Weight Loss Short girls (5'4" and under) with a significant amount of weight to lose! (40+) Aug 28 2009

My scales are being very unkind this week :(

Upped some of my weights at the gym on wednesday and my thursday morning weigh in was up to 153.0.....went swimming last night, only did about 10-12 lengths cos I was busy nattering to my friend mark and this morning was 153.2. Hate fluctuations! Even though I know its not a fat gain (or atleast it shouldn't bloody well be) its still so frustrating seeing the number going the wrong way! My shoulders are a bit sore this morning though. I still like to weigh in daily though even though the fluctuations are annoying, I find it keeps me on track more knowing whatever I do will be reflected the next day, and I find I get to know how my body does react more. I'm a bit nervous that when I start my new Rules workout I might not see any progress on the scale....hopefully I'll see some good enough changes in my body to keep up my motivation if that does happen!

Thanks for the lovely comments about my before/after pic....just to confirm I'm the middle one in the second pic lol

Keep up the good work guys!

Where are all the group originals hiding again? Haven't seen pbear posting for ages!

Oops...nearly forgot to post!

Last Week: 151.8

This Week: 151.8

Annoying....but I'm feeling the workouts this week and I think its showing up on the scale. I've actually been running on a slight gain for most of the week (152.4) so atleast this morning its gone back down and I can post a maintenance weight instead of a gain lol

I really can't wait to be back in the 140's.....I was 149 before I took my 6 week holiday break. I feel better in my body though now...when I first came back from holiday I could feel the slight gain....felt bloated and a bit flabbier/wobblier than usual but since getting back on track again  I feel better in myself (even if the scales don't agree!)

Also the other day a friend sent me some photos of me from a couple of years ago....and wow I couldn't believe how big I looked! Made me realise that what I'm doing is working!

Thanks guys, I was just so shocked when I saw that first pic.....couldn't believe that I used to actually leave the house looking like that. The shame! I still have a long way to go....hopefully one day I'll look back at the second pic (taken July this year) and think 'Wow....I used to be that fat?!' lol

Hello, so I am really addiced to Frosties flakes, the blue box with the "Tony Tiger" :D. I am trying to lose thigh/butt weight. I am at a normal weight anyway. So, can I have it for breakfast with skimmed milk (a cup) rather than 2 whole wheat toasts with cottage cheese? Wouldn't it be the same?
Thank you so much
Today, I had 2 whole wheat toasts with a tsp. of cottage cheese and a small glass of skimmed milk
as a snack I had 2 peaches and some grapes

I also had a cup of frosties flakes
Now, I want to eat another one, should I have it if I am going to get grilled fish with salad for lunch or not?
thanks

What are "frosties flakes"? Is that different than frosted flakes? How could you eat them all the time (ie: be "addicted" to them) and not even know the name? Just wondering...

The op is obviously referring to Kellogs Frosties Smile

Hello everyone, hope everyone is well. Ok its weigh in day so here goes...

Last week: 153.8

This Week: 151.8

Happy with that :)

If only I could maintain a 2lb loss every week but I know its not likely. I'm glad to see a loss though as I've started my gym workouts again and have some muscle soreness.....luckily the scale isn't showing any water retention. Its always nice to see a positive result when you start back into your routine just to get the motivation flowing again :)

Still reading my New Rules book so should be starting that in the near future. Not sure if I'm going to follow the diet plan though.....looking through the recipes there's not alot I like, plus I can't cook anything other than grilled fish lol. I'll probably just do the workouts and see how I go.

Good luck everyone!

littlem74 if you've been working out harder than usual your muscles may be retaining water, specially if they're sore. Like you say, 0.5lb is still a loss! Sometimes the weight doesn't come off in nice, neat bundles....you might lose nothing one week then 2 - 3lb another. It is frustrating though!

Definately check your calorie allowance though, when I was undereating my weight loss stalled but as soon as I upped my calories I was off again!

Ok so first weigh in for 6 weeks....what with holiday preparations, holiday, and holiday aftermath! I'm treating this as starting over again so...

This Week: 153.8

Bit of a gain from before my holiday but I'm actually quite relieved. I was imagining all kinds of horror stories when I first stepped on the scales, but actually haven't gained anywhere near what I was expecting!

I've been swimming as normal but this week I want to get back to the gym aswell so I'm kind of prepared that anything could happen scale wise while my body readjusts back into my regime. I also bought NRWLFW before I went on hols so I'm looking forward to starting that once I've finished reading it :)

Good luck everyone :)

Hey everyone, I'm back from my holiday...well strictly speaking I've been back a week, just been trying to get back on top of things.

I had an EXCELLENT time on holiday! It was so good, was out every night parting to the early hours of the morning (don't wanna think of the alcohol calories consumed!) and days spent by the pool, beach or on trips. Met some awesome people. And I wasn't the fattest person round the pool!! Believe it or not I was amongst the slimmest lol. Good times :)

Ok so now holiday is over (sob) I'm trying to get back into the weight loss groove. I haven't dared get on the scales since I returned home. I am under no illusions that the scales won't show a gain so my plan is to weigh in on wednesday as my new starting weight....therefore no gain, maintain or loss (ha...I can dream!)

Hopefully by this time next year I might be somewhere near my goal weight!

Thanks Jodiferjuniper, I know I'm in alot better shape than last year but I'm just so frustrated wanting to get to where I want to be like NOW! I think its harder cos I used to be skinny so I know what it feels like and how much better I felt which makes me feel all the worse.

Well my bikini shopping is done and I'm already packed (with 9 days left to go - not at all impatient!) I'm still not happy with the amount of flab on show but can you imagine the tan lines if I wore my bathing suit instead lol. The poor thing is on its last legs anyway.

Lynners you can do it! Think about what you've learned from this time last year.....once you get your living arrangements sorted you can implement everything you've learnt and everything will start to fall into place.

Where have all the regulars gone? This group has been getting quieter by the week!

Oh, and welcome Mikka_jd....its a bit quiet in here at the min but its usually a great group and the support is fantastic. We usually weigh in on Wednesdays but I'm on scale strike til after my hols and there's a fair few MIA at the min

I think I'm going to go on Scale Strike for a few weeks...I go on holiday in two weeks (yay) but I'm constantly beating myself up about getting to a goal weight which I know I'm not going to achieve and I know that I'm going to ruin my holiday for myself if I don't get the number I want on the scale. I'm having a bad enough time as it is with the depressing bikini shopping. I've lost around 25lb since last years holiday but trying on bikini's I don't feel like I've lost an ounce. I don't want to ruin my holiday  feeling bad about myself but its really hard, specially when I had really hoped to have been further on with my weight loss by now....25lbs seems a bit rubbish compared to what other people have managed to lose in a year doing no more than what I have been doing myself.

Do I sound a bit selfish and shallow in hoping there are atleast a couple of people round the pool who look just as horrible in a bikini as me lol. My worst nightmare is that everyone but me looks young, slim and gorgeous :(

Hopefully once I get there just the fact that I'm on holiday might sort my currently extremely crabby mood out.....sun, sea and cocktails Mmmmmmmm  :)

Actually....scrap the cocktails - way too many calories!

Well I haven't weighed in for 2 weeks, been a bit low on motivation and a bit low generally. I haven't completely let it go, been counting/exercising during the week but losing it a bit on the weekends. I haven't been eating huge amounts, just higher calorie choices so as a result I've been more maintaining than losing and was too much of a coward to step on the scales! Sometimes when I'm feeling low a bad weigh in can really set me back so sometimes its better to wait til I get past the worst and feeling a bit more upbeat.

I think I'm starting to get my motivation back a bit now.....god knows I need to with only 5 weeks to go til my hol, now is not the time to go off the rails!

So back to business....

Last Weigh in (2 weeks ago): 151.4

This Week: 150.4

All in all I'm still moving in the right direction....just a bit slower than planned.

Good luck everyone :)

Weight Loss 10 things you need to know about losing weight May 28 2009

Yeah I watched this and I thought it was a really good programme, although most of the things they covered I knew already but I thought it ironed out a few diet myths for the majority of hardcore crash dieters.

I particulary like the part with the fat woman who claimed she must have a slow metabolism cos she always ate healthily and exercised but was 'just one of those people who just can't lose weight' (how many times have you heard THAT one before). When they had her keep a food diary for 9 days she claimed to have only consumed 1100 calories per day when in fact she had consumed 3000.

Chub rub.....yeah I'm with you on that one madamq

When you are feeling the effects of your workout and healthy diet and feeling pretty good until you turn round and accidently catch sight of yourself in a mirror or see a photo someone took and crash back to reality that you're still fat and has SO far still to go

When you're walking through town on a night out and there are two guys walking behind you loudly commenting on how fat your ass is (that was about 30lbs ago though but its still pretty huge....always one of the last places to lose!)

When you can't wear all the nice clothes other people are wearing cos they just don't look the same with fat rolls

When you're going on holiday in 8 weeks with your skinny friend who looks great in a bikini and just about anything and you're still feeling like a whale

When you feel like you don't deserve to have a boyfriend and will be single for the rest of your life cos surely nobody would find someone as fat and ugly as you remotely attractive :(

When you feel inferior to your gorgeous, slim friends

When your feeling a bit down and being fat just makes you feel 10 times worse :(

I do know of someone who has been morbidly obese for most of her life.....she claims she used to be 5ft 1 and now is 4ft 11. I don't know how true that is though. I'm 5 ft 1 myself and she is definately a couple of inches shorter than me even when stood up straight but whether she was actually taller to begin with I only have her word for that!

I wish mine would come off my bum, hips and thighs! I have had a fair bit come off my boobs but since they were freak show enormous to begin with they're still pretty massive. According to my tape measure I've lost about 5 inches off my waist but only 1 or 2 off my hips and about 1 off each thigh. I am grateful for my hourglass shape but it does make it harder to get them killer legs!

I actually think my trainer was trying to kill me on monday. My thigh muscles are still very, very painful. They actually feel swollen and hot. I did workout yesterday as planned but I skipped the squats for now! I'm swimming tonight and then friday is supposed to be gym night again but if I'm still this sore I might have to give it a miss altogether as I'm supposed to be going out on Saturday night for my birthday and at the minute I can barely walk as it is lol

These thunder thighs of mine are going to get some punishment the next few weeks, I can tell you! Mwahahahaha!

This Week: 153.4

I had a training session on Monday at my gym with one of the instructers to devise a new workout programme for me to keep things fresh. There were ALOT of weighted squats involved. Oh man, have I felt it. I can barely walk. I can even feel how swollen and tender my muscles are. I'm anticipating tonights workout is going to be fun lol :)
