, crushed pinapple, dark chocolate, cinimon, honey, nuts, and granola on it it becomeas a decadent desert that isn't going to clog your arteries

Protein shakes can add up, I use soy milk, soy protein powder then any and every fruit. I also add a super secret ingredient: bum bum bumm... COCONUT MILK!! it has over 100 cals just for 1/4 of a cup! peanut butter and chocolate is a great smoothie combo, as is bannana chocolate, bannana peanut butter, chocolate peanut butter bannana, (I use cocoa powder). If your stomach isn't like mine, instant coffe powder, coconut milk, protein powder, cocoa powder, soy milk, honey, and ice makes a delicious iced mochaproteinchino.

Big bagels from bagel shops are delicois and come in whole wheat vasries, slathered in nut butter and topped with toasted coconut and bannana slices it can be a delicious lunch or breakfast for over 700 calories!

clif bars odwalla bars, odwealla shakes, luna bars, ensure with protein, boost with protein and simple protein powder soymilk shakes are all thing I use to add calories

If you are uneasy about adding fat to your diet and you need to, I find its alot eaiser intead of makeing everything a greasy gross mess, just add seseme seeds. it goes with sweet, it goes with savory, it goes with everything, it addsfat protein fiber vitamins minerals and cals really easy

Cereal is really my saveing grace though\, because its not filling, its calorie dense, i can never get enough of it and without limits, there are so  many to try!! Kashi go lean crunch actually is kindv'e high, and thats a favorite of mine, All the kashi cereal from the organic line, anything with nuts is garunteed to be cal packed, bannan nut crunch, cranberry almond crunch, honey almond clusters, and a great tone is GRAPE NUTS- 400 cals a cup, not sweet, just good (well atleast I like it!)

muffins can be cal packed and healthy if made with whole grain!

12 1/2 ounces whole wheat pastry flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Heavy pinch salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup walnut oil
1 egg
1 cup soy yogurt (plain) or regular yogurt

1 1/2 cups fresh blueberries

2/3 cup chopped macadamia nuts

(575 cals, 9 g fiber, 13 grams protein, 20 grams fat)

Make them in the mega muffin tins, so you get 6 out of this recipie. in regular muffin tins, just cut all the nutrition facts in half.

Preheat oven to 380 degrees F.

In a large bowl sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and set aside.

In another large bowl, whisk together the sugar, oil, egg and yogurt. Add the dry ingredients reserving 1 tablespoon of the dry ingredients and toss with the blueberries. Stir mixture for a count of 10. Add 1 cup blueberries to mixture and stir 3 more times. Reserve the 1/2 cup of blueberries.

Using a #20 ice cream scoop, add the mixture to greased muffin pans. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of berries on top of muffins and press down lightly. Place into the oven and increase the temperature to 400 degrees. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, rotating pan halfway through. Remove from oven and turn out, upside down on tea towel to cool completely. Serve immediately or store in airtight container for 2 to 3 days.

I like these becase I can deal with a "blueberry muffin" for a snack, but you get almost 600 delicious calories out of it!!

bannana bread is annother good option, but in my house it always goes to waste. Believe it or not, corn on the cob is an easy way to add to your dinners. 2 large ears withsmart balance is over 300 calories to add to your meal!
