It was so cold this morning.. I think I finally regained feeling in all of my limbs. Chrissy, that's horrible! I think some people are very ignorant. I wish I could see what they would act like if the roles were reversed. The two girls I had today did great.. It's great to see what being around horses does for the disabilities. And talking to yourself is totally okay haha it just means that you're a good listener as well.

I've been waiting for my boyfriend to get here for the past hour.. I wonder if there's traffic on the Meritt or something. I also had a Chai Tea Luna Bar that was delicious. Does anyone have any suggestions for good protein bars that aren't too high in sugar? I'm experimenting because I used to love Nature Valley Bars, but I don't feel like I get enough out of them.

Karey - Yeah, I'm really excited to see him. College is rough for long distance relationships, but it's worth it in the end. He's just staying Sat-Sun, and leaving sometime early afternoon I would imagine. In terms of plans..there's a football game, amongst other things. It's all really up in the air right now.

Chrissy - That's the reason I lurked for a few days. I didn't want to join a weight loss or weight gain group, because while I still have a little ways to go until "normalcy", I wanted an environment where maintenance and eating normally was the norm. I'm going to fight the urge and I'm going to win.

Debra - I love yoga! I took a few classes this summer and I wish I was continuing it right now... Do you know what type of yoga you're going to take?

I have to wake up in about 6 hours.. Oooph. I volunteer at a therapeutic riding center which is great. I love working with the horses and seeing the smiles on the kids' faces after their lesson is great.

Oooo Fro-yo and ice cream.. I'll have to remember that when I'm home because I absolutely love those two. We have ice cream and soft serve on campus but it's the devil because I never know how much a serving is.

I know I'm not there yet.. But I had around 1800 calories today and I feel good. I don't feel like I hate myself or that tomorrow I'm going to have to seriously compensate. I feel good. I like this feeling.

I'm also really excited because my boyfriend is coming up tomorrow and I haven't seen him in 6 weeks.

Karey - I'm happy to hear that you're able to move around! I hope you get better quickly. Progress is good though!

Laura: My routine started shifting at the end of the summer - throughout the summer my exercise was 6 miles max, but usually just 4/5. When I shifted back into college mode, I mildly freaked out since I wouldn't be able to count calories as intensely, so to compensate I pumped up the cardio. I think my mind was telling me that if I burned almost all the calories that I had eaten/would eat, then I would be fine. Clearly that was wrong. I don't know when my routine started to shift, but over the past month or so it's slowly adjusted and the past 1.5 weeks I've really made a conscious effort to change. I think it was really one night where I was upset over things and turned to google and realized that if I kept going on the path I was going on, I could end up with an ED. So, I was determined to not let myself get to that point, and even within that short time, I've noticed a big difference in myself. I really want to keep this up and stay healthy, particularly now that winter is coming and once one person on campus gets sick, EVERYONE gets sick. It's the curse of the small liberal arts school..

Chrissy: For September, it had been naturally creeping up on its own from 1200 to 1400 per day, mostly because I don't know all the nutritional information for the food in the dining hall. Now, for October, I've been between 1500-1800, sometimes dipping a bit higher. It's a slower transition, but it's so nice to go and eat good food - both tasty and healthy. I go to Wesleyan, and Psych and Theatre are just two of my interests. I've been involved with theatre for my entire life basically, and I love plays and musicals, and I've done an Indie film. I LOVE acting. Psych is something that has also appealed to me, because I was always the therapist and advice friend, and it was something I enjoyed as well. Not to mention that each of the two help each other. Psych helps me get into the character's head more, and Theatre helps me understand how different people work.

Karey: Thanks for the welcome! It really is worth it. I'm a lot happier with myself again. It feels good, and joining CC really helped me realize the difference between losing weight and being healthy. It's such a great community here. And I'm sorry that you hurt yourself.. that's never fun =/ Make sure you put your body first and heal because there's nothing worse than making it worse for the long run.

My victory today was at the gym. I did the elliptical for 33 minutes, and did 4.15 miles during that time (Most I've ever done during one 33 minute time period), and then walked/ran/sprinted on the treadmill, and got 3 miles in 30 minutes, and 10 minutes of that was just walking, so I averaged about 7:30 minute miles!

Tomorrow will be an easier workout, that's for sure..

Yeah! Quick basic things about me.. I'm 19 but I turn 20 in less than a week! I'm also a sophomore in college and I'm studying psychology and theatre, I think. That's the path that I'm on at the moment.

In terms of exercise/maintenance, the weight loss that I had wasn't big - just a few pounds that I had gained my freshman year. For me, the primary reason for joining this site was to monitor what I eat as well as eat healthier. Particularly at college, it's easy to just go the "quick" route and grab a grilled cheese or pizza, especially when some of my friends can do so with no repercussions. With the all you can eat factor added in, it had the potential for disaster (especially since the desserts are so sinfully delicious). I also want to eat healthier because high blood pressure and heart related diseases are a big thing on my mom's side of the family.

I exercise quite a bit, part for health and part for my mental sanity. It's a good way of relieving stress. I generally work out 5-6 times a week, and 3 of those days are cardio only and the other 3 are cardio & free weights. I was starting to get really intense with cardio (9/10 miles being the minimum per workout), so I've been cutting back on that. This summer I had cut back seriously on calories and started to feel bad if I let myself have a treat. I'm now realizing that it's alright to have some ice cream or a dessert, and to eat more than 1200 calories. Even within the past 2 weeks of eating more and better, I feel better.

Today, I really enjoyed my lunch.. I had a spinach salad with cucumber, red pepper and onions with balsamic vinegar with some baked chicken, a piece of whole grain toast with some black beans on it, as well as a banana.

I'm looking forward to being apart of this group and find support as well as give support.

Hey everyone! My name's Sara and I'm on the road to maintenance. I'm trying to find the balance between food and exercise, while maintaining my present state. It'd be nice to be apart of a group that's so supportive. My friends don't really understand. Some just can eat grilled cheese and ice cream at every meal and not gain an ounce, and others just eat no so well and not care. But yeah..I hope it's alright for me to come  and post with you guys.

Any sweets, especially candy or ice cream. I need to get them in small amounts because I eat what I put in front of me, so a big bowl of ice cream would be gone in an instant.

Young Calorie Counters To what extent are you girls influenced by models? Oct 14 2009

I'm affected by the media, but more by actresses. I've acted my entire life and it's my passion as well as what I would love to do with my life. So, when I see pictures of slim and toned actresses, I remind myself that I should look like that. I know they have personal trainers and nutritionists and the like, but at first glance, I can't help but feel that if I were a few pounds lighter, I would be able to be as successful as they are.

I've gotten a lot better about it and I'm coming to terms that my body is my body, and that all actresses aren't stick thin. That's what I keep in mind.

Young Calorie Counters 5'7" or 5'8" girls! What size are you? Oct 14 2009

I'm 5'8", well, most of the time. Sometimes I'm between 5'7" and 5'8", and I'm 128 and a size 2. When I was 135/136 I was a size 4, so I'm really happy to fit into my size 2 jeans again!  I also don't have very large hips and I have a rather narrow waist, so I have the illusion of curves.

Young Calorie Counters College Kids: Tired of the whole thing? Oct 12 2009

It's a relief to find other college students going through this!

For me, it's not the alcohol as much because I'm a lightweight (thankfully), so I really only need 2 drinks to put me at a good tipsy/bordering more. I also don't drink every night like a lot of students - maybe 1-2x a weekend? I can't do Wednesday Bar Night or other random nights like that.

However, in regards to food, how do you guys eat healthily while on a meal plan? That's my big problem. My dining hall has good food, mostly healthy, and I've been making good salads with grilled chicken, or getting a chicken & veggie stir fry. It's all good but I'm trying to branch out and find other options so I don't slip into the burrito line or the grilled cheese/pizza area.

13. Weight/Fitness Goal? I'm 130 right now, having lost 6 pounds this summer, and I'm trying to get down to 127. If I can't do that, I'd like to at least tone my body up as much as I can.
14. Least Favorite Household Chore? Vacuuming, definitely. Dishes & Laundry I like..
15. How did you find Calorie Count? I'd been using it unknowingly when I would plug in searches to google, and eventually I started exploring the site and decided a community like this would be great to be a part of.
16. Anything Else You'd Like To Share? I'm 5'8", but I've got a small frame I think. I was always the "skinny friend", and my friends at home don't like to hear me talk about my discomfort or my healthy eating topics, since they always complain that they're fat while they're eating deli sandwiches and huge slices of pizza and ice cream and stuff... It's hard to be around them when food is usually at the heart of an event, so I just keep silent about what I'm thinking, so it would be nice to be able to get out my thoughts so I don't drive myself crazy!
