Just buy fiber bars!

That's terrible advice.

The point is to learn how to eat real food, not rely on supplements and conveinenance junk.

I don't think it's terrible advice at all.  I found myself struggling to get fiber into my diet when I was first starting out as well.  So I began by buying fiber bars until I was able to figure out which foods worked best for me.  Now I practically OD on fiber on a daily basis and haven't bought fiber bars in over a year.  The point I was making, which I guess I should have clarified, is to make sure to get fiber in your system right now while figuring out which foods will work for you.

Do you honestly think you can go an entire lifetime without ever eating a big greasy burger and fries again? Of course not! It's life! And as long as it isn't a frequent meal of yours, then it is absolutely fine to splurge every once in a while. That's the beauty of calorie count: you aren't limited to certain foods. This isn't a diet, it's a lifestyle. So go ahead and live a little! :)

You need to incorporate strength training in your workout routine.  Try out Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, you can get it really cheap on Amazon or at Target or Walmart.  It's awesome!

Replace soda with seltzer water!  I love it so much and it's just like water.  So not only are you still getting the fizzy goodness of soda, but you're also getting the water that you need!

Hi there! I joined calorie count at 25. I was 5'5 and 177 lbs when I joined but my highest weight was around 185 a year or so before. So I can completely relate to your struggles. I'll be more than happy to help you in any way I can!

PB2 is the best... ever.

You need to get your tastebuds checked.

No one in their right mind would willingly choose that powdered, processed garbage over the real thing.

Hmm... I'm not quite sure how to interpret your response. Although it comes across as being rather judgmental, I won't jump to any conclusions because this is the internet and it's difficult to interpret someone's tone, so I'm hoping that wasn't your intention.  Just to clarify, I actually do prefer the taste and the texture of PB2 over regular peanut butter.  The texture, depending on the amount of water you add, is grainy and similar to hummus: another food that I love. And the taste, to me at least, tastes just like roasted peanuts.  I don't believe there is anything wrong with me because I prefer this food.

I'd  like to reiterate that this should be a place where opinions are able to be shared with one another without the fear of judgement. I think many of us, throughout our day to day lives, feel more than enough judgement from others in the real world, so CC has become a sort of safe haven. I think it's imperative that we maintain that environment here at CC by acknowledging differing opinions in a more constructive way.

It happens to EVERYONE.  Don't beat yourself up over it, seriously.  You'll be fine.  Just refocus on the present and what you can do now and don't dwell on the past.  You've GOT this! Wink

I think what it all comes down to is other peoples' unhappiness with themselves.  They become jealous of the happiness and new outlook on life that you've developed!  Do NOT let it bring you down!  And thank you so much!  I know for a fact you will be there before you even know it!

Unfortunately, out in the real world where most people seem to lack to the motivation, they just see it as bragging.  Fortunately though, you can talk about it as much as you'd like here on CC because you know that we ALL want to talk about it and see other peoples' success stories!  So brag on girl!  You've done fantastic so far!  Smile

Weight Loss My first plateau Oct 20 2011
17:00 (UTC)

I hit a plateau at the EXACT same weight as you!  What I did was drink A LOT of water every day (more than 64 oz), REALLY focused on my calories and maintaining a defecit of 400 - 600 calories per day, and worked out (cardio and/or strength training) for an hour 3 - 4 times a week.

Another thing that I have been doing for a while now is NOT weigh myself weekly, instead I focus on monthly weigh ins.  When you get down close to your goal weight, the weight comes off a little more slowly, so that's why I focus on weighing in monthly rather than seeing what happens from week to week.

I have lost close to 40 lbs since January, and the thing that I have become the most frustrated with is EVERYONE assuming I'm losing weight for my upcoming wedding in July of 2012.  I began losing weight PRIOR to even becoming engaged; in fact I had lost 20 lbs before I had even gotten engaged!  It's very frustrating that people assume I'm losing weight just so I can look good in pictures.  They don't realize that I'm doing it to make myself happier, HEALTHIER, and more confident!

If you tripped going up the stairs, would you throw yourself the rest of the way down and give up the idea of going upstairs?  No, you'd pull yourself together and begin again.  Everybody, everybody, everybody has a bad weekend.  Forgive yourself, and start anew.  How good it feels to know that even though you had a couple of bad days, it's not the end of your journey.  It's a hiccup.  Feel good about knowing which choices were bad and why.  Next time you'll remember feeling so undone by circumstances.  Maybe you'll do better, maybe you won't, but you'll keep trying.  Good job!

Absolutely LOVED this response. VERY well said bbethrobins!!
