I normally eat about 1300cals plus anything I've worked off so on a day that I'm just sitting at the computer all day I'll eat about 1300cals but if I go to the gym and burn another 300cals then I'll eat 1600cals.

No my diet changed quite dramatically I now eat lots of fruit and vegetables, I don't eat much bread or rice as I can eat more vegetables than I can rice and I prefer to do that and stay full for longer Smile

I disagree my sugar intake and carbohydrate intake is always very high as I eat allot of fruit and Vegetables, I read part of that link and it states that Glucose feeds cancer not Fructose (found in fruits) so even though my sugar and Carbohydrate intake is high I still have a very nutritious diet.

I wouldn't say I've lost the taste for anything, I still like everything I used to eat I just don't eat it as much.

I used to hate vegetables before my diet and now the majority of my dinners consists of them, I love Broccoli, Cauliflower, Peas, Carrots and Green beans.

Okay so I'm confused, I'm 5ft 10, how can I possibly only use 1470 to maintain my weight??? its not possible.

Thats like saying someone at 5ft 0 and me at 5ft 10 both need the same amount of calories to maintain or loose weight it seems a bit strange, its not a calculation I'll be using in the future as I can still loose weight without exercising eating 1600cals

Hi

I'm  about 5 10 around 147lbs, goal weight is 138lbs (what I was this time last year) I don't really excersise anymore as I don't get chance so I try to stick to about 1300cals a day but I have a problem with bingeing at the moment so normally at the weekend I eat alot more than that as I'm prone to binges every Sunday Frown Normally when I eat 1300cals a day I loose weight quite quickly even though I do not excersise.

Thanks for both the responses

I'm pretty sure the juice is included in the calorie count. If you eat the whole thing multiply by the big number.

You really ought to be eating more than fruit for both breakfast and lunch, you know. That's only about 400 calories.

I don't normally eat that much during the day, I tend to save my calories for when I go home as thats when I get hungry, I know its not ideal but if I had anymore calories through the day I would go way over my allowance at night Frown

Motivation How do you motivate yourself to get out of bed early and go to the gym? Oct 15 2007

I tell myself a few things in the morning:

  • first of all I need a shower anyway so I need to get up early anyway
  • The traffic is always worse later in the morning but the roads are really quiet that early in the morning so its easier to get to work.
  • I need to kick start my metabolism in the morning, it helps me through the day
  • I'll only regret it later if I don't go and feel like I need to go at night but if I get up in the morning I feel I can miss the night class if i don't feel like it because I've worked out in the morning
  • I also make sure my bag is packed so its just a case of getting up and going.
  • I never hit snooze, its the worst thing I can do in the morning because I know I'll lie there and think of all the reasons I shouldn't go to the gym so as soon as the alarm goes off I get up and go.

I think if you make sure you are prepared to go to the gym in the morning and have a few reasons to go you can persuade yourself, I hate getting up so early, its dark in the UK at 6.00am and everyone else in the house is still sleeping but I know I'll feel better once I've been.

Fitness I feel very bored in the gym, does it matter if I take a couple of days off? Sep 13 2007

I know how you feel, I get that every few months, occasionally I'll take a few days off but then I get bored in the house and realise I was better off at the gym anyway, I go every morning and night 4-5 days a week, I hate the place but a few days off normally sorts me out and I realise how much I prefer having something to do than sitting about in the house watchin tv.
