I skipped my weigh in in may but i'l weigh in and measure on the 15th of june. Then I'm leaving for two weeks to europe with my family! Hope everyone else is doing good!

I also tend to read multiple books at the same time

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern I'm a little more than half way through and it is getting really good

Bleak House I'm reading this because I felt like I should start reading more classics. Its hard to get into but its starting to get better

206 Bones by Kathy Reichs I'm listening to this one on audiobook. I love all of her stuff
Health & Support internal/ colon cleansers and dieting ? Apr 26 2012

I did a 3 month colon cleanse and it didn't help me lose any weight. I did feel better afterwards though. I've also done a week long cleanse that was much cheaper. I still didn't lose any extra weight but it does work if you follow the directions. I'm not sure if they are any more effective than upping your fiber and increasing your water intake though. I would just say if you do decide to do a cleanse don't expect a miracle. You probably won't lose a ton of weight.

As someone who provides patient care these stories make me so sad. I've worked with people that definiely don't have any bedside manner and unfortunately it can take years for them to figure out they shouldn't be working with people. You have every right to complain. Even if you think its been too long. My boss takes every complaint seriously and addresses every one. I imagine it would be the same most places they would rather suspend or fire someone than get sued.

I just wanted to thank you all for taking the time to read my post and giving me some support.  Wednesday was okay.  I did work out and ate under my calories.  Thursday was a little better.  I went for a nice long walk and again stayed under my calories.  I love Calorie Count!  Whenever I'm having a bad day I can log onto the forums and never feel like I'm alone.  Good luck everyone!

I really enjoyed this book. It was very compelling and difficult to put down. I liked that it was written from the perspective of the little boy. The wording took some getting used to but it all made sense in the end.

you've got my support!  Way to go on the weight loss.  45lbs is nothing to scoff at.  I know what you mean about not feeling like you've lost weight though.  I lost 60lbs a few years ago and even though my clothes were smaller, when I looked at other women that weighed the same as me, they LOOKED so much smaller.  I think that discouraged me and was part of why I gained some weight back.

I really hate running and actually can't do much of it because of back pain.  I get my cardio using an exercise bike.  Have you tried other forms of cardio?  It was much easier for me to get motivated to work out once I found the exercise bike because I actually enjoy it.  I like to work out while watching episodes of my favorite tv shows.  They are the perfect length, and I watch ones that have lots of action scenes that keep me moving.

I have about 45lbs to go to my goal weight and if you need a weight loss buddy I'm there for you.  I too want to lose weight before I start having kids.  I want people to be able to tell that I'm pregnant instead of just overweight.  Good luck and thanks for sharing your story.

Weight Loss If you eat something at 1am does it count towards the next day? Apr 19 2012

I have a weird sleep schedule so to make things easy I count from midnight to midnight. That way on days when I don't sleep very much (4 or less hours) my calories are still within normal range. I think most everyone else counts from the time they wake up to the time they go to bed. It shouldn't matter which way you do it though. Maybe try ot both ways to see which works better for you

Thanks for the tips and recipes! I should have clarified that I do eat veggies when they are cooked into things just not plain veggies. I like sweet potates but I consider potatoes more of a starch/carb than a veggie. I'm gonna try to eat my vegetables first next week and see if that works. I'm also gonna stock up on v8 light cuz that stuff is yummy and at least I'll be getting some vegetables/nutrients that way.

I can't believe its already the middle of April!  Time is just flying by.  I'm going on a two week trip to England and Ireland in June and its only 2 months away!  I'm hoping to drop another 10-15lbs by then, but I mostly want to build up my endurance so I can do all sorts of sightseeing without getting tired and sore.

This month was WAY better than last month.  I got my eating under control and my workouts have been really good.

Weight on March 16th 195lbs (BMI 29.6)

Current weight April 13th 190lbs (BMI 28.9)

Hips 45.5" (-0.5"), waist 41.5" (-1.5"), chest 39.5" (-0.5"), thigh 26" (-1"), arm 13.5" (same), calf 16.5"(same)

Good Luck Everyone!

I sleep about 8 to 8.5 hours naturally. there is aton of research about sleep and health. They have found that you should get between 6-8 hours a night. Anything less than that is considered sleep deprivation and can cause serious health problems. They have also found that sleeping more than 9 hours a day can lead to health problems.

Sounds like you have a very busy life! Are you able to sleep more on your weekends to make up for your lack of sleep during the week?

I am a sleep technologist and have LOTS of experience with insomnia, both for myself and my patients. Melatonin works pretty good and won't leave you feeling hungover the next day like other otc sleep aides. Exercise less than a few hours before bed will affect how you sleep. Your body temperature needs to cool down for you to get tired so as long as you are giving yourself enough time to relax after you workout you'l be fine.

its good that you read before bed, watching tv in bed is BAD! Like the one person said, if you can't fall asleep after 10-20 minutes get up and go to another room that is dimly lit and do something relaxing for 10 minutes then go back to bed. Repeat as often as necessary. The first few nights might be long but this works. I've done it myself. Your brain needs to associate your bed with sleeping and being relaxed, not being awake and stressed. If you still have problems a prescription sleep aide might be necessary for short term use. As long as they are used sparingly they work great and are non-addictive. Another option is a sleep study. You might have an underlying sleep disorder such as sleep apnea or restless legs, but since this has started recently I wouldn't suspect that. Good luck! I've been in your shoes and it does get better.
Weight Loss Poop! Apr 13 2012

Awesome topic! I was just thinking about this and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I drink plenty of water and get lots of fiber but I only poop every other day, less if I drink too much caffeine. It really dehydrates me. So here is my question..I weigh myself on fridays, but if I haven't gone in a few days I'll take a laxative the day before so that my weigh in is more accurate. Is there anyone else that does this?? I definitely have poop envy of those that go more than once a day.

Kelrantymus thanks for the windex tip! I don't wear my ring for a lot of things either but I think wedding rings should be worn outside the house. I know if the tables were turned he'd want me to wear mine to work.

Thanks everyone!

It sounds like some people take their rings off at work for legitimate reasons. My husband admitted it was mostly a germaphobe issue and he would wear his ring to work and take it off during those messy occasions. He does wear gloves but he is worried his ring will come off with the glove. I also found the lifetime warranty so that eased his mind about the ring getting scratched up.

He works with developmentally disabled people...no risk of losing a finger unless one bites really hard (bad joke). I honestly don't know how its getting scratched. Its mostly body fluids that he is grossed out about and rightly so. So I suggested he take the ring off and put it in his pocket before cleaning up the mess. Thanks for letting me know about construction workers though, because my initial response was "I bet construction workers wear their rings to work" I'll admit I was wrong on that point.

As for buying a cheaper ring, the rings we got were not expensive to begin with so that's not an option. If he really doesn't want to wear it I won't force him to.

I love cheerios too! The store had a sale buy 5 boxes for $10!! Got to try all different kinds. I eat a bowl of regular cheerios everyday before I work out. I save the sweet varieties for when my sweet tooth takes over. I've also started taking them to the movies for a delicious healthy snack. My husband says I look like a little kid but I don't care.

I love working out when I wake up. However I work nights so my morning workouts are at 5pm when I wake up instead of 5am most days of the week. On my weekends I usually workout after I wake up just to get it out of the way.

1. I work out 6 days a week and about 5 of those days its after I wake up. My main form of exercise is a staionary bike since I have some babck problems but I've also started walking more and I do workout videos also.

2. I have to eat something before workouts or my blood sugar gets too low and I have to stop. Its usually a bowl of cheerios.

3. I don't do any other exercise during the day usually

4. My goal is to be under 150lbs and then to maintain. I want to be healthy so me and my husband can start having kids!

5. My main motivation to get up and work out is to get it out of the way. By the time I get home from work in the morning I'm too tired to do anything
