|The Lounge||My parents and my ex husband....||Sep 25 2011
I appreciate your opinions. It just wasn't a good fit. We started a "friendly" divorce, but anyone with divorce experience knows that is not possible. He got nasty after the divorce, which was final in May. So maybe it's just that it is all still very new, and he's been such a jerk lately. I just think because he's treating me like crap now, I should have family support that's not two-faced.
|The Lounge||My parents and my ex husband....||Sep 25 2011
We do have kids, but we also have 50/50 placement. My parents live 1.5 hours away. Why do they need to stay in contact with him? I know I occasionally have to see the douchbag, but why can't they cut the ties completely? There is no reason MY parents can't get updates about the kids from me. He doesn't need to be sending them pictures and soccer schedules, I'm more than capable and talk to my mom daily. Maybe I'm being selfish, but I want my family to myself. I think they are being a little disrespectful.

I actually use Wasa crackers in place of chips. They are 30 calories a cracker and it's a big cracker. They also have 2 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber.

|Fitness||How long until all my hard work begins to go down the drain?||Oct 01 2010
Being sick is a good reason not to exercise. Your body needs all the energy it can get to help make you feel better. That being said, being sick is defined by you. I exercise through a lot. If I'm not throwing up or have a fever, I do something. You can walk with a sinus infection. You can probably do more than that if you really put your mind to it. Once you get going , you may actually feel better. All I'm saying is stop finding excuses not to exercise; you'd be amazed at what you can work through. You don't have to work as hard as you do on your non-sick days, and you don't even have to finish if you can't. But there's something to be said for at least trying. You may even find that exercising makes you feel better faster and you won't be sick as often.

|Fitness||Hungry!||Aug 26 2010
I think your body is just responding to all the change. You are indeed increasing your metabolism, but that doesn't always mean you should eat more. Make sure you are taking in the right amount of nutrients to sustain your workouts, but do your best to hold off on over eating until your body adjusts. If you still always feel as though you are starving, use the tools to recalculate how many calories you should be eating.

|Weight Loss||I look pregnant...but I'm not!||Aug 19 2010
This may just be another one of the reasons being short can suck. Not only are you thin, but short. You have a lot of intestines to cram into a smaller space along with other vital organs. Not much we shorties can do about that. As much as you may want that "model" flat stomach, the way your body is designed may not ever allow you to accomplish that. I know, not necessarily what you want to hear. Like another poster mentioned, my stomach also looks best first thing in the morning, but I eat lots of fruit, veggies and other high fiber foods giving what I see as round belly. Fortunately others may not see you that way. I guess what it comes down to is we just have to be happy we are healthy and accept the fact that we may never get that perfect look we were going for.
|Fitness||Elliptical machines for petite women?||Aug 15 2010
What does being short have anything to do with it? I'm 5' and would feel comfortable on any elliptical machine. If you are talking about the ones with the arm bars that move with the legs, don't use them. You are on the elliptical to run not swing your arms like a crazy person:) I always ignore the arm bars. I don't walk with walking sticks. Besides, using a more natural position will make sure you are focusing on a more correct form using your legs to move the "pedals" and using your abs to stay upright and maintain balance. Just make sure you have enough resistance on the machine so your legs aren't going crazy and you are doing the work vs. gravity.
|Fitness||Lower stomach sticking out but underweight? Ab exercises?||Aug 15 2010
I'm not really sure where to start. First, I guess, I should congratulate you on realizing you need to gain weight. That can't be easy. Second, unfortunately, I truly believe that not everyone can achieve the model perfect flat stomach. Your genetics play a huge role in this. I have very strong abs with visible muscle and I also think my lower abdomen protrudes more than it should. But honestly, it's probably not as bad as you think. Of course we can all see our flaws because we look for them, but to everyone else, your stomach does look flat.
As far as exercise goes, just because you are trying to gain weight, I don't agree with the other poster that you should not be exercising. Exercise achieves more than just weight loss. Weight training and dancing sound like healthy exercise. Doing abs everyday is overkill. Just like other muscles in your body, your abs need a break.
So for now, I would try to relax and just focus on being healthy.
Good luck to you.
|Fitness||How do I measure?||Aug 09 2010
You can get a cloth measuring tape at any craft section of a store I would think. Some of the more common areas to measure are:
Upper arms/biceps. You will measure around the largest part, usually the middle of the upper arm.
Waist. Measure around your body at belly button level.
Hips. Start at the thickest part of your butt cheeks and measure around.
Thighs. Again measure around the middle.
Calves. Once again measure around the middle.
I would measure once a week or so to measure your progress.
|Fitness||Stamina question ?||Aug 09 2010
Good for you for trying to learn as much as you can and for starting your recovery. I can't imagine it's easy.
That being said, no matter what your weight is, exercise is important. I would continue to run for the health benefits and your stamina. That being said, you're going to have to remember on your running days, you may need to eat more. Just like someone who is trying to lose, you need to count your calories and make sure you are hitting your minimums.
Good luck to you.

|Weight Loss||Help! Stuck at the same weight. Any suggestions?||Jul 13 2010
Going by what you posted you eat, are you sure that's at least 1200 calories? Anyway, as much as you don't want to hear it, I think you should up your calories, most of that being in the morning. You need to start with a better breakfast, no ifs, ands or buts:) That is what gets your metabolism going. You don't have to make some big extravagant breakfast, but have something available to eat. I would also consider changing your drink, I don't know off hand how much sugar, protein and fiber is in slim fast.
How about a bowl of oatmeal- that's quick and easy. Or even a high fiber, low calorie wrap with some turkey and hummus? Nobody said you have to eat breakfast food for breakfast. Is it also possible to make time for breakfast by getting up 20 minutes earlier?
