I like berry and lemon/apple. The berry one is 2c strawberries (trim the tops!) 2c blueberries and 1 1/2c raspberries Lemon/apple is 2 apples (skin on)1 lemon (I just use the segments) and a 1" piece of ginger. I got a cold and my best friend recommended the lemon/apple one and I just fell in love with it lol. |

I'd say advertise for a personal chef if you've got the money. Basically anything pre-packed is going to be high in something and lacking somewhere else and honestly won't do you much of a favor. Otherwise, I guess you can do pre-cut fruit and veg from the store and repack it into snack portions. I know they sell smaller containers but I think the larger party trays would be more cost effective. I do a lot of cook ahead meals and crockpot cooking. The cook ahead is great for nights that we're pressed for time and would otherwise get take out and the crock pot does all the hard work since I can just set that and forget it. I can't tell you how much stress that takes off my shoulders in football season with 3 cheerleaders and a football player in the house! If you'd like any recipes, let me know! Wish I could be more help since it's pretty much pre-packed = unhealthy in some manner Also! I just thought of this! Our grocer sells pre-packed meals like kabobs that are already assembled and you just have to cook them, or stuffed peppers already assembled that also require cooking. I think that'd be healthier then the pre-done diet foods and the prep time is taken out for you

Yikes. Could not agree with the bold in OP more. I can't imagine not checking out someone that the kids were going to be with. Family, I trust.... other than that, let's just say I'm the "wack job" that did a full background check and had potential nannies drug tested. Or at least that's what some of the ones that didn't pass my screening process called me. Ah the joys of having lived in a smaller town =) But I think it comes more into my kids being my whole world and other people having priorities that are "higher" up than their kids. |

Totally rude and really needs to be fixed. Just had a family party where my kids were running around playing games in the sun and other family members had their kids parked on gizmos. It's ironic that my kids are the older ones so the 3-10 range was on the gadgets but so were the parents. Yes there's a 3 yr old in the family with an ipad. Do not get me started. My kids have their own cells/ds/etc. They were allowed in the car and left there during the party. At grandparents time we do the same. With my grandparents we all watched tv together so my kids do that also. I think having an anti-electronic gizmo policy on other family things (like camping) helped my kids with this to be honest. |

I'd say find a compromise. or as another poster mentioned don't wear yours and see if that gets the point across if it still really does bother you. I didn't wear mine when I was on the shop floor on active duty but that safety policy was really firmly enforced after someone forgot to tape theirs off with electrical tape. Wasn't pretty. My husband had a job that he was able to wear his without issues at work so we had the reverse I guess. But we had the compromise that I put it on my dog tags (since those come off on the shop floor too) and those got locked in my desk. If I wasn't on the floor I didn't take it off. Now it's just situational stuff like planting flowers or working on the cars where we don't wear them. Scuba diving for him. Stuff like that. We've got a few friends that do the "cheap" or more rugged ring for work and the "nice" one for going out and regular wear. Not sure if it would help but it's always worth putting on the table if you go for a compromise. Good luck! |

Week 1 - Apr 09: 185.4 Apr 13: ---- Change: ---- Start Weight for challenge: 185.4 Today's Weight for challenge: 185.4 Overall change for challenge: ----
I don't know what else to eat or not eat since it's all whole grains, brown rice, chicken, turkey, very little red meat... veg... water. Everything you're supposed to do. Don't think it's possible to plateau this early (is it?) or maybe it's getting off meds that were making me gain so I'm just stuck now and weight will start coming off. I don't know. Fishing for answers. Just glad I have this group to work with and I'm hopeful someone might have a tip or trick I don't know about! I know next week will be better and this is just baby steps again in the beginning. Sorry for being kinda meh this week everyone. Family holiday messed me up and my husband goes in for surgery tomorrow so I guess the stress is just getting to me. If anyone can spare some good thoughts and prayers I'd appreciate. |

^^this. The prozac literally made me feel like the walls were closing in when I was in my "safe" zone inside the house. Couldn't walk down a hallway without practically jumping out of my skin. Some meds work, some don't .. some lose their edge as you get used to them. Just don't give up. Even if you don't do a traditional 'program' for cbt if you have a person you trust that can work with you slowly it helps a lot. I remember starting to panic in the car once, my aunt was driving and we were going on an outing with the kids. She had to yell at me to knock it off and wouldn't turn around... I was pretty much bawling and yelling at myself inside because I was angry it was going to ruin plans. I had to walk around a few minutes doing that motivating self talk "You're ok, you can do this" etc and I was able to relax and go pick strawberries with the kids. It wasn't easy, but remembering tells me how far you can come with anxiety. That day was one of my first victories in the anxiety battle. I used deep breathing with a cd to help calm down just in general and when I was getting tense and I could feel an attack starting I learned to squash it (like the evil bug it is) as time went on. If you ever need me I'm always on here. Hang in there |

If you think it's the meds leveling out then I would talk to your doctor and see what they can do to either increase or augment what you're currently on. It's hard to write about but I went through two med changes (prozac to hydroxazine) until we got something that worked (zoloft) and then had to go through dosage increases to keep me from having a panic attack as time ticked by. I ended up adding in abilify for 3 months and I was able to go from 3x a day med maintenance so as a med wore off I wouldn't start to get panicky to zero meds at all. Over a year I was on 5 meds for anxiety, 3 at once so it's a process. I got to where I could Not leave my house, even to go to the mailbox 20 feet out the door so to be honest it was bad. I was on xanax if I had an attack or as a pre-attack fighter when I Had to go to the Dr, or to another appointment (i.e. something for one of the kids) and I hated it and almost hated myself for not being able to do something before it got worse. There were times I wouldn't take it and I'd feel tense the whole time but it got easier over time to just suck it up for some reason. I think the repeated exposure being away from the house helped as well. I wish, especially for anxiety, that there was a magic answer for everyone because it's something really hard to live with. But it is the practice of medicine so sometimes just a few tweaks here or there help get things back where they need to be. It's good that you're checking in for help because that's a sign of a strong person so I know you'll beat it.

Is there a trigger you're aware of? Certain situations or places or just out of the blue? For stress, you can deep breathe. Try counting. Visualization helps too. I know it sounds silly but I had a therapist tell me to assign the stress/anxiety a color, smell, touch, etc to make it "real" and then picture it in my head and put it into a box, lock the box up, and put it way high up on a shelf I can't reach. I get stressed when driving over bridges so they have me do breathing and squeeze the wheel for 4 counts while breathing in and then loosen up my fingers and breath out 4 counts. It helped a lot and now for the big ones it really does help also. If you ever need to talk or anything I'm always here. I got to a point I was agoraphobic and needed to go on meds to resume a normal life so I really like to be there for others dealing with anxiety so they don't get where I did. |

| Weight Loss | Intermittent fasting anyone? | Apr 04 2012 01:24 (UTC) |

Were you going to just stop period or drink teas/water/clear liquids? Personally I thought it was going to set me up to binge which is why I never really attempted, so call me curious. I'd researched fasting and saw that a lot of people had results when following a plan and making sure they were checking in with their doctor, but, those fasts seemed longer term vs intermittent like you're looking at. Wishing you luck if you do go forward! |

Look at the famous people today. So many are rail thin and it gets hammered home that skeletal is how we are supposed to look. Even folks that are thin and perfectly healthy can feel inadequate seeing that and the "right" ways where we are eating to live and take care of ourselves lose weight and keep it off that take time to really "See" the results aren't what they want. Look at the celebs out there who have those "reveal" photos post baby who have private chefs, trainers, nannies and a ton of support staff working with them to hit that goal. Of course they're doing it but surely they gain back and get in that yo yo cycle. |

Are you following any diabetic restrictions or do you still eat foods that you shouldn't? We have trouble with my mom and corn and pastas so we really have to be vigilant in watching her. Are you sitting mostly during the day or are you up and doing things? I park far out at the grocery store, walk to the park with the kids vs driving (it's a mile) and make excuses to run up and down my stairs more than I have to during the day. I'm probably going to restart counting my steps daily since that's kinda a fun way to get extra exercise without really pushing yourself too hard.
