Health & Support how to help my 9-year-old sister? Oct 21 2012

maybe record it and then they'll believe it, i dunno but i think that no matter how much positive talk you're going to give, if a person keeps going on for hours and hours then it's gonna sink in(i've been there) I would tell someone and make them listen because this is not an environment for any kid to live in

I would tell her that what he's saying is crap(not once but every time he days or does something)

I would also tell her lots of positive things about her(often) and try and work some positive, and stand up to your dad and letting him know that he needs to stop and that it's not acceptable(is there anyone whose help you can ask to talk to your father)?

I had the same thing.

I had to keep telling myself that she needs to lose weight while i need to gain.

I stopped thinking it just by telling myself that over and over

At some point i would try and let them eat more so i don't feel guilty but then i thought about how i would hate it if someone did that to me so i stopped.

It sucks but maybe it's the extra thing you need to stop comparing

Yes, it sounds like you have a serious problem, can you get counselling, i think that you need to tell someone so they can help you

Also, what type of food do you eat? I ate 4 meals a day, they just didn't consist of a lot of calories

Well I've been losing weekly but this week I went up two pounds and I've noticed I'm not going to the bathroom as often and my stomach is protruding more. I doubt I'll get my period, but the whole experience--if it is TOTM symptoms and not weight gain-- isn't having a good impact on my damaged mindset right now. I've eaten approximately 1350 calories in my feeble attempt to eat more (and this was after i spent my first half an hour of the day literally staring at the food in the kitchen cupboard trying to decide if I was going to eat or not until my parents got angry at me and I bit the bullet and decided to get something) but a rise on the scale when you're no where near a suitable amount isn't the most encouraging of signs to make you want to eat more. It's awful that a year has gone and Im basically trapped in the same place again, I've practically come full circle.

I stopped weighing myself 6 months ago and it feels great, i can feel water weight some time during the month but no longer the daily wheel of fortune that's going to decide how i'm going to feel on that day, I'm still recovering but that is one thing that has really helped me

Is this everywhere is japan(i doubt it) or just Okinawa?

My sister was in Japan last year and they eat a lot more than that, I read it about Okinawa and asked about it and the calories consumed were not controlled, the individuals themselves estimated their calorie intake

Health & Support Is this too much water? Aug 14 2012

I don't drink anything else other than water and 1 cup of tea in the morning

I don't smoke or get caffeine in my system

I read something about the electrolytes getting messed up but couldn't find out if that was only when you drank a lot at once

Also i never feel overfull from water, i'm genuinely thirsty and stop drinking if i'm not thirsty anymore, the reason i was wondering is because people who drink a lot drink 3 litres and that's half of what i drink

If the electrolytes are out of balance because of it, how would i know?

Would you mind gaining? it's too little and isn't the reason you're asking this because this is an ED thought?

I think that you should gain weight

Nobody seems to have replied

I am a recovering anorexic too.

You're not losing weight because your body is in starvation mode, you need to up your calories to at least 2000, more if you can, it should fix your metabolism. You will gain a bit of weight in the beginning but soon your metabolism'll kick in

I don't think that your brain is capable of having a positive body image at this low of an intake, your heart needs to keep beating so the last thing your food is going to go to is the brain.

You need to get serious about your recovery because i don't think that you want to keep living like this for the rest of your life. Gaining  a little weight, won't kill us.

You're not hungry because your body is used to starving itself, after you start eating again, your appetite will come.

I don't think it's just vanity, anorexia goes deeper than that.

Are you seeing a psychologist? I assume not, i think you should, a psych can help you

I'm having issues believing the same thing. Constantly insecure about my thighs. It's like I feel they should be rock hard :/

That's exactly how i feel/felt, then after i saw those freakishly thin girls and they still jiggles i started wondering

I'm recovering from an Ed and i'm trying to know what's normal.

If anybody has any other opinions please let me know

Weight Loss Ramadan! Jul 24 2012

I would stay away from the fried foods, in Egypt when you say ghee, you mean A lot, most people in egypt gain weight in ramadan and once they start the sweet stuff, they can't stop. You could walk a little like 10 minutes at a slow pace, or walk around in a mall(don't know where you live)water drinking is good

and take care the salads are not dripped in oil, even the stuff that's in tomato sauce is full of it(no i'm not afraid of fat but i know how much Egyptians put in there) if you control the portions, it should be ok, try not to eat out much:)

and it doesn't matter what time you eat, it comes down to the calories
