Well, I don't find anyone not vegan less sexually attractive, but it would seriously make me consider a steady, long term relationship to them. I don't consider myself very judgemental when it comes to others' decisions, but there's what I accept outside and what I accept within my home. I don't like the concept of red meat in my house. I don't buy it, I wouldn't let it touch my grill, I'd prefer it not to grease up my pans. The whole 'bloodyness' factor strikes me as barbaric. Could I deal with that day in and day out? Probably not. If it's a friend's house, sure. Whatever... But, if it's someone I'm considering spending the rest of my life with, their dietary needs play a factor in that. I've lived with carnivorous housemates, and while it's unpleasant at times to have a stove crusted with animal fat (I lived with dudes, so it happens), it's not something that's totally unbearable. But, as an adult moving forward, my diet is a big part of my life. It's like dating someone who's a smoker... I don't think less of them as a person (hell, I used to smoke AND eat meat... *gasp*), but that doesn't mean I want it in my face 24/7. -Ken- |

Most of the people I date convert out of ease of lifestyle. I cook a moderate amount and my lifestyle supports a lot of home cooking, so it ends up being much easier for them to be mostly vegan. The normal progression is they start out with their omnivorous lifestyle. Then, they just eat meat when I'm not around. Then, they stop eating meat. Then, they stop eating dairy, etc. Now, I'm only 'mostly vegan' by strict definition, so there's a lot of flexibility in my diet. |

I usually eat some form of trail mix or mixed nuts, raw is preferably better. I do most of my shopping at Whole Foods and Trader Joes... You can find a ton of decent organic stuff there. I also do a lot of hummous with pita chips (preferably homemade, since it's pretty easy to do), carrots, fruit, etc. Really, anything that is a nut/vegetable/fruit or that is directly made from them and is unprocessed is a pretty good vegan option. |

| Weight Loss | I am thinking of doing a fast... | Aug 01 2006 21:38 (UTC) |

I fasted for about a 7 days a couple years ago. I ended up doing the "Master Cleanser" (which several other people I've known have tried). There's more information here: http://www.naturalways.com/mastclea.htm I didn't buy any of the additional suppliments. I didn't really need them. I ended up not really missing food after about Day 3. Day 2 was pretty hard, though. The concoction is a little disgusting, considering it's all you have for like 7 days. But, it gets the job done. There are plenty of other fasting plans out there. I'd recommend looking at 'juice fasts' if you're only going to do it for a day. -Ken- |

I know a ton of great guys in the Boston area, many of them single, in their mid-20s and gainfully employed. You're cute. I suppose it all depends on what you're looking for, as I'd probably have absolutely no problem finding you a date/introducing you to some people. -K- |

I've got like 5,500 songs currently loaded on my iPod, but I'm a music freak (it's not even my whole collection. Heh). I use Pandora these days to find musical selections. It's a Web 2.0 net radio station, where you put in a band or song, and it tries to recommend other bands or songs like it. |

I gave up meat as a protest to the factory farming industry, and the fact that a lot of meat is loaded with hormones and antibiotics. I was never really a huge fan of red meat or pork, and after having a couple pet birds, I got turned off to chicken. That being said, I do eat fish (per doctor's orders) and shellfish, and have no real problem with people eating meat. I treat it as a personal choice, and though I give money to PETA, I don't really follow a lot of their rabid beliefs. |

I actually switched to wheat pasta (when I make something asian/italian now). It makes it a lot easier since the carb count on that is much, much lower than that of the normal stuff.

I hate when people don't wipe down the machine when they're done using it and I have to sop up someone's sweat. And, old guys who wear really short shorts and use the exercise bike directly across from my treadmill, because I become a very unfortunate captive audience. |

| I'm working on Freakonimcs by Levitt currently. It's a great opposing view in the world economics and statistics. If I had to pick my favorite fictional authors, I'd have to say Coupland and Stephenson, with G. R. R. Martin being my favorite fantasy author. | |||

Yeah. I love my egg toaster. Moderately healthy breakfast in about 6 minutes. Plus, as a vegetarian, it'll let me use the meat substitute of my choice. |
