You need to eat at least 1,200 calories a day to keep you metabolism going.  Only eating 500 calories a day will make your body think it is starving and will store every calorie.

Calorie Count New Recipe Analyzer May 29 2012

I am not happy with the new recipe analyzer.  It is analyzing my recipe ingredients as per serving rather than dividing the total calories by how many servings it is made for.

If I put in a cookie recipe that has 36 servings.  The recipe analyzer is calculating my cookie recipe as 1 serving.

Hi! I am 42 years old, 5'1" and weigh 176 pounds.  Calorie Count's goal wants me to weigh 116 pounds, but my realistic goal is 140.  I started CC January 9, 2012.

I have date goals for each 10 pounds I want to lose:

February 27th:  -12 pounds to date

April 27th: -10 pounds for a family visit

June 19th: -10 pound for a summer party where I have seen people since last year.

(I will add more goals as time moves on)

Having these goals help me to keep on track realistically and give myself a reward of a new outfit for each event, but only if I can fit into a smaller size.

I stay very dedicated and honest by entering everything I eat on the food log even down to the butter I use on vegies.  Since I cook almost all my meals, I love the recipe analyzer CC has.  I can input all my recipes and it calculates the calories and grade.

Weight Loss Vacation and Eating Well. Can we succeed? Feb 20 2012

Great Ideas! Thank you.

I know our room has a small kitchenette with a small fridge and microwave.  I plan on picking up breakfast and lunch foods that are healthy and along with saving some money.

I know it will be hard to try and eat low calorie healthy foods when we go out, but I will have my husband "help" and remind me.

This is going to be an all friend's vacation and these friends like to drink.  I want to let them know that I will keep it to just one during the day.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/metabolism/W T00006

This webpage is from the Mayo Clinic and describes how your body burns calories.

You need to burn 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound.  If you want to lose 1 pound each week, you need to burn 500 more calories than you consume.

This is how I understand it:

From what you stated:

Consumption -  Metabolic Rate - Extra Calories Burned  = Total Calories Burned

1,020 - 2,200 - 89 = Net Calories -1,269

They state for a healthy weight loss you should eat at least 1,200 calories a day.

I also live in a cold state, plus I don't want to pay for club memberships.  I was lucky enough to receive a free treadmill, but I have also seen some cheap ones on Craig's List.

I have been working out the Gunnar Peterson's Core Secrets DVD's.  These DVD's are from 10 years ago, but are still effective.  You can find them on Amazon for cheap.  I use 3 different 45 minute workouts during the week and then use his 20 minute Bun Battle or Ab Assault.  He even has 20 & 25 minute full body workout DVD's if you don't have time.  You will need hand weights and a stability ball.

I am looking forward for the weather to warm up so I can get back on my bike or take some hikes.

Thanks for this post, as I was reading through everyone's posts, I have found some new ideas as well!

Good Luck!

Not All Processed Foods Are Created Equal
Fact: a diet containing whole, fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the best for a healthy mind and body. Although true, it can be hard to keep food fresh at home for longer periods of time, and if you have no time to shop every few days, boxed and canned foods become appealing. We often hear about heavily processed frozen dinners and processed foods worth avoiding, but there are minimally processed foods that do pack a lot of nutrition and may be worth having in the fridge or cupboard.
