Lol, our little girl does the exact same thing to my husband, kick, kick, kick, then as soon as he puts his hand on he bump she's quiet again. He's only felt her 3 times so far (although I feel her constantly throughout the day and night). I like to think it's a sign that Daddy will be able to quiet/calm her easily once she arrives. ;-)

Poor you dracolithfright, sounds like you're having a really hard time of it so far, bed rest sounds really difficult. I hope everything works out okay for you.

Hmm, yeah I've started to only weigh myself every couple of weeks or so now as it's kind of hard to see all those lbs I worked so hard to lose coming back (even though rationally I know it's not all fat I'm gaining). I'm nearly 23 weeks and have already put on 21lbs. Ouch! I'm nearly back up to my pre-caloriecount weight, which is definitely scary. I've been trying to eat healthily, with the occasional splurge, but I seem to go through really hungry phases. I've also been doing some kind of exercise every day (walking most days plus either pilates, yoga or aerobics for 30-40 minutes). To be honest, I'm just going with what my body seems to need just now, I'd rather have to lose some extra lbs later than risk undernourishing my baby (which I know is unlikely anyway, but this is how I'm trying to rationalise the weightgain to myself so I don't get upset). Also, even though the scale says I've put on 21lbs, I'm still fitting into UK size 12 clothes, albeit ones that aren't too fitted, or have a little stretch for the wee bump, so it can't be that bad, lol.

Oooh, our little trip up north the other week was fab, thanks tblover900! We had a very relaxing 2 nights away in a lovely little B&B, we did a bit of walking the first day (as the weather was nice) but the second day was chucking with rain so we went for a tour round the Dewar whisky distillery instead (which was just a half hour drive away) - really interesting tour, just a shame I wasn't able to sample a wee dram of the whisky! Ah well, next time maybe. It was just really nice to have some time for the two of us alone, although we're both SO looking forward to becoming three very soon!

Eek! The fainting spell must have been so scary! I hope all goes well at your appointment.

I grew up hearing the story of the time my Mum (who was pregnant with my older brother at the time) was out in the garden speaking to a neighbour over the fence when she suddenly fainted right into the rosebushes. Ouch! So I always figured fainting was just another of the possible symptoms of pregnancy. I'm sure I've read somewhere that it's due to lower than normal blood pressure during pregnancy. Luckily I've not felt faint as yet, fingers crossed it stays that way.

I hope you feel better soon.

Yeah, we're really hoping for a natural birth too, but at the same time also trying to keep an open mind as I just won't know until it's actually happening how I'll really cope. I'm trying to keep up with the pregnancy yoga, pilates and good old walking so at least I'll be vaguely in shape (I hope) for the demands of labour. We've got a series of classes booked through NCT (National Childbirth Trust) starting in two and a half weeks - I can't wait! I'm also going to go to the NHS run classes too - but I'll have to go to those alone as they are much later on (at 30-34 weeks) so hubby will be in the midst of harvest-time madness by that point. Really looking forward to those classes too though. Particularly looking forward to learning things like the breathing exercises for during labour. Also it'll be so good to be surrounded by others at the same stage of pregnancy to compare notes (and bumps, lol)

Yeah, I totally agree with jordielg, I wouldn't want my Mum (and definitely not my MIL!) in the room when I'm delivering. My husband will be with me and even he's been warned by me to "stay at the top-end of the bed" as I don't want him seeing any of the gross stuff happening down there (I don't want to look either, lol). Although saying that, he's actually a farmer so he's totally not squeamish at all - I, on the other hand, get totally grossed out at the mere sight of blood. I can't even look when I'm giving blood... what a wimp!

And the result is in... it's a girl! I was totally stunned and SO happy! I was so convinced it was going to be a boy too, lol. I am already having fantasies about buying adorable little frilly socks and dresses, eek! We're just so excited! All seemed to be well with the various measurements too, thank goodness. So just 19 weeks (give or take) until we meet our daughter, I just can't wait! I hope you're all doing well. I'm off to pack for our wee mini-break now (if I can get my head back down out of the clouds for long enough, haha) x

Lol, I'm right there with you on the weight gain - I've gained about 16lbs at 20 weeks. Although I've been trying a lot harder to eat more healthily recently (and have even been logging this week - except yesterday when I lapsed and ate everything in sight). I've also been trying to get in at least 30 mins exercise each day (mainly walking, yoga or the occasional bike ride), so all in all not too bad.

Yeah, we're going on a wee mini-break later this week - we're going to a B&B in the Scottish Highlands (about an hour and a half's drive away), and one of our lovely neighbours is even looking after our dog so it'll be just us. Bliss!

I'm off work all this week so I've also booked a haircut/conditioning treatment and a pregnancy massage (SO looking forward to this!), plus I've managed to persuade the hubby to drive to Ikea tomorrow afternoon to pick up a few more baby bits. Yay! My hubby is a farmer so we're really having to get everything organised now as he'll soon be into his uber-busy period (grrr, I hate harvest time!).

And of course we have our exciting scan on Tuesday. I'll try to get on here to post the result. Eeeeek!

Yup, I think I have the beginnings of stretchmarks appearing on my breasts (doh!), ah well, I'm just trying to moisturise every day and hoping for the best (I'm pretty sure it's just the luck of the draw whether or not your skin is susceptible to getting stretchmarks or not). I got stretchmarks on the back my legs as a teen from growing so fast (I think), and they seemed to fade away pretty quickly within a number of months (over 10 years later, I can hardly see them at all) so I'm not majorly worried about them (although it might be a different story in a couple of months if I end up covered in them, lol)

Take care

Wow katyayer, that's great you've been feeling kicks/prods! When the hubby and I were watching a film on Saturday night, our little one was kicking really strongly - I told hubby to put his hand on the bump and see if he could feel it and he felt a definite little kick! He was SO excited, bless him! Although I've not had any more kicks strong enough for him to feel since, but it was amazing! We find out the sex a week tomorrow (Tuesday 8th) - eeek!

Yeah, I wish I could stop eating everything in sight! Ah well, I must be super-hungry for a reason so I'm just going to go with it (and maybe eat more healthily than a whole can of prawn cocktail flavoured pringles next time, lol)

Hmm, tblover900 - yeah, it sounds like moving back with your parents might be the best idea just now - I really don't like the sound of that black mold! Good luck with the packing next week (and try not to be doing any heavy lifting!)

Wow, a girl - congratulations jordielg! Brilliant news! It's still another week and a half until we find out the sex (although for some unknown reason I am totally convinced ours is a boy) - I just can't wait!!! I'm sure it'll make everything seem that much more real, if you know what I mean. The wee one has been totally hyper in my belly in the last week or two, no longer just slight flutterings, but definite movements - it must be kicks or punches or somersaults - but something is definitely going on in there, it'll be amazing once my hubby can actually see/feel the movements too.

Ooh, weight gain - don't even go there, lol. *Luckily* I had put on a few lbs (*ahem* 5lbs) over the Christmas period so I'm going to count my pre-pregnancy weight as that slightly higher weight, lol. In which case I've put on 13lbs by 19 weeks pregnant, which isn't too bad. I'm not too worried (well, most of the time anyway), as long as I'm nourishing my baby, then that's the most important thing (that's what I keep telling myself anyway, lol).

Yup, I'm totally getting the freaky dreams too - I had a horrible one the other night that the doctors were trying to trick me into getting induced way too early at 30 weeks, eek! Crazy pregnancy-hormone addled brain! And I've totally been feeling the fear of abandonment too - in a crazy hormonal moment the other night (I also had a nasty cold and was feeling a bit sorry for myself at the time), I cried because my hubby hadn't gone shopping for fruit and veg (as I was feeling too ill to go myself) on the day that I'd asked him to (at 11pm at night, haha) so I totally convinced myself it was because he didn't care about me or the baby and cried myself to sleep. Then first thing the next day, he went out and bought all my favourite fruits/veges, bless him. Oh dear, sometimes I think that my poor husband has the harder part of this bargain, dealing with my hormonal ups and downs on a daily basis, lol.

Yeah, motivation is definitely lacking a bit for me too. Like you tblover900 I've switched to decaf and have been taking my vitamins. But we have managed to choose and buy our travel system and I've even practised assembling/disassembling the various ways it can be set up, so at least that's one thing off the list. Phew! Apart from that though, we still have everything still to do/organise. I really should get a move on before the third trimester as I'll probably start feeling even more tired and unmotivated by then, lol.

And I've just ordered some lovely maternity support tights (sooo attractive!), I work in an office 9-5, and even going for a 30-45 minute walk at lunchtime isn't helping to relieve that horrible tight and heavy feeling in legs I seem to get after sitting for a while. Hopefully these tights will help though.

I hope you're all well.

Weight Loss how do you eat your hard boiled eggs? Apr 16 2012

I like HB eggs diced and mixed with a little extra light mayo - I eat it just like that with no bread or anything (but then I'm weird, lol) or I also like diced HB egg mixed with diced tomato (we used to have egg and tomato sandwiches as a child, mmm!) I really like the sound of the above idea of using lettuce as a wrap though, I'll have to try this.

Weight Loss So Frustrating :( Apr 16 2012

Yup, I agree soup is a really tasty way to eat veg. I also like to add (*ahem* hide) either grated or finely diced carrot/courgette/peas/bell peppers/green beans etc into sauces (like bolognese, ) which totally disguises the taste/texture of the veggies but you're still getting them into your diet.

Motivation Salt... it's a slippery slope. Strange, as it works well as a de-icing agent. Apr 11 2012

Yeah, I don't really tend to add salt to many things (except maybe sometimes I'll add a pinch of salt when I'm making homemade soup, but only if it tastes like it needs it). I prefer my veggies oven roasted with some garlic, rosemary and thyme (or other combinations of herbs) and just a couple of sprays of olive oil spray. My current faves are carrots, onions, sweet potatoes, parsnips, tomatoes, bell peppers, courgettes and mushrooms. Mmmm...

Hi katyayer

Due Date: our DDs are super-close - mine is 19th September 2012!

Boy or Girl: We don't know yet whether our little one is a boy or girl (I feel like it might be a boy, no idea why though!) - we have our scan booked for 8th May so hopefully the little one will comply and let the sonographer see the necessary, lol.

My husband and I started TTC as soon as we got married nearly 2 and a half years ago, without success, but eventually after tests it turned out I have an underactive thyroid which was causing our trouble TTC. Once the thyroid medication had kicked in and my thyroid level had regulated we thankfully managed to conceive really quickly. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and have been feeling so much better in these last few weeks. From week 6 until quite recently I was feeling constantly sick 24 hours a day and I felt totally knackered most of the time, but luckily this has finally abated. No more after work naps are necessary, and I’m finally feeling much more like myself again. Unfortunately with the combination of tiredness and nausea throughout my first trimester I had only really managed the occasional yoga session and lunchtime walk. But now that my energy is back I've started exercising properly again – which includes 30-60 min walks most days with my lovely dog, cycling on my stationary bike for 30 minutes several times a week and practicing yoga for half an hour before bed most nights..

Excitingly ever since last week I've been feeling the first fluttering of movement - usually when I'm sitting down quietly after dinner I'll get the familiar twinges/flutters in my abdomen – totally amazing!

Good luck to everyone else who is due to be an Autumn Mum this year!

Hi nannabee21

My husband and I started TTC as soon as we got married two and a half years ago (we've been together nearly 10 years in total). I joined CC about 6 months after getting married as I'd put on a few lbs and was worried that this might be affecting our chances of conceiving. I then managed to lose 28 lbs over the next 6 months with the help of CC but unfortunately still wasn't pregnant. So after 18 months of unsuccessful trying, I eventually plucked up the courage to go to my doctor for tests to find out whether there was an underlying problem. It turned out I have an underactive thyroid, which my doctor was able to get back to normal levels with medication within about 6 months, my husband and I then started TTC again, and within a couple of months I got the result we'd been waiting so long for! I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and we're both over the moon!

I hope everything works out for you too. Good luck on your TTC journey!
