Hey there, joining a little late...

Age = 31

CW = 208.00

Goal = 150.00 by the end of the year.

I have yo-yo dieted all my life, and once I hit goal, I always gain it back (plus some). I'm going to take it slow and hope it sticks. :-)

Hey there - I agree, a multi-vitamin, and eating a variety of foods will solve the B-12 problem.

As far as gas, I usually am a little gassy after consuming larger amounts of dairy. Have you found that you are increasing your dairy in an effort to get the protein you need? Also, there are some veggies that are known to give you gas (well, at least they give lots of people gas). For me, these veggies are: cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cucumbers, asparagus, turnips, radishes. I have also read that the gas increases if they are eaten raw. So maybe just lay off some of these veggies for a while and slowly re-introduce them into your diet? Good luck, once you system ges regular, you will start to feel loads better! :-)

Big breakfast, for sure! If I don't eat breakfast, the rest of the day is bad for me! I eat a breakfast with lots of protein because that helps me stay fuller (and energetic) for longer.

Motivation On a Boat... Jan 27 2011

This is a hard one. I am the sort of person who says "You're on vacation, it doesn't matter." But, I really don't think that's very good advice and that's how my weight shot up to where it is now (crazy holidays!). So, I guess what I would do is decide which meals will be healthy and which meals you will allow yourself a little more leniency. I would probably be sure to eat a good breakfast, high in protein. Those sorts of breakfasts give me lots of energy and for the most part keep me from binging later. Then, I would have a healthier lunch too. Maybe a huge garden salad with salmon, tuna, something? Again, something that will keep you full and give you lots of energy. Then you have a little leeway (sp?) to order a more delicious sounding dinner (and maybe dessert). I think if you spend the day feeling fuller, you won't go crazy at the ice cream bar as much... and, you'll have a yummy dinner to look forward to. :-) I don't know, if it was me I wouldn't want to spend my entire vacation eating salads and counting calories like crazy... it's your vacation!

Oh, and running will also help keep things in check. :-) Good luck!

Weight Loss Looking for fellow "apple shaped" gals to lose 20-30 pounds with. Jan 27 2011

Hi ladies,

How's everyone doing? I had a total melt-down of two days (Tues and Wed) and ate way too much. Today, I am determined to start over.

So far, I aim for 1600 calories a day and swim 5 days a week. I know I need to get back to running... when I used to run, I lost weight so much faster and my core was so much stronger. I am thinking about signing up for a St. Patrick's Day 3K. It's a pretty short race, and loads of fun, but should provide just the right amount of motivation to get going again. :-)

I think the most frustrating thing about being an apple is that when you buy pants that fit your waist, they inevitably slide down as you are walking... I feel like I am always tugging at my pants while walking to work from the parking lot. This happens even when I am wearing a belt! :-)

Apple-shaped girl right here! :-) I am 185, 5'7", and look pregnant because all of my weight sits right in front. Thanksfully no one has asked me yet! Errr... I've lost weight, but not enough to go down a pants size... just enough to make my butt look even baggier. I would like to get down to 150-ish, but right now I woudld be happ(ier) at 170 because I have a plethora of clothes that fit me at that weight! Now I seem to be cycling through the same few pants just so I don't have to buy new ones!

Have you found any exercises that help with getting rid of the belly?

Hey there... we have almost identical stats:

SW: 191.4 CW: 185.4 GW: 150 Dream Goal: 140

I am already doing a January challenge, but I would love to weigh in here too. My weigh-in today was: 185.4. That's 6 pounds since the 3rd.

So far, I have just been watching what I eat. But, I do plan to start exercising this weekend. Hopefully, I can get my butt on the treadmill (it is covered in ice and snow outside). Good Luck!

Edit: Forgot to say: I am 5'7" and 30 years old.

Is anyone else having problems getting their post to copy and paste? I really don't want to have to type everything again, but I can't get mine to copy and paste... even when I copy it over to Word and then paste it back... argh.

I count everything.. it still has calories, right? (Heck, I even log my plain black coffee, and that only has 5 calories... I still want to get the whole picture).

Plus, if you log everything, you can do the "Analysis" of your diet and get a better picture of what nutrients you are missing.

I'm curious what your parents say... mine would never allow that behavior to go on... maybe try again with them and suggest solutions, like a family rule that your sister can't go in the basement when you are working out. Or, if someone makes a rude comment, they have some sort of consequence.

Gosh, I am sorry, that really sucks. Maybe she is insecure about herself (for whatever reason) and is feeling intimidated by the fact that you are actually doing something about it?

I like the squirt bottle technique... but, I would let your parents know that's your plan or else your sister could use that to get you in trouble. I have a little sister, they are master manipulators when it comes to parents... :)

Probably the best solution would be out-and-out ignoring her. Don't talk to her at all. Whether you are working out, eating, watching tv, anything. She may be a bully, but she still won't want you to ignore her. If she asks why, then you can tell her that you don't want negative people in your life, and that you won't be talking to her until she changes her attitude. (and, of course, refuse to drive her anywhere) That would have had the best effect on my little sister.

Good luck, and keep believing in yourself - college starts soon, right? :-)
