I do 20 lifting like the shoulder press exercise, then bicep curls and then lateral raises which i'm no good at using 4lb weights so I use 2lb because its a lot easier on my arms. I go to the gym once a week but mainly for running and light free weights, I've never used power machines because hardly any women use them here I know they do in the US but here its pretty rare to lift heavy weights its just light weights and running. I dunno it  would be embarrassing to try and lift heavy weights because I couldnt do it.

Only in modern times, think back to days of yore with me, when the ladies were hauling around babies, churning butter, carrying water, kneading dough....it's really only in the last 75 years or so that it's really been viable to be a weak waif...even in England.  And trust me, those ladies did not look like bodybuilders.

You know you can lift 2lbs or 4 lbs (my purse weight more than 4lbs), so try and lift 5lbs, then 10 lbs...no one's saying to start at 50lbs, just work your way up.  You don't have to have a crazy goal of heavy lifting, but maybe being able to carry your own groceries home without getting sore arms would be good.

The previous diet worked when I still had working thyroids.

If you really do have a thyroid problem, weight gain and depression are symptoms of an underactive thyroid and it makes perfect sense that you would have these issues.

You are not depressed beacuse you are Eastern European and you are not gaining weight because you are eating too much.  All of this is because of your underactive thyroid, it's important to your health that you do something about that, rather than just trying to treat the symptoms.  You need to find a doctor that will treat your thyroid problem first, then the other problems should fall in line once that is dealt with.  You said it is hard to find a decent doctor, but it's really important to your health that you make the effor to find someone that can and will help you.

Will it be better for me to restrict myself after binging out intensely for the past 2 days?? I was thinking of eating less...

No.

Don't ever do anything that could be described as 'restricting'.

Restricting leads to hunger, and hunger leads to binging, thus starting the whole process again.

You are clearly thin and small, young and active.  You need to see a dietician to correctly figure out what your caloric intake should be.

I sterilized a pair of scissors, cut it off, & then plunged the area in to a dish of rubbing alcohol. It never bled & I never got another one. There is no scar.

 That's awesome.  Seriously.

Maybe $5, from Ikea....but I generally sew my own throw pillows, since anything decently pretty is wicked expensive.  It's a square for goodness sake, not that hard to make...In general I can't justify buying things I can easily make myself.

My mom was looking for a pillow for a bench and found the perfect one, for $70!  She ended up making her own too...who buys a $70 pillow?

Health & Support Are laxatives a good idea? Sep 07 2010

Laxitives aren't heroin, it's fine to use them for their intended purposed when needed.  If you need them all the time, then you should see your doctor; and if you're using them when you don't need them, that's bad too.  But from the sounds of things, you just need to move things along...

I would say use the lowest dose possible to get results, and check your diet to make sure that you are getting enough water and fibre to prevent this in the future.

you were seriously considering using a semen detection kit? then what, giving the results to the FBI to track down the offender?

no, I should just keep my mouth shut and be happy that I am subject to unidentified human fluids, right?

Do you use your towel to dry your butt after a shower?  Your balls, your pitts?  What so you think other people do with them?

Gyms generally bleach or boil the towels, that's why they are always white, and even if they didn't, you can't 'catch' HIV from a laundered towel.  Maybe if it hadn't gone through a drier and you are covered in open sores...but that's probably not the case.  If you're so put off by it, then yes, bring your own towels and shut your mouth.  No ones' subjecting you to the towels but you.

To the rudest person I have ever met on CC, there is a difference between using the towel to dry off and wiping your freaking butt to the extend that you leave your own nasty fluids on the towel. Here is some news for you: there is something called toilet paper for that purpose. I strongly recommend you should try it because obviously you use your towel as a toilet paper.

It is actually YOU who need to shut your mouth and leave my thread.

1. We've never met.  We never will.  I basically don't exist, and neither do you.

2. You're the one that's, literally, airing your dirty laundry on an internet forum.

3. You asked if you should shut your mouth, remember?  I said yes, you should.

4.  I didn't say that people WIPE there ass with the towel, like after going to the bathroom, I said DRY.  Yes, I do dry my butt with a towel after I shower; no, I don't go get toliet paper to dry shower water off it, and I have a hard time believing you do either.

5.  If you actually think that the people at your gym masterbate in the change room, why are you a memeber there??

Oh lordy I hate the one-uppers! LOL

Normal person: "Man, my arm is sore from working out"

One-upper: "oh yeah? well I lost my arm in a fire in Vietnam by a shotgun"

LMAO

Once, she broke her toe and she tried to convince me that  it was worse than the time I broke both my arms at the same time.  It was hilarious.

It probably was.  You see, you broke your arms.  She broke her toe and she SUCKS AT LIFE!... See how much worse she has it?

 This.

Restaurants shouldn't have to adjust what they sell because people want to be unhealth, if it didn't sell, they wouldn't sell it.  I wish that they still advertised smokes and booze like they used too.  In my mind, if you need to be policed by society so that you don't kill yourself, you're probably a drain on society anyway.

I played FishVille because my sisters wanted me too, and it was super time consuming....one day I came home from work and my first thought was "Gotta feed my fish!"  I was horrified because it should be "Gotta play with my REAL pet puppy who's staring at me with cute eyes and wagging tail whilst I log on to FB."

So I deleted it and don't miss it one little bit....all those games are just time wasters for people with nothing better to do.

Could you convince her to go to family therapy with you??  Then she might see how worried you are and how much you want to help.  Try suggesting that the two of you go to a dietitician for the whole family's health, she might just feel like her kid is attacking her and thinks she knows better...and parents really don't respond well to that.

The boyfriend sounds crappy...

And salads kind of suck, you can make lots of really tasty foods healthy and filling without resorting to boring salads.

I now wonder if all of us reading this thread are going to be subjected to observing the $5.00 off coupon good on two Cold STONE Creamery sundaes.

Nope, I got a slimband ad.

I totally think that you need to be in a good mindset to really make a positive change.  When I feel like crap about myself, I either gorge and stay lazy, or I just stop eating.  When I feel confident, I want to make healthy and positive changes, and people notice when you are exuding positive energy.

I'm glad you are feeling good about yourself, the weight loss is just a bonus!

The Lounge How often do you wash your hair? Aug 24 2010

In university (whe I didn't care if I looked a bit greasy) I washed my hair on Mondays and Fridays.  I coloured my hair a lot too, so it worked out well that I didn't wash my hair as much.

Now that I need to look respectable at work, I wash every 1-2 days in the summer, 2-3 days in the winter, and on the weekends or after a workout I just rinse.  I don't colour my hair any more, and I use crazy salon shampoo (Nioxin), so it stays pretty healthy and happy.  I've heard about the no 'poo method, but I really couldn't start it now and show up to work looking like a grease ball....maybe if I go on sabbatical/mat leave at some point.

I worked up to 2 mins at one point, but just do a few reps until failure.  I find that plank uses a lot more back muscle than crunches, but it's good to do a variety of moves if you want to get all the muscles, so don't just do planks.
