About

Bio

When I lose things, I typically give up any hope of ever finding them again. Especially socks. It is my firm belief that sock marriages end in divorce at a higher rate than any human marriage. Some scientists believe the percentage is close to 90%. Others believe it could be closer to 98%. Both groups usually end up getting so angry over who is right they beat each other senseless then go out for pasta.

To make that story short, I lose things...except weight. That I find. Like stink on cow manure it is always there and it seems to grow more intense the more I ignore it. HOWEVER, I haven't really cared too much until lately...when I started to find my age and waist.

I have never dieted. I did try that south beach diet thing for about 4 months. Lost about 20 pounds. Then, like the disgruntled sock that comes back looking for its mate, I found it again. Mostly this weight gain is because of work related travel and work related eating. I tried suing my employer, but they just told me to shut up and get back to work.

Someone once told me that a person shouldn't go on a diet, but instead go on a 'live-it'. Besides being very cute and deserving of a short giggle, it is my goal to do such a thing. I don't want to necessarily go on a diet as much as learn and understand what I eat then modify it to lose weight and maintain it.

A 'duh moment' for me has been that calories are like a bank account...but in reverse. I want to spend more (calories) than I save. So I came here to do just that. I realized what I had been eating was roughly the equivilent a winning the million dollar lottery and sticking that in the account. I was making way too much money...err...calories in this case.

With modifications on what I eat, monitoring my 'bank' account here, I have done well. Amazing what happens when I pay attention...and...ummm...huh?

My end goal is to be healthy, strong, energetic, and live a productive long life.  So, now I am at it again, budgeting my calories and seeing results. If I can only keep those socks away.
