A run, Greek yogurt and edamame seem to do the trick for me. But really, running has been the best prevention. I'm "outrunning any health issues" LOL. I'm also totally cheesy, but that's another story. :)

I find that when I eat a healthy portion of fiber, I feel nice and full for quite sometime. Try some whole wheat wraps packed with some beans and salsa or low fat cheese. It's healthy, filling and low calorie.

Try also adding nuts to meals or snacks. A small handful can really help to satisfy your hunger and as long as you don't use too many, it can still be relatively low in calories.

I also love edamame for busting hunger pains. It's got lots of protein and go very well with a small bowl of low butter and salt popcorn. that way you get fiber and protein which are both hunger busters. :D

Best of luck!

Maintaining Survey! Aug 04 2012
13:39 (UTC)
8

What are your stats? Age?- 22, 5'8, 130lbs

How active are you currently?- I jog 5 days a week

How much do you maintain on (or thereabout)?- 2000 i suppose, not really sure, I munch a lot during the day lol

Do you count calories?- in a casual, guesstimate kind of way

Do you intuitively eat?- i try to

How long have you been maintaining your weight?- about a year and a half

Would you say you've been successful?- yep, only a couple of pounds up and down

How many times a week do you exercise?- 5 days, but on the other two days I do low intensity stuff like walking or dancing

How intense are your exercise sessions?- the 5 day sessions are pretty intense I suppose, I'm super sweaty and out of breath lol

Does your exercise routine vary? Or is it the same each week?- pretty much the same, probably time for a change

Are you training for a sport? Or exercising for health?- for health and FUN!

How many times a month do you go out to eat?- maybe 3 and those are typically forced. There aren't a lot of vegetarian friendly restaurants where I live so I'm usually stuck with eating a plain baked potato and a salad.

When you go out to eat, do you keep health and macros and calories in mind, or do you just say "screw it" and get what you want?- see above. usually it's boring, unless they have a veggie burger in the back

Do you have a cheat meal? Cheat day? How does it work for you?- not really, I love healthy foods and so I feel like I'm always cheating but it's good for me lol

Do you eat significantly more on cheat days?- no cheat days

Do you get dessert when you go out to eat?-  nope, I'm not big on sweets, I prefer salty

If you don't have a cheat day, and take a more moderate approach, How many times a week on average do you eat "junk food" (ex, pizza, mac n cheese, etc)?- slim to none, I enjoy some popcorn every now and then, but I don't really consider it junk

If you don't have a cheat day, and take a more moderate approach, How many times a week do you eat sweets on average?- slim to none. not a big fan

Any other advice for this struggling maintainer?- Make the scale an everyday ritual, but not an obsessive thing to worry over. Relax and breathe, the number on the scale WILL change almost daily, but give yourself a five to seven pound swing on either side of your desired weight and don't worry until you are outside of your range and then, take action, cut back slightly or exercise a bit more.

You could always make your own yummy frozen treats. I'm not sure where in the world you are, but here (US), they sell Popsicle makers which are just like big ice cube makers that you can fill with diet sodas, natural fruit juices ect. to make low calorie, healthy treats to enjoy. I also love munching on dry, unsweetened cereal while studying or either edamame, which is so delicious and filling. :) best of luck!

I enjoy a boca meatless original vegan burger once in awhile, however, I love tossing black beans or kidney beans into a whole wheat wrap or salad even more! Also try edamame, it's packed with protein and fun to pop out of its' shells. I snack on it during movies. Also Greek yogurt is another way that I get tons of protein every morning. It keeps me full and is so thick, creamy and yummy. Check it out.

It looks like you've gotten a bunch of great suggestions. I just figured I'd throw in one of my favorite meal ideas. :)

I love having 1/4 c. of black beans mixed with a bit of sour cream and Parmesan cheese and some raw shredded cabbage, carrots and radishes tossed in a whole wheat wrap with a serving of potato straws and maybe a side of green beans or some other veggie.

Wraps are so easy and quick to throw together. I love it!

A Week of Clean-Eating Dinners
I’m trying to give my eating habits a little cleanup these days. It’s easy to pay close attention to what I’m eating on the weekends when I’ve got tons of time on my hands to prepare delicious meals, but during the week when time is less available I feel the pull of convenience foods for their, well, convenience. Here’s what I try to live by when all I have is 30 minutes to prepare a "clean" meal.
