About

Bio

So in April I separated from my husband and totally deviated from my healthy eating track.  With my new found freedom and sense of relief from getting out of an oppresive relationship, I found it really difficult to deny myself anything.  Being the parent of a teenager who is very aware of my behavior, my only real indulgence was food.  As a result, I gained back 13 of the 36 lbs I had lost.  Life has settled down again, and it is time to get back to it.   50 more lbs to go....

***********************************************************************

I turned 35 this year.  Oh,my.  Where does the time go?  I have a 14yr old son who is the joy of my life.  I am finding parenting a teenage boy, while exasperating, highly entertaining.  I'm a native Texan but relocated temporarily to Albuquerque, New Mexico 10 yrs ago and never left.

I've struggled with my weight since childhood and have always had the propensity towards weight gain.  As a teen I lost most of it and was offered modeling opportunities and was even a finalist a beauty pagent.  However, struggling to maintain my looks resulted in constant dieting and other unhealthy habits like starving and binging.  The consequence of which is that after the birth of my son, my metabolism was shot and I went from a size 4 to a 14 over the course of 2 yrs.

I have tried to diet over the last 10 years but have managed only to gain more weight.  I topped the scale last year at 228 when I had a medical scare that helped put things in perspective for me.  I have since made an effort not so much to diet, but become healthier overall.  Obviously weight loss is my goal, but not my whole focus.  My focus is on being at my optimum health not what the numbers on the scale say.  I started Calorie Count down 8lbs from last year and hope to lose another 65.

I am learning everyday how to love myself for who I am and not allow my physical appearance define me.  This journey is as much about my mental and emotional health and self image as it is about my eating habits.

Allergy Remedies
Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
