One thing I'd suggest is to ask your mom if she can buy a healthier cereal such as bran flakes or Uncle Sam cereal. I've found that if you put 3/4 junky cereal with 1/4 Uncle Sam, it's MUCH more filling. I can't eat more than a serving's worth when I combine them, which is great! |

I really haven't lost any weight since July, been hovering between 154 and 157, but I AM losing inches. I've lost 3 inches so far this month since I started using my Gazelle. I have a feeling that my body is just playing catch up at this point and I'll eventually start seeing my weight drop. |

Splenda, Cherry Coke Zero and Diet Dr Pepper are the only "fake" foods I go out of my way to eat. Don't eat fat free pringles since the orange oil incident... |

It's been so quiet here the last week! Everyone must be really busy. I worked out for about half an hour yesterday and felt really good about it. I'm going to take a nap, but when I wake up... it's workout time! I really love my Gazelle :) |

Last week: 155.8 This week: 155.1 I'll take it! I've seen numbers as high as 158 this past week, so it's great to see it go back down. Today is my husband and my first wedding anniversary, so I'm not counting calories today. I'm just going to relax and enjoy my day :) |

Oh I know the feeling, jennelaw! I had a craving for my mom's homemade beef stew for several weeks and it didn't go away until she made some. Oh man, I haven't been so satisfied in MONTHS. It hit the spot. I'm like you, I don't really eat much meat, so it was a really strange craving. |

I did my first workout today, and it FLEW BY! I watched TV while exercising, so even though I was sweating bullets, it seemed a lot more fun. I'm feeling the effects of my housework yesterday. Achy all over! But it feels good to exercise again! |

Tomorrow starts day 1 of my (imposed by me) 30 day trial on my Gazelle. My husband and I decided to really test it out together. Each of us will spend at least 20 minutes a day, five days a week for the next four weeks. We weighed and measured each other today so I'm excited to see if it actually works for us. I tried it out tonight and it seemed really fun! I couldn't keep going, though, because I've been going going going since like 2pm (it's now 10:42pm) doing housework and moving furniture. I got a LOT of stuff done that I've been putting off for MONTHS. Basically half the time we've been living here in WA (since late March). I'm such a wuss :P I KIND OF finished my blanket. I ran out of yarn without actually having the size I wanted, and the store sold out of the yarn and won't be getting it back. SO, I'll have to shell out a bit extra to get a complimentary color, but I can't afford it right now. The good news is, it's plenty big enough that it covers all of my husband's legs, feet, and part of his abdomen (he's almost 6'). We slept with it for the first time last night and let me tell you, that's some good stuff! We couldn't even feel that there was an extra blanket on the bed, but it was as warm as if we each had our own plushy throw blankets that we'd been using. That made all my hassle TOTALLY worth it. |

Hey all! I forgot to weigh myself this morning, so I'll have to do so tomorrow. I started logging my calories now that I'm over my sickness. No more excuses! I ordered a Gazelle (you know, the one you've seen on infomercials, but I got it somewhere else for a really good deal). I've seen some good reviews on it and think that it could be what I need to get motivated to actually exercise. If not, eh... 30 day money back guarantee! It should get here on Tuesday, so I'm looking forward to that. I was bummed out a couple days ago because I had to completely start over the blanket I was making because of a mistake in my calculation of measurement. I somehow managed to make the thing 40" too wide! If I had kept knitting, I would've run out of yarn and only had 3/4 of the length I wanted (it's a square)! Lame, but since it's a lot shorter in width, it's going a lot faster. I've already completed about the same length as I did before in 2 days as opposed to 6. I'm optimistic that I'll get it done in another 3. |

Hey all, sorry for my absence this week. I got sick so I've mostly been in bed. No calorie counting (but I guess I've probably been eating around 2200 cals a day), no exercise, and yet I've managed to maintain my weight. Go figure! I'm on the mend now, though, so I'm going to try eating a bit better. |

nikidust: I'm using Suri Dream Yarn in Lilac Heather. It was on clearance so I jumped on the deal! It's soooo soft and warm, fuzzy without being tickly or prickly. If it were a food, it would be YUMMY! By the way, your scarf looks gorgeous so far. Lovely :) As far as the weight loss goes... you're doing a great job. Better to maintain than be like me and gain back 27lbs in less than 2 years! I hope I can stick with it like you have. I know I never want to get as heavy as I was EVER AGAIN! Slow and steady wins the race, as they say :) |

Original Post by nikidust: You've caught the bug! I'm currently in the middle of a gorgeous fuzzy lavender afghan for my bed. It's so satisfying to finish a project. The materials cost me $30, but they will totally be worth it in the end. I have to take frequent breaks with it because I get too warm! This yarn I got from knitpicks.com is super light but extremely warm. Their description of it was something like, "Light as a feather and warm as a down comforter" which is not too far from the truth. Fantastic loss! One small step that will lead to a world of possibilities. How on earth did you stick with it for a year and a half with such slow weight loss? That's willpower, girl! The scarf sounds beautiful. Can't wait to see pictures! dina: Congrats on the weight loss! Great job. And good luck on getting a regimen going :)
salsalindy: Sorry you've been feeling so bad, but congrats on the loss! I hope you start feeling better. It's no fun being sick. I know, I've been fighting back against some sort of sickness that started popping up a few days ago. Luckily, I've been able to rest a lot since I started getting a little itchy in my throat, so I've kept it at bay for the most part.
I'm down to 155.7, which is -0.4 from last week but +1.1 from two weeks ago. Since I've started getting sick, I've made getting better my priority and I'm suspending my calorie counting until I feel better. I did exercise a bit yesterday, surprisingly. I know it seems weird to be exercising while sick, but it actually made me feel a bit better. It's been a while since I really exercised hard, though. |

I was BAD yesterday. Bad bad bad bad bad! Chocolate cake, spinach dip with sourdough bread, chili with cheese, peanut m&ms, chips and dip, oh my! I had over 2100 cals and I feel gross today. Not because I feel bad about myself for eating all that, I was a good girl all week (stayed well under my 1400 cal limit EVERY SINGLE DAY!) and was "saving up" for it. No, I woke up this morning feeling bloated and so tired I felt like I was drugged. I'm just glad I didn't get a tummy ache! I'm starting my day off with a big glass of water to help get the bloating down and I'll be taking it easy as far as food goes. Strangely, I kind of am craving exercise today. I think I'll power up the Wii and play Wii Fit! |

I don't get it. This past week I've been eating more vegetables, less junk food, less calories and yet I'm up a pound and a half. Consider my mind boggled. |

I'm inexplicably up to 156.1 which is 1.5lbs up from last week. Argh. What the heck?! Most of the days in the last week I was eating only 1200 cals a day!! |

Hello everybody! I just wanted to pop in and see how y'all are doing. I'm doing pretty well, just getting some reading in today. I'm waiting for some special knitting needles I ordered to come in the mail so I can get started on my blanket! I got the yarn for it yesterday and it is SO SOFT. It's going to be like sleeping with a cloud. |

Original Post by moonikins: My Mom didn't fix her Chihuahua because of religious reasons (prohibited unless the dog's immediate health is at risk) until a couple years ago when the vet told him he had an enlarged prostate. Once he was neutered, it returned to normal and most of his health problems from that vicinity disappeared. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HIV#Routes_of_Tr ansmission When I worked at McDonald's there was an OCD guy that thought that if he shook a man's hand who had a cut on it, he would get HIV. It doesn't work like that, and the likelihood that you got AIDS/HIV from a sip of slurpee is pretty dang slim. Stop freaking out! What good does it do to freak out? Nothing! In fact, you may start experiencing "symptoms" if you obsess on it. Calm down and you'll be fine. |

nikidust: I'm FINALLY getting the hang of proper tension. It just sort of came to me yesterday even though I've been knitting for a week. I had sloppy edges, sloppy middle, sloppy everything but I'm finally figuring out how to keep it tidy. Knitting is HARD to learn but once you've figured it out you can have a lot of fun. I have a dozen different ideas floating in my head but I don't have the money to get the yarn I need right now, BUMMER! It would be great for you and your mom to learn together. tod: Don't be ashamed about taking a break! Real life happens and you can't expect to be perfect. Perfection is EXHAUSTING! wbbuff: I'm the same way! This was the first year since I was little (probably 6 or 7) that I wore any kind of shorts. Bermudas are my new summer best friend. erikaams5: Isn't it nice to be able to treat yourself? I love mushrooms, but I've never tried stuffed ones. Also, CONGRATS on getting rid of the cellulite! I have such troubles in my thighs but the dang stuff is hereditary. Every single one of my female family members that I know of have it. Even my sister Nicky who's 5'1" and only weighs 105lbs! It's tricky stuff and I'm glad you were able to say goodbye :D jennelaw: Great deal at Old Navy! I hope your new meds work out. Didn't keep to my promise of no cookies. Blah. BUT(!) I have been keeping my calories low despite them. I've been thinking lately that as soon as I can afford it, I'm going to go see a doctor about some problems I've been having for a few years. For the last, I'd say 6 or 7 years, I've had fatigue, vertigo (feeling like the room is spinning), and lightheadedness along with nausea pretty regularly. 3 years ago, I had bloodwork done a few years back but it didn't turn up anything unusual. It was suggested to me that I may have inner ear problems but I never actually went to see a specialist. But more and more, I'm pretty convinced that it is a problem with my inner ear. For about a year now, if I hear loud noises, inside my left ear it feels (and sounds) like a cotton ball is being shoved in my eat. Sometimes the feeling doesn't go away for several minutes. It's really bad since my dad likes to talk very loudly (it bothers me so much that I've stopped conversing with him for the most part since he won't stop shouting even when I ask him to). I just hope it's something that can be fixed. I hate being dizzy all the time :( |
