Me too!!! I've always wondered about this as well. I usually end up putting things in raw also, then adding butter/olive oil/etc. Sometimes the calorie count on calorie count is messed up!!! Thanks for clearing it up everyone!

Thanks for the replies! It's always nice to hear that there are other people having (kind of) the same experiences as you are! I was munch yesterday, but still ate healthfully. I did have to take the day off from working out though, my freakin legs were so sore! I'd upped what I normally lift in the weights class! I figured that a break was deserved!

I really appreciate everyones replies! Good luck to all!

Thanks so much everyone! I went ahead and just compared my packaging to the fresh salmon category, and it was pretty much on so I used that! I didn't have time to manually enter last night, but usually I do that if there is a large discrepency.

ilovemj909....LOL that's hilarious! I love the show 30 Rock and there is an episode where Tina Fey's character dates a super hot guy but he's really dumb, so he makes her salmon with orange gatorade and thinks it's wonderful!!!!!LOL so hilarious!

For me, not for everyone, but for me there are a few things I just have to fit into my calorie allotment and real cheese is one of them.  I'm leery of "low calorie" cheese because cheese by definition is high calorie, so what the heck am I eating?  I'm the same with salad dressing.  Fat free blue cheese dressing?  What the ick is that made out of?

This.  And, as someone else said, using grated or shredded cheeses really helps with portion control.

Hi everyone! This week was a good week, I hit the gym, played lots of Dance Central and ate well.

SW:158

CW: 156.5

GW: 150 (for now, I'm going to make small goals!)

Yay! I lost half a pound and I am feeling better about myself! It's amazing how eating good foods and working out can make such a difference!

Goals for this week: make veggie soup on Sunday, work out at least 4 days, and I'm going to try something new this week.....if I snack after dinner (around 7) I'm gonna eat only fruits or veggies.

Hope everyone else is doing well! Good luck this week!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I did eat, some almonds and some crackers and drank more water. I appreciate those who were understanding and kind. Sometimes it is difficult to want to ask a question on this site because of the attitude and tone of some of the replies. I should be back on track today, I feel fine this morning, so I can get back on track!

Weight Loss "Fat people crowding the Gym" Jan 06 2011

Here's the thing.....while YES, the comment is EXTREMELY rude, there is a valid point. For those of us who frequent the gym all year long, it does become tiresome to deal with this huge influx of people who do several very annoying things. Not using equipment correctly, not following time limits, walking slow in the marked fast lane ,asking me for advice while I'm trying to get my workout in, etc. So while the phrasing and tone of the comment is no doubt very immature and hurtful, the idea still remains.

I am always happy to see others succeed and I am more than happy to see people bettering themselves. I just wish that others would understand that it is okay to ask the gym staff for help and we are all trying to better ourselves, and we must remain courteous to one another while doing it.

Okay, I weighed this morning and surprisingly after a booze/snack filled NY Eve party,  I'm down 1 lb! So, my stats are

5'4 F 29 y.o

SW/CW: 157 lbs.

GW: 145 lbs.

Tomorrow I make veggie soup for the week and I just got Dance Central for the Kinect, so I think me and the kiddies/hubby are gonna bust that out tonight! :)

Good luck everyone!!!

I'd like to join. I too am having a horrible time losing so I want to restructure and hopefully lose! With the sodium filled snacks and TTOM for me too, I am bloaty, cranky and just feeling gross. I have also not done a real workout for over 2 weeks since I was sick with a cold then the holiday hit and that was that! I know, excuses, excuses. BUT! I am ready to get back on track. I will weigh in on NY Day, but here are my stats currently

5'4  158 lbs.

GW: 148 lbs.

PLAN: Workout at least 1 hour every day weather it's a class at the gym/running (not till it's nice out tho!)/Wii or Kinect workout/etc.....  Start more clean eating and cut back on eating out (no more than 1x week). Make a batch of veggie soup each Sunday and freeze it for the weeks lunches.

Let's do this!!!

well, it puts it as beans reguardless of how I enter it. I've tried writing it several different ways and it always kicks it back saying the 1400. What are those numbers in parenthesis and how would I enter it into a recipe?

Thanks for the response!

I am a coffee lover for sure. We actually own and run a coffee business with my hubby's parents! Sooo....

Stevia is better FOR sure. Even my hubby will use it and he HATES the flavor of Splenda or aspartame. Truvia is what we use.

We also make our own syrups....it's a simple sugar syrup 1:1 ratio with 1 tsp of whatever extract you wish....you can buy vanilla and caramel pretty cheap. This recipie can also be made with splenda. I've not yet tried it with Truvia, however. It is wonderful and cost effective.

As for the creaminess....look for fat free half and half at the supermarket. I'm not sure who your main dairy producer is, but around here it is Darigold and they do make a fat free half and half. It's fabulous. I drink a pot of coffee myself every morning, nice and creamy and flavorful for around 70 calories (ff halfnhalf is 10 cal per tbsp)

Let me know when you find you love it!!! :)

Fitness How would you log this? Jun 23 2010

Thanks for the replies people! I logged it last night as calisthenics but had previously logged it as weight training low/moderate effort. But I'm pretty sure that I work much harder then the amount of calories that says. So I was wanting to switch it up and try to be more accurate. I wavered between circuit training and calisthenics, but as Kassay said, there isn't really any cardio. I definitly get my heart rate up and sweat enough to soak my clothes, but it doesn't have that cardio feel, ya know?!

I really appreciate the help!!!

Popchips. They are faboosh. I love, love, love potato chips. These are like half(I'm guessing) the fat, calories and sodium.  They come in regular salted, sour cream and chive (my fav!) and BBQ.

Hello all! Yay, I lost .5 lbs!! My weight today is 154.5 AND I lost .25 in on my biceps, 1 in on ribs,  and .25 in on my navel!!! And it's TTOM, so I'm sure i'm a little bloated so YAAAAYYYY MEE!!

I hope everyone else did well too!!!

No poundage loss this week :( but I have lost another half inch (each) on my bust and ribs, navel and waist.....it's frustrating to not see a weight drop, but nice to see measurement drops. I know that I should be excited about this, but I must be honest and say that I am disappointed/frustrated about not seeing a drop in my weight. :(

I hope everyone's week went well!!! Good luck this week ladies!!

You should have someone take your measurements. If you're working out intensely you will be gaining muscle, and you have to remember that muscle weighs more than fat. I had the same experience earlier this year when I was losing weight, but I had lost several inches. Don't lose hope! Also, I agree with the other responses, you should be eating more calories and make sure you are drinking water. Best of luck!

THis is not accurate. A pound is a pound is a pound.

As a few others have said, your muscles do retain water when increasing the workouts. That, compounded with not eating enough for your age will stop your weight loss. your body is trying to protect itself. It does seem counter intuitive, but you should eat more to lose! Add in GOOD calories, veggies and fruits, whole grains and lean proteins. Good Luck!!!

I know you said you'd like to workout at home, but try fitting in a class or two a week at your gym rather then always running on the treadmill. They can be really fun and the hour goes by quickly! Some of my favorites are Zumba, TurboKick (it's like kickboxing and dancing put together!) and a Cardio Interval class that my gym offers. They give you a change of pace, a nice way to just let loose and have fun and I always walk out of there soaking in sweat!! Good luck with everything!!!

I know exactly what you are dealing with, I worried about this too but here are a few things I found to help

1. If you have access/membership to Costco....buy the produce you eat a lot of there, it can be much cheaper.

2. As some one mentioned, make soups. They are super healthy and freeze well.

3. Make large amounts of your favorite meals and freeze them in individual serving sizes....voila....fresh, homemade frozen meals minus the cost and sodium! :)

4. Instead of vitamin water or other beverages, use fresh fruits in a pitcher of water for yummy alternative. You can also use those fruits in a smoothie later on!

These, along with some others suggestions such as not eating out, frozen veggies, not buying "diet" foods also help! Hope this helps!
