I can say with proud that I'm a runner. I run 5days a week now. Just like you I could run kilometers but I stopped because I didn't have enough time anymore. So when I started again few months ago, I swear I couldn't even last 10minutes. It was though and discouraging. FORTUNATELY, it does get better and better. You will have to do it by babysteps (great advice devilish_patsy). Start by walking first, then mix running/walking and finally you will be able to run. Last advice, keep a diary (just like calorie counting). Always mark, how long you walked or ran and how far you were able to go. Increase the time and or the distance carefully. PS: About.com (home of calorie count) has a dedicated fitness website about walking and running. You should be able to find it easily. That website has PLENTY of great tips about jogging. |

First of all, that's a great combo. Swimming is manly cardio and when you add weight lifting, you'll have a great body and a great heart. If you are overweight, you'll get muscles definition by losing the extra pounds. And if you are not overweight, you are very likely to see your muscles get bigger. But you have to eat right, make sure you are getting enough protein and resting (at least one day of full body recovery). Good luck |

I'm gonna repeat everyone else. Count the calories. You might be very surprised. I started my weight loss when I was 226pounds. After a week, I was able to loose few pounds by a 1000cals deficit a day. Count the calories, add some weight lifting and you'll see the results |

I think you already know that this plan is not realistic. Dont let the gossip magazines fool you. But I really encourage you to eat healthy and exercise. You might not loose 20pounds but I assure you, you are going to feel AMAZING and ENERGIZED for your vacation. Believe me, exercise is what give us energy and peace of mind. |

First of all, I second what jp5074139 had to say. I can see lots of issues with you. You were not eating enough food. Dieting is not starving yourself. You only have one body, so for godsake please take good care of it. You also need to change your mindset about losing weight. For me, it should be a new lifestyle not a food restriction. I'm losing weight while enjoying the food that I love. You can find many articles and advices that will help you control your food intake and will help you eating well (introduce fresh produce and fruits to your diet and you'll start on the right path. For me, apples are very very fullfilling and comparing to any other snacks, they taste better and are lower in calories.) Finally, I think if you want to keep your high BMR and loose weight, you'll have to have a lot of discipline with yourself and your body and eat at your maintenance while exercising (maybe you should do activities that will burn between 500 and 1000cals for a 1-2 pounds weight loss per week.) Sorry to be a little harsh, I'm just giving my opinion and just trying to help. Good luck. |

From my experience, the closer you get to your target the harder it is to loose the remaining weight. After plateauing, I upped my calorie intake closer to maintenance and I changed my workout routine. I increased the difficulty level and added more outdoor activities. I don't know anything about diet pills, a small or medium apple 1 hour before working out always gives me the energy that I need for my workout. Good luck. |

I aggree with Shane. 700cals is extremely low and is very likely to damage your body in the long run. Put all your stats on calorie counts. It will take you a minute and you'll have the right amount of calories to eat everyday. Remember a healthy weight loss rate from 0.5 to 2 pounds a week. Doctors recommend to aim for 1% of your current weight (1.3 pound for you). Good luck. |

| Weight Loss | After some advice | Mar 30 2010 19:09 (UTC) |

First of all, I can relate to your situation. I stayed 2 weeks without loosing anything. Then I got frustrated and started eating at my maintenance then I lost 2 pounds (miracle??) and now I'm back to my usual routine and I'm loosing again. My advice would be to take a week off just to jump start your body, still dont eat very fattening foods and keep going to the gym maybe twice during that week. Bring new foods to your diet. Try new produces, new flavors and maybe a new workout routine. Good luck |

| Weight Loss | Do you add vitamins to your diet? | Mar 29 2010 15:11 (UTC) |

Thank you all so much. I also found out that lots of companies are not required to list the amount of potassium and some other nutrients provided by their foods. I think I'll follow your advice and do a blood test instead of buying vitamins or supplements without a prescription. Thank you |

I don't want to unmotivate you or something but I think 13 pounds in one month for someone who weights 153 is very unrealistic. A healthy diet goal would be around 6 pounds. I know that seems low but it's huge. For someone of your weight, it will make a big difference. And you wont be disappointed when you realize that you wont be loosing 13 pounds in 4 weeks. The pill is useless and somewhat dangerous (multiple side effects), you only need exercise and healthy eating. You'll have a good stamina and you will feel amazing at the end of the month. |

I know for sure that all the sugar free/diet soda are high in sodium. You can read that on the back of the can. And sodium increases the risks for high blood pressure, heart problem, blood circulation etc... and it also retains lots of water on your body (thing you might see on the scale) I enjoy 1 can of a diet soda once a week and I make sure that my sodium intake is very low that day before enjoying it. Finally, you can switch your diet soda with a home maid vegetable juice! |

It's very very stupid. Dieting isn't killing or starving yourself. By creating a 500cals deficit on your foods and exercising regulary, you'll lose pounds and you'll feel extremely good in your mind and body. Thus you will have the best time at your concert. And believe me, people will not even look at you. They will be looking at the stars on the stage (they paid top money to see them not you). |

When this happens to me, I do exactly what agana said: a cup of hot tea (zero calorie) or drink some water and relax (the binge has been already done and there is nothing we can do about it.) To avoid it, I usually have a healthy snack (a cereal bar or greek yogourt are my favorites) even when dinner is an hour later. |

I know that in the US, companies are allowed to a 5cals error. As one already said, the weight might not be 100% accurate but there is no need to freak out. The only thing I think you need to look very closely is the sodium that they add on your canned vegetables. |
