You have absolutely no idea how proud I am of you and amazed with your progress. If I had to give an 'average' and since you're young, I'd say maybe 1800-2100 on non active days and 2000-2300 on lightly active days :) Your weight will naturally fluctuate though, so keep in mind that if you are 114 or 116 it doesn't always mean you 'lost' or 'gained' weight if you know what I mean. Good luck. You are such an inspiration :) |

I just want to put my 2 cents in. YOU don't want to look sick, your eating disorder wants to look sick. There's a big difference. You may be struggling now, but keep pushing yourself both mentally and physically and keep eating enough. I know it's easier said than done, but in the long run you'll be thankful you did. I think your body is slender and absolutely beautiful now. Even if you gained 200lbs you'd be gorgeous. Keep fighting <3 xoxo Kayla. |

I honestly don't think it's their faults. Society has basically lured many teenaged girls into thinking a BMI of like 17 is 'perfect' and 'thin' and they just sort of... fall into it. Along with low self esteem. I actually pity them :/ |

I think you should just trust your team. If you weigh yourself & see the number is higher TWICE that could be triggering. I wouldn't even worry about it! Consider it one less thing you have to do tomorrow :) |

I personally do not believe in BMI honestly. An overweight active person that eats healthier is more healthy than a "healthy weight" inactive person that eats a junk food diet! I think you can be healthy under & over the BMI chart depending on your personally BMI history. You say you're at the highest BMI ever? Maybe give it a few weeks. Don't weigh yourself & eat intuitively for a little while. If you maintain, I would assume you're at a good spot! If you gain, then maybe your body wants to weigh a little more :) Congrats by the way! |

| Health & Support | Atkins bars during recovery a bad idea? | Jan 07 2012 13:54 (UTC) |

I actually think those bars are calorie dense, they are not low calorie, they are just low carb! The ones I love are the coconut ones, they're 170cal :) I think having a few a week is fine! It would be disordered to 'ban' them. Just make sure you keep your intake high enough & you should be fine! |

I think you need 2,500+ calories & should stop exercising completely or GREATLY reduce what you're doing now! Maybe just stick to yoga & strength training & light walking? I personally think you need help/IP. |

Being vegan, healthily is usually NOT cheap. If you are wanting to be vegan to 'fit in' or 'be cool' I would strongly recommend NOT being vegan. When I was younger, I went vegan for 'fun' but I ended up missing out on key nutrients for 6 months of my teen years because I was not educated before doing so. |

Maybe this is your body's way of telling you it wants to be at a higher weight? Tips to avoid binging are, say you binge on nuts, when you buy a container of nuts, divide out the portions into 10 or so little baggies. Then, when you want nuts just grab one little baggie & leave the kitchen :) It does sound like you still have an eating disorder/disordered eating to me! |

You are severely underweight. I would gain + eat more healthy fats & take a multi vitamin honestly. Maintaining 86lbs is putting a lot of physical & mental stress on you & your body. |

I really don't think anyone should be eating 1,500cal is they're taller than 5' & active over 20min a day! Your stats sound about right to me, I bet on days you're doing 90+ min of activity you could maintain on over 2,200cal! I personally think it's better to vary your calories, instead of eating EXACTLY 2,000 per day. It's natural to eat more some days & less some days depending on how active/hungry you are :) |

That's just normal skin! Even at my LW my thighs did that, they still do, & my BMI is still 'underweight'. It's just your inner thighs/skin, don't worry about it! |

I honestly wouldn't worry about total calories burned. I'm not sure if you're trying to lose/maintain/gain, but if you are maintaining/losing, just watch your portions, eat healthy & stay active! You're young, you should be fine :) |
