Foods Possible idea: Freezing "binge" foods Nov 03 2011

I love this idea, but whenver I freeze food, it always tastes stale when it thaws. How do you store the frozen stuff? Maybe my ziplock bags are not the right kind?

I like to try to remember the extra energy and positive mood I have during the day after I have done a morning workout. It's hard to push myself to go to the pool (there's one in my condo) but I am happy it has been done by the time I get to work! and I feel happier, boosted during the day. I also kind of like the smell of chlorine, so that's a bonus... I know most people think that stinks, but I kind of like it for some reason.

I also take a before and after (face) picture, and for some reason, I actually do look skinnier after my pool workout.

there's no way I would ever watch a movie like that. I'd be scared out of my wits cuz I'm a chicken when it comes to the supernatural. I know most of the stuff has reasonable explanations, but I just would be awake all the time

good luck... hope you have a pet in the house with you!

I agree that if I have the willpower to actually stop eating and throw it away, it feels good even though it is a waste.

I have been good for almost 2 weeks now - that's a recent record! I think if I don't "better make it a big one", it's better. I never realized I thought that, but it's true - I do have this thought in the background.

- This is kinda effective for me (sometimes). When i get some cravings and i really can't control it, i go in front of the mirror, i give myself a strong slap and tell myself aloud, "kevin, you fat pig, you're a worthless @#$%@#$!!" and give myself a few more slaps until i get to my senses. i'm trying to associate pain with cravings so i wouldn't want to have them.

hope that helps.

 that's hilarious!

but the other points are pretty good! I will try the other tips! especially drink 8 glasses of water and try to take a nap

.. I am in a similar situation as emmalee, but I'm not that short. I'm 5'6 and not that thin, but my pot belly is the bain of my weight gain! I look pregnant and am not (helpful women offer their seat to me thinking that I'm expecting - it's embarrassing!)

I am not extremely overweight but my stomach looks pregnant. It's the biggest weight gain area i have on me

... I wonder how to get my gut more muscled? or firm as opposed to paunchy

I will try doing more weights and try to keep up some daily cardio

I too convinced myself food equalled fun.   I would forgo spending time with friends to stay at home, eat and watch TV.  I'd even spend my birthdays alone eating my favorite foods.  But this kind of behavior isn't like hypnotism, it's something you can think your way out of.

Think of the places food consumption has expanded into your life.  A great way is to write down what you eat and why you ate it, for absolutely everything, especially the small stuff.  Then think of ways you can stop your brain from associating food with those activities. For example:

These are just some suggestions to stop yourself from subconsciously treating food as something that goes along with other things.  If you come up with a bunch more, suited to your specific food triggers you'll be teaching yourself that eating is an activity apart from the rest of your day, and your brain wont be telling you to eat all the time.

this is very insightful... I hope I can do this too.

I know for a fact that I have lost all interests other than food, and it is making me chunky. I'm having a very difficult time NOT equating food with fun times. It's making me sad not to be able to allow myself to eat with free reign... sounds so crazy too.

I feel like I am addicted to food just like the first subject

Aside from the repulsive idea of eating meat grown in petri dish, I wouldn't eat it because I don't trust any food product grown by scientists.  I'm sure I do eat some GMO stuff, but I do try to avoid it whenever possible.

yeah, super gross! I don't trust scientist's creations.........

"franken-food" is a good description

More relevantly, personally I like to ball up under a blanket (that keeps my hands inside so I can't be snacking at the same time) on my bed and watch a film :)

that sounds do-able! and practical too... I usually kind of like to snack while watching movies, but if they're under the blanket, i can't be eating - haha

what are your stats and how many calories are you eating? can you post a sample day's meals?

 Ht: 5'5 or 5'6"

wt: 172lbs

avg day:

bfast - espresso w 1/2 c of 2% milk, 1c of oatmeal with milk and raisins and 1 Tbsp white sugar (I am trying to quit this small amt of sugar, but it is so much better with it, I feel it is kind of a minor evil)

snack - a banana, and 6-12 almonds

lunch - a subway pizza sub, or viet sub, or small size pho noodles soup with beef

dinner - sausage on a bun with green salad w balsalmic vinaigrette dressing, or some kind of meat with wilted greens dressed w veg oil and oyster sauce... usually have a glass of wine or a beer with dinner

ok, i will try to stick with salads for awhile... I'm worried that I'll get bored of the foods that work well, or worse, get allergic to it. Can you eat too many boiled eggs in a week? is one a day too many? I love boiled eggs - they seem to be lasting energy, and they are low cal. sometimes i eat 2 a day...

Worth it: mango meringue cake with real whip cream

Not worth it: overhyped (by the waiter) banquet burger with bacon, cheddar, mushroom & onions -- it was full of grease and calories, and didn't actually taste especially good............i felt tricked into eating excess calories! the waiter said it was the best thing in the restaurant... NO IT WASN'T!

Is It Possible to Go Natural?
The side effects of allergy medications keep some people from using them. Natural remedies can be a great alternative, but some are more effective than others.
