I've tried it and it tastes nasty! Like peanuts have been burnt to a crisp and then chopped up really fine. It's great for making Thai dishes though.

Having been in the HR field for most of my life, this sort of thing pains me to no end. I have heard the story a million different times. And the more I have talked to supervisors about it the worse it gets. Have you gone through the chain of command or is that not an option? The supervisors have a boss too.

On a positive note however, for the most part, things like this end up working themselves out. What goes around comes around but it may take some time. CYA is always good advice and take comfort in the fact that you do your job to the best of your abilities every single day.

My SO will call me on his cell from the yard. Why can't he just walk the 50 steps?

I think it's something that is learned at a very young age. Kids get away with what their parents don't see. I got fat because I ate when no one was looking thinking that somehow it didn't count if no one saw it. Some people never learn that we must answer to ourselves.

I have lost 44 pounds and still have a ways to go but I have noticed that people treat me differently. I get more walk-around smiles where before I got looks of disgust. I have always been a jolly fat person on the outside so in my case I don't think I am acting any differently.

I've never put someone on ignore.

Because mainly I'm only concerned with what I think anyway so I'm sort of used to ignoring the rest of the world.

I aspire to be more like you!

But wait, I read your profile. Let's see, you want to have your house fixed up by a studly single man who like big dutch butts but you want to own your own business fixing up houses. So does that mean you want to own a crew of studly single males who like big dutch butts?

Well, in an effort to stop the hijack...

Yeah, a lot of people are braver on the internet - it's a term I'm particularly fond of just because of the way it sounds - eballs.  I'll admit that I'm not immune.

However, I've been posting on various forums over the years, and I'll say that CC is one of the tamest environments I've participated in.  Really.  If this really gets to you, don't even bother to venture elsewhere.

I agree with a certain amount of decorum and respect is better and fosters more interesting discussions, but I've developed a thick skin and learned to not let internet postings bother me so much.  It's very much a caveat emptor atmosphere, and I accept it.  When I come across something I don't like, I hit the "ignore" button, or leave, and get on with my life.

Does it drive you absolutely mad when you put someone on ignore and then you just have to know what that person is saying?

Oh yeah, and I am old... I remember when Yahoo chat was just beginning and we had a great group. No one had grown e-balls yet! Then I left to do something...oh yeah - grow up and have babies. I came back to chat and it was a different world.

We're hijacking?  I thought we were arguing.

One of these days we'll follow all the rules and play nice peaches.  Watch, I'll get us back on topic.

kmej - don't let anything stop you from posting.  Even if someone argues, that doesn't mean the OP or someone else in the thread won't find something valuable in what you have to say.

*beams proudly at my maturity and on-topicness*

Okay, I am now officially impressed at your maturity!

Ok, I know that the theme of the day has kind of moved to "hijacking", but lets try to keep from hijacking every thread in the lounge.  The OP's don't always enjoy it.

Edit:  They also don't always know we are kidding when we call each other stupid.

Nope, I am actually enjoying this because I know you guys do this sort of thing as friends!

lorik, I think you may have hit on something. Maybe over the years we have kept so much inside that it has festered in to no one being able to discuss rationally their differences of opinion. Hmmmm

I actually enjoy the conversations among friends that throw that kind of stuff at each other in a funny way but you can tell the difference even if you are not part of that group. I so wanted to find a group like that and am just disappointed that I haven't.

Motivation comes in funny ways and it isn't always weight related (as in the Motivational Forum). Sometimes just coming on here and reading someone's funny conversations is motivation to me. Sometimes I just want to come here and "talk" and laugh and not think about my weight issues.

Ok, so us older folks are just slower to post... I have done it a few times - get married and divorced that is. What happens is that we outgrow the men mentally. Women blossom in their 30s and 40s. They become more confident in their own skin and with their sexual - ahem - abilities. Men aspire to be 21 all their lives and the farther they get away from it the harder they run to it. All the while they are not even noticing that the lady beside them is blossoming into a beautiful and confident woman who needs more out of life.

Make sure you are breathing through your nose as much as possible. Breathing through your nose sends the signal to your brain that it has oxygen.  A few long slow deep breaths through the nose and exhaled through the mouth should stop the yawning... unless you are truly sleepy that is.

Weight Loss I have spent 4 months being completely confused. Can someone help? Jun 13 2009

Jessica, I have been there and know what it is like. I was stumped for about 3 months when I just bit the bullet and ordered the GoWear Fit. I paid 180 plus tax, and s&h plus it is 6.95 a month to use the website. And I have to tell you it has been worth every penny! Entering your consumed calories is a little more cumbersome than on CC but you get used to it. The armband tracks everything - even your sleep! It also makes me challenge myself more just to see what the charts will look like! It also commits me a little more because people see me wearing it so they are expecting results and I can't let them down!?!

I know it is a chunk of money and I felt foolish to begin with but I have lost 5 pounds in the 1 1/2 weeks I have been using it and I had been on a 3 month plateau! It really let me see where I was going wrong.

Good luck!
