Hi everyone! I hope all is well with the weight loss. I just wanted to give everyone an update since I have not been posting lately. My 16yo daughter has been sick off and on since December and hopsitalized twice during this month long period. We thought she kept having recurring eye infections, but it turned out she had a sinus abscess caused by a deviated septum. She had surgery to correct the deviated septum and to clean out her sinuses. She was home recovering all last week and had the nasal splints removed last Thursday. She is back at school today and doing so much better. My weight during this time as been pretty much consistant. I went up a few lbs. to 230 and this past week back down to my challenge starting weight of 227. So now I am ready to get back on it and at least get a bit of weight off during this challenge. I will repost post my weight this week at the regular weigh in. Good luck to all of you!

Hi all. I hope everyone is doing well. I have not been doing so good. Just gotten really off track for the past week, but the past two days have been great. I'm going to get some fitted running shoes on Friday so I can start running. Yay! So WI for 1-16 is same 226. At least no gain... |

Thanks for your insight. That is a good way to look at it. Do you suggest any cookbooks for a newis veg*n. I can do pretty well without meat, but the dairy is what is hard for me to give up (mainly eggs and cheese, I don't drink milk anyway). I think it will be easier for me to eat lacto-ovo or pesce then ease into vegan once I got some good recipes under my belt. Who knows, if I find some good recipes I might can just quit the dairy all together at the beginning. Seafood is another thing that might be hard for me to give up. It will be interesting to see how going without meat or dairy would improve my health. I have pretty bad allergies and sometimes get migraines. How long does it normally take to see this type of benefit? |

Thanks for the replys. I have been an on and off again vegetarian for a few years, but I always seem to come back to the idea. I like the idea of veganism for weightloss and health as well as animal rights and the environment. I still subscribe to Vegetarian Times, even though I'm not veg right now. I have toyied with the idea of veganism for sometime but have never really committed to it. I like the idea of a vegan diet, I just tend to get frustrated with 1. restricting food groups leads to binges (or so they say) and 2. I ask myself is it better to eat meat or dairy since they are natural than to sub with processes vegan foods? |

Last night was much better, she did not cry when I put her in her crate. She went to bed around 9pm and woke to go potty around 330am. She did stop near the back door to potty and I said no and we continued outside where she finished her business. She is doing great. Thanks for all the advice. |

I feel your pain. I am the same way. Our boston was not properly trained and I want to do it right with the new baby. My husband was actually the one that gave into her first last night. LOl! She does fine in her crate during the day but I am gonna try again tonight and "put her to bed' in her crate. |

She did good with the crate yesterday until bedtime. She cried and yelped a lot. I know I shouldn't have, but I took her out and let her sleep with me. She slept better than the night before. She slept almost all night and woke me up at 3am to go potty then back to bed. |

Ok great. I moved her crate into my room. I will give it a try letting her sleep all night tonight. I am becoming exhausted from lack of sleep. Like I said earlier she woke up and jumped off the bed to go play and poop about 3am this morning. I wake up about 430 anyway. Maybe she will be my little alarm clock to get up and work out. Thanks much. |

Ok, it is great to know I am doing this right. So at night when she goes in the crate to sleep, should i continue with the 2 hour schedule or extend it longer? Or should I let her sleep until she wakes up? Thanks for the help! |

I would love to join. I don't drink alot but I know that when I drink wine it derails my weightloss efforts. My goal is to not drink until Easter. |

Hi, Foxriver. I guess I will use 227 as my challenge start weight. I was down to 225 earlier this week and this morning I weighed in at 228, but I know I did not eat enough to gain 3lbs. I cant wait for next WI, I am really pumped. |

I just got it and it soooo fun! It is good exercise, but like all workouts it is what you put into it. It made me sweat. |

safina1, why not just indulge a little, but stay within your calorie range and make sure you get in your exercise. Remember this journey is about a lifestyle change and in order to do that you should embrace eating like you would eat for the rest of your life. I know it is hard to do sometimes, but it is worth it. |
